Beautiful, I can't believe the quality of instruction you get into 5 minutes! I like the 'center point' concept. As old as I am you always teach me something new.

One of my favorite dances. (if you can get the club to play the right music) I need to incorporate this one into my dance with my partner. MCDGA!

It’s one of our favorites too. Not too many dance it in our area, but we dance it every chance we get.

I'd like to see how you adjust when dancing today's NC2 step with a partner who's style and footwork are the original (Buddy Schwimmer) version of the step. What should a change when I'm dancing with someone like this? Sometimes I see steps I'd like to adapt that are in the original basic step...and converting them to the cross step style isnt easy.

Think of it like this... West Coast Swing is derived from Lindy Hop. Some movements and patterns have a lot of similarity, yet so many things are different enough to make them separate dances. Sure, you’ll have some things that would be recognizable when lead, but many things would seem very foreign.
      Nightclub is kinda like that.
When leading things from one version to the next, it’s kind of like changing your accent if you moved from New York to the Carolinas if that makes any sense.

@@countrydancex i see what youse guys mean...but does that mean dont west coast with a lindy hopper or NC with an old timer?

We certainly wouldn't say "don't" ... except maybe don't expect it to be the same. Your best bet may be to just consider them separate dances.
