This made me tear up. I can't believe Estelle, Bea, and Rue all have passed on. I watched them since I was little, and I always loved the show. I will miss shows like that, which they don't have now.
I'm an incorrigible sentimental softy, that's no secret, but that standing ovation...just sends chills through me. So moving, so well deserved. Hindsight vision and all that, watching it now, it's not just a thank-you, it's also a goodbye to Bea and Rue.
Poor Bea and Rue. :( I watch the Golden Girls everyday, and knowing one Golden girl is left... Makes me miserable. The best show I have watched in my life. :D
you really shouldn't feel that way at all, they left us with an incredible body of work to enjoy for countless generations to come, I am sure they would be pleased that they continue to make us laugh, may they rest in peace!
When I first moved to nyc I worked with Estelle on a corporate video. She was in torch song. She was do delightful and sweet. When I saw her on G G I was thrilled. Many years later I met Rue at a restaurant. She was lovely and so much fun. I was also introduced to Tony Thomas. I got to thank him for GG. I never tire of this show
MISS YOU RUE N BEA. I remember watching golden girls and in one episode they do talk about what happens when they get old. all of them promises to stay together even at a nursing home. suddenly Betty asks" what if others are dead and only one of us is left? (look at the irony) I am heart broken.
It's so sad to see Bea Arthur, so thin and frail and not sounding well. A little less then a year later, she would be gone. Rue was not looking so well either.
4 great talents in a truly brilliant show. Bea was 86 when she passed, but it still hit me hard. The woman was truly one of a kind, with amazing comic timing & delivery. I loved her dearly, and I doubt we'll ever see her likes again. favorite GG moment (one of many)- Rose takes Dorothy to Mr. HaHa's Hot Dog Hacienda for her birthday. Rose: Dorothy, you haven't touched your Mr. HaHa hot dog! Dorothy: you're right! (SMASHES hand into her hot dog) There...I've touched it...
And now, here we are in 2021, and they've all passed on. It's sad sometimes to see the wheels of time turning. May we forever be grateful for the on screen genius that all of these women were so proud to provide.
That was so wonderful that TV Land honored our favorite women Blanche, Sophia, Dorothy and Rose aka The Golden Girls. Its so sad to know that Blanche, Sophia, and Dorothy are dead, and Rose is the only one left and is alone.
All 4 women were magnificent. The Golden Girls was and still is my favorite show. My grandmother who literally looked like & passed for Sofia Petrillo watched the reruns until she died at 93 years 9 months in 1997. She couldn't get enough of that show.
Does anyone else get teary eyed at this? This was only 3 years ago and 3 of these women are gone. From watching Golden Girls its like I knew them personally. Its amazing how fast things happen. R.I.P Estelle, Bea & Rue Long live Betty White! :)
I was born the year the Golden Girls went off the air. My mom said she was watching one of the last episodes while she was having me in the hospital. It sadden's me deeply that 3 out of those 4 wonderful women are gone. I hope and pray the legacy of this show goes on forever, and thank you Rose, Dorothy, Blanche, and Sophia, for all the laughter,
This show was and still is my absolute favorite show ever. I'd watch it over any of the crap on television now. This show has been and will always be my go-to show whenever I'm stressed and need to wind down, when I can't sleep at night and when I need to visit some old friends!!!! RIP Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty & Rue McClanahan! All of you will always be our Golden Girls.
The beauty of this show can be seen in the longevity of it's predecessors. I Love Lucy has been on the air continuously since its original airing. Golden Girls is so much better and more timeless. It wouldn't surprise me if people 400 years from now are still watching. God bless, royalties!
Talk shows today are not like they used to be. Remember Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin were on in the afternoon and had actors ect on all the shows and talked to them. Not the drama we see today with people fighting and cheating.
@Benjamin Hill its emotional to watch this, I so agree... and to think she passed away less than a year later. Poor Bea. Physically she looked weak .;( It makes me want to cry seeing Bea looking frail but yet she was so pretty and so lovely at the same time. Love and miss her SO MUCH ;(. I wish she was still here.
I feel like crying. Times passes so fast. I have been watching Golden Girls since I was a kid. That guy is right. EVERYONE watched Golden Girls. It is my favorite show. We will miss you "Sophia and Dorothy".
Just realized that this video was uploaded the same day that Estelle passed away and the ceremony itself was just one month before than. RIP to Estelle, Bea, and Rue.
Four of the best women who have ever graced our screens! RIP Estelle and Bea! I am so glad Bea was well enough to be there for this honor! No one will replace them! Thank you for posting!
