Could the official name be different from what the commoners call it? I find most Khmer ignore the formal name and give a short name (and descriptive) that’s easiest to say in a sentence.

We have forgotten some of the temple original names after abandoning some hundreds of year in the jungle.
A lot places have used new names by Khmer today, even though we found inscriptions dedicated old names of ruins, we still prefer calling them new names for example Prasat Ta Phrom still use its name till nowday. But through stone Inscription tell us it was called in ancient time Reach Vihea ( រាជវិហារ )
