Thank for so much for these videos! My sweet grandma lives in an old mobile home with moisture damage underneath which has caused the floors to need replacing. She also has those old single pane windows which create the worst condensation and damage the paneling under the windows. She’s 69 and in remission from cancer so I’ve decided to tackle it. I’ve replaced the paneling in her living and dining room but never done floors.

Your husband can definitely do this. If it’s made of wood you can fix it. I have many Mobile Home Floor videos that I hope will help your husband. The reason why I make videos is for people like your husband. I’ve been working on mobile homes for years and years and years I’ve never found one that I couldn’t fix. I searched and found Drews videos, as it pertains to my project. I'm renovating(saving) a mobile home for my daughter (priced out of her apartment down in the city). YOU CAN DO THIS.
Just look for the wet spots on the floor, SET YOUR SAW for the depth of the flooring (NO MORE) and start cutting. Once you see what is beneath, you gain confidence. Cut a little more and look around underneath. Once you open up the effects of the problem (the floor), you understand it and realize you can replace it. KEEP READING...
Fixing the effects is step 1. Make sure to fix the problem/what caused it (step 2).
Our problem... the exterior sheathing/siding... being a mobile home, it was laid up in 4x8, 10 or 12 ft sheets of siding. These sheets are joined together every FOUR (4) feet. That seam's caulk had deteriorated. Water ran down and behind the siding and onto the floor. AND THAT WAS THE PRIMARY CAUSE.
SECOND PROBLEM... The mobile home's A/C unit's condensation line became plugged (or there was a leak in the A/C pan. Regardless, we replaced it (all of it) and made sure the A/C could condensate/leak (which is normal) BENEATH the floor.
Hope this helps. You can do this. God bless you and your husband.
      You can do this.

I lived in and rebuilt a old manufactured home. The area I live was and still is Mobil homes. Slowly they're disappearing. The old homes can't be moved. They have to be demolished where they're located. home movers won't touch them. Lot built homes are replacing the old manufacture homes. The material/labor cost just don't work putting into a old manufactured home. Just the kitchen cabinets will cost as much as that old home. Maybe if you have access to used reclaimed lumber and are retired with no day job, I could see doing this. I was fascinated that anyone would do this.

I was just curious, in the start of the video the room you were in you said they had the flooring running length ways. It looks to me that it’s going the width of the room. By the end of the video it looks like all the flooring is running the full length of the mobile home.
Just wanted to see if you could clarify this?
Should the flooring run length of the mobile home and is there a reason to why?
I’m needing to have my whole kitchen replaced and if I remember correctly the subfloor is currently running the width of the mobile home.

How do you keep the walls supported after removing the rotted flooring? Also, I know you say to replace the whole floor, however the damage in my mobile home is a medium section. under the bathtub and into the closet of adjoining room, where the hot water heater leaked. I had planned to replace 1 or 2 feet beyond where the rot is and add support joists to keep the weight of bathtub, washer, dryer and hot water heater from causing sagging in the future. Oh, I will be using plywood to replace the flooring. Not trying to cut corners, honest, but I have come to the end of my limited budget. I should have said this first, I'm glad I came across your vid's. I am no longer have paralyzing fears that I won't be able to fix things in my mobile home. If you literally spill one cup of water and you don’t clean it up immediately in a week you can step your foot through that spot. To be honest they are doing better nowadays they do not use that type of flooring anymore.

You should use Vantex flooring, not three-quarter inch plywood. It is a little bit more money but it will never go away. They have different brands of it. I’m not sure what they carry in Maine advent tech Vantex there’s different names. I’m not sure what years is like I said, but if you use it, you will never have to replace your floor again ever plywood. It could happen. If it gets wet down the road you’ll have to replace itVantex, you will not. Sounds like you have everything you need if you’re in Maine maybe you would consider our 30 in the attic but I think I 19 is fine for the floor. Thank you for watching and if there’s anything else I can help you with please let me know it sounds like you got it figured out. When you take up the floor if it’s put down with Staples and glue I have a video for that.

When ripping out near the rimjoist. Do you leave the floor cut off at the edge of the wall? Or do you rip the floor out between the wall and rimjoist?
I get that we want to add a joist for the edge of the plywood but between this edge and the rimjoist should there be a 2nd piece of wood? I.e. At the end of the project do I fill the whole underneath the wall with wood and then it sticks out and the plywood gets nailed to it?
Or do I just leave the flooring under the wall then give one new piece of wood that the new floor will sit on?
I'm really unclear as to how the area under the wall should look like after the repair is finished.

It’s not easy in order to replace the piece under the wall which would be the bottom plate is to remove the paneling on the inside. I hope this video helps you. Are used to just leave that underneath the wall and install my blocking and not worry about what was under the wall I still do that if I can’t remove the paneling. But if I have to remove the paneling I might as well replace the bottom plate and the plywood.