omg....estelle died in 2008, bea died in 2009, then rue died in 2010.....i hope betty is gonna be alright in 2011....cuz i love the golden girls so much! i watch this show everyday! and i'm just 19, the show makes me so happy!
***** Bea didn't "dislike" Betty. There was always that misconception. Bea loved all of her co-stars . The only thing is, whenever she was on set, she took her role seriously and didn't prefer to do jokes and things like that. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just that Betty always loved to be funny and energetic that it simply annoyed Bea sometimes. However, whenever i hear people say Bea disliked Betty, it gets me upset. It's simply not the case. Both of them loved each other very much.
BeebsBonanza The theory only arose because of the way they acted on set. From past interviews though, especially their history, everyone knows in reality Bea and Betty loved each other. May have disagreed how to act on set at times, but they loved each other.
I remember I was like they better stand and applaud for these three legends! LOL but seriously The Golden Girls has truly stood the test of time and will ALWAYS be funny. It's sad that the type of humor this wonderful show had would be watered down and bland now since most anything funny usually is these days but this show and tribute is a testament to my childhood and the awesome memories it helped create for me. R.I.P. to Bea, Rue and Estelle who I really wish was well enough to have attended. May Betty keep going strong until it's her time to be reunited with her girls.
Love the Golden Girls, and always will, owning all 7 seasons on DVD, i think i have worn them out watching them so much!! Im glad Bea was well enough to accept the award last year. this is truly an amazing show with 4 of the very best actresses. no one could have played those 4 women like they did :) they are the best!!
I love you my girls. Bea, I am sorry you were sick at this award program. I love you Bea and I will always miss you. I love you and Rue and Estelle you left us to soon. Betty, God Bless you, for being in good health. The Golden Girls will always besides my mother, my true family.
Golden Girls are in a class by themselves! This show was one of THE best shows on television. Love all four ladies R.I.P. Bea, Estelle, and Rue, love you guys (tears trickling down)
i am soo unlucky. never got to see them in real life. I must visit betty somehow, and just tell her how much golden girls changed my life and thinking of the world. And ofcourse get her autograph.
I grew up watching the Golden Girls. I've seen every episode at least 30 times (probably a lot more) and it's still just as funny now as it was then. This was a lovely tribute to an extraordinary show.
Golden Girls was still on TV when I was born in 1988 I think it was in its 5th season Lol and ended in 1992 I remember watching the reruns and new episodes as a young kid. Those woman were angels and so very funny.
Still missing it now. Especially now that I'm of a certain age and I'm now going backwards. I've got the sarcasm of Dorothy, the mouth of Sofia, the innocence of Rose and because I'm married to a man 20 years younger, you can guess what part of blanche is inside me
The best show ever! I grew up with it - watching it before I understood the majority of the jokes (I was 3 when it debuted), watched it on Lifetime all through middle school, high school and college and now watch it on Hallmark. It's such a timeless show that will always be relevant - truly amazing writing and acting!
@TangibleDreamsEnt Mario Lopez played on 1 episode of the Golden Girls. He played the part of a young immigrant from Porter Rico & was a boxer that Sophia had one of her money making ideas to manage him. But he had another dream in the performing arts
I never understood all the comparisons with Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. Both of these shows could not keep me entertained for more than five minutes and the only resemblance I see that The Golden Girls and the other two shows have four female lead characters. GG is still hilarious after more than twenty years: all due to the great cast and Susan Harris' brilliant writing.
The BEST show of the 1980's. The Cosby Show was good but after three seasons it started to get boring with the kids growing up. This show was great for all seven seasons. A true classic forever.
I glad that Bea made the effort to be with her co - stars and also to receive her award. Even though Bea was not in good health at the time.
Jason Gibson she is a last stage of her cancer.
She was always my fave...
Bea 😢😢 I miss her…I miss Estelle and Rue.. such classy ladies …
To count she has only a year to live.
@@desertrose1226 and now betty too.
and all four are now having their cheesecake in heaven
I miss them too.
Anybody here after Betty White’s passing? :( RIP TO THESE BEAUTIFUL LADIES - THEY ARE FINALLY REUNITED 💞
the writing and jokes on golden girls was amazing!
Yes, the show is timeless.
This made me tear up. I can't believe Estelle, Bea, and Rue all have passed on. I watched them since I was little, and I always loved the show. I will miss shows like that, which they don't have now.

