  • This timetravelfootage takes us to Berlin in 1947. 28 months have passed since the end of the war and the city is heavily scarred by the devastation of the war. About a third of Berlin lay in ruins in 1945, including large parts of the historic city center. The Allied air raids and also the fighting in the city area had caused extensive damage. It is estimated that about 600,000 homes and 12,000 industrial buildings were completely destroyed, and that about one-third of all roads and rail lines were impassable.

The reconstruction of Berlin after World War II began immediately and took several decades. However, there were other priorities at first, such as caring for the population and removing rubble and unexploded military ordnance. The housing shortage was acute and many people lived in temporary shelters such as ruins or refugee camps.
In 1947, Berlin was divided into four occupation zones (French, British, American and Soviet zones). The city was surrounded by Soviet troops and there were regular tensions between the occupying powers. Living conditions for the Berlin population were difficult, with shortages of food and other essential goods. In June 1948, the blockade of Berlin by the Soviet Union began, which exacerbated the situation.

I'm a spiritual reincarnation of Hitler's army, and I remember everything, and I remember a lot of events. We were betrayed by some of our officers who agreed with the Soviet Union to end the war and destroy the Nazi Party.

A wonderful informative film clip spoilt by the badly positioned watermark and the needless time bar.
