Dear Imran Consider feed entering from mid of distillation tower.The section above feed plate is called rectifying section where the vapors are basically washed to remove less volatile component with the liquid returned to the column from the top reflux.Portion below feed plate is stripping section where liquid is stripped off more volatile components by the rising vapour.