You are absolutely right! Such a touching tribute to very wonderful ladies :) they've given us a lot of laughs over the years :)
Was Estelle Getty at this time or still suffering from lewy body dementia? Sad. Also Rue didn't look thrilled about being there.
@@cindyrogofsky251 Well she was probably not in the best shape here, she passed two years later so there's that. Bea passed one year later.
@@cindyrogofsky251 Rue died way too young.. poor beautiful Rue.. only 76 that’s not that old.
Poor Bea and Rue. :( I watch the Golden Girls everyday, and knowing one Golden girl is left... Makes me miserable. The best show I have watched in my life. :D

Greg Rak They're "resting"?
yes they are.
What? You don’t count estelle?
Miserable lol

john cassese you are so lucky! I love this show so much
did she tip u well?
Would have loved to have met them especially Estelle! You’re so lucky!

where was sophia?
Angle Johnson Estelle had dementia and was at the final stages of it
Final stages of dementia. she died a month after the tvland awards
I think this when she first had cancer
Betty is the oldest of all four
God betty being the eldest but the one most fit and able minded having to cover for them. No wonder shes still here. Good life force girl
4 great talents in a truly brilliant show.

This is far too short of a tribute to this absolutely iconic and irreplaceable show
The last time Bea, Rue, and Betty were together.
So tragic we lost 3 of them in 2008, 2009, & 2010
That was so wonderful that TV Land honored our favorite women Blanche, Sophia, Dorothy and Rose aka The Golden Girls.
Its so sad to know that Blanche, Sophia, and Dorothy are dead, and Rose is the only one left and is alone.
The Golden Girls Shall Continue to Stay Strong, in Heaven & on Earth.
My golden girls forever 💕

and they were sitting in the exact order they died in that episode.... from left to right... with Betty on the right and still kicking! eerie for sure
Does anyone else get teary eyed at this? This was only 3 years ago and 3 of these women are gone. From watching Golden Girls its like I knew them personally. Its amazing how fast things happen.
R.I.P Estelle, Bea & Rue
Long live Betty White! :)

one of my favorite episodes is where sophie says "hey pfeiffer how about a punch in the pface"
I adored the Golden Girls - each and every one!
Filmed less than two years ago when all four were still living. Simply sad, but lovely to see these three ladies together again one last time.....
RIP! All the girls are gone now!

Rest In Peace Betty, we miss you already
Betty is the only one left.
These awards shows do not give them enough time to talk these days. And this one is especially to short on there speech time!
Talk shows today are not like they used to be. Remember Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin were on in the afternoon and had actors ect on all the shows and talked to them. Not the drama we see today with people fighting and cheating.

What an honor it must have to been to BE there that night and stand up and applaude these women... there just isn't enough applause in the world.
Some shows you can watch over and over, GG happens to be one of the only ones I can do.
its so sad estelle wasnt there to do that too :(
I feel like crying. Times passes so fast. I have been watching Golden Girls since I was a kid. That guy is right. EVERYONE watched Golden Girls. It is my favorite show.
We will miss you "Sophia and Dorothy".
I still love the Golden Girls!!!!!!! I started watching as a teen in primetime and I'm their age now.I watch as though they are still here.

Nikola Balsic she definitely is slowing down & not as on point when she speaks which makes me sad & nervous 😟
I love you so much ladies❤️❤️❤️💖
Awwwwwweee I really miss those Golden Girls. What a brilliant show. Probably the best comedy sitcom ever made.

She worked on broadway what do you expect?
Hi
Dennis T. Betty White said herself Bea didn’t like her so I think she didn’t
Who's here after Betty White died?
The show was on June 15, 2008. Estelle passed away on July 22, 2008. It was a few weeks before.
AND THAN THERE WERE NONE.
RIP BETTY WHITE.
UR ALL REUNITED ONCE AGAIN
Rest in Peace to all The Golden Girls, Betty White died yesterday.
They have aged but gracefully.
They all deserve it! It's about time!
i use to watch it when i was still young and single.nw im married with grown up kids and i watch it again.
Awww. I just read Bea's lips. When he says "...Dorothy Zbornak played by Bea Arthur", Bea turns and looks at Rue and says "I don't have to stand up?"
The best was The Golden Girls speech. Well missed and thank you.💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

They really were Golden girls!
I love the golden girls. I hope they NEVER do a reboot of the show. No one is as good as them.
i am soo unlucky. never got to see them in real life. I must visit betty somehow, and just tell her how much golden girls changed my life and thinking of the world. And ofcourse get her autograph.

It didn't matter if you were a woman or a man or a girl or a boy, the golden girls had the hottest ticket in town.🤩
this show let me know that it's ok to grow older. When I grow up i wanna be a golden girl.
sherrill varner Me too. Like they gave us permission to still be cool at that age. To still have goals and dates and adventures.
Me too. I admire Blanche so much
Makes me smile every day!
Teary eyes.... My heart breaks to know 3 of them are gone.
"The Kama Sutra had to publish a supplement because of you!"
I'm sorry, but that's just freaking brilliant!
Loved reading that comment, shortening Bea Arthur to her initials made it sound like she's Mr. T on the A-team :P
omg!!! these ladies were soo adorable!!!!!! i miss them! LONG LIVE BETTY!!!!
They loved each other so much. Poor Bea. She looked so unwell here. ❤️
So sad. Cancer took away the wonderful Bea. I hate cancer. My late mom looked a lot like Bea as Dorothy and she had a similar cancer.
Now Betty white is with her golden girls
Still missing it now. Especially now that I'm of a certain age and I'm now going backwards. I've got the sarcasm of Dorothy, the mouth of Sofia, the innocence of Rose and because I'm married to a man 20 years younger, you can guess what part of blanche is inside me

If Im right this was added on youtube the same day Estelle died
i miss Bea already she was a wonderful woman with a great personality and she lived a good long life , i cant believe she's gone .
can i just say how much i love these women?
I am glad they did this. RIP Girls. I know betty is holding strong she rules....... and any that dislike this have no idea what good shows are.
omg i love this girls..R.I.P. ESTELLE & BEA... WE LOVE YOU RUE & BETTY!!
2021, Betty White is 99 years old and the only one left. :(
i grew up with the Golden Girls and still adore them
Who else remembers watching the broadcast live with anticipation waiting for this moment?!!! Rues line always stayed with me
I love this show and these girls
The best tv show ever!

i grew up with the golden girl i love the show and i have all the seasons on dvd
ive seen every single show...i Heart this show amazing writers, amazing everything..i love them..........they dont make shows like this anymore
