    I work in Physical Therapy and I think it's extremely awesome when I see an amputee continue to push themselves and enjoy the outdoors with their prosthetic. To many of my past patients are not willing to push the limits of their new prosthetics. Nice work !!!

    I have the rheo XC Knee and proflec XC foot and I absolutely love it, i wasn’t sure about which of the mp knees to go for but I’m so glad I chose this set up. It was so quick and easy to do the initial set up (only takes 30 steps) and it is so easy to use, as you don’t have to keep changing the settings. I love how much better it is walking both up and down slopes compared to my old hydraulic set up.The app is simple to use too. Think I need to get some of those hiking poles, by the way how stunning is area you’re in 👌🏻🙌🏻 no wonder you want to get out there and enjoy it.

      Great setup, right?! My fitness for hiking is way better, my balance much improved, and I am able to do a walk most morning of up to 4km a time. Glad you share my experience, keep on going and please let us know how you're doing :-)

      It’s crazy how much less energy and concentration you use compared to the mechanical knees 👌🏻💪🏻

    Amazing video Chris. Thank you so much for taking the time to do them. They are a great inspiration I fell asleep last i night watching and woke up looking for more. Thank you, I am recovering from a nasty fractured foot and some days I fill so dejected. I actually started walking my dog Dex in my boot lately every day. Thank to you, I admire you. I hope your doing well. God bless you and your family.

    I’m getting the leg chopped soon... been petrified about not hiking... you’ve put those fears to rest! Got to get me one of these legs!!!!

    • @theampedlife
      @theampedlife  Před 6 lety +1

      I had the same fears, until recently I never thought this mobility would be possible. 14 years later and it's happening - go for it, there is a ton of stuff out there after amputation. All the best with your journey mate.

      Great to hear you're so enthusiastic! Please let me know how it went, or if I can provide any suggestions or ideas on how to make a new life happen. We all have our own journey, but we also share a lot in the experience of limb loss.

    Having walked on what I would call a very stock std leg for 24 years, I trialed the c-leg for 6 weeks. Fantastic piece of kit. I thought you can't get any better than this until today I was given the Rheo xc knee and foot. All I can say is wow. I think I will be keeping this one.

    Loved the video Chris! - you tackled some rough terrain man! Also didn't realise the Jonkershoek valley stretches so far into the mountain...

      Thanks Le Roux, yes it has a ton of amazing routes. In the next video I hike to the waterfall, it's spectacular nature all the way.

    How did you decide on the rheo knee xc? did you try other knees or just this one?

    • @theampedlife
      @theampedlife  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Peter, thanks for commenting. I have used and tried many knees over the years. Otto Boch 3R60, Ossur Total Knee, Nabtesco Hybrid Knee, Otto Bock C Leg... Of all the ones I tried the Ossur Rheo XC by far met my needs the best.
      The greatest reasons are easy of moving around, safety, and the ability to move over obstacles like when I go hiking. Also riding a bicycle and my motorbike is easier. The robustness and weatherproof build are big considerations for me.
      Finally Ossur's service and support is really good. I need to add that the ProFlex foot also makes a big difference.
      I hope this helps!

      PS I will do a video on why this was the right knee for me - watch this space!

    • @peterbenson6718
      @peterbenson6718 Před 6 lety +2

      Yes, please make a video of how it feels, why you like it, compare how it feels with other knees, etc. Many people would like to hear your opinion. have you tried the ottobock x3?

    • @theampedlife
      @theampedlife  Před 6 lety +3

      Hi Peter.
      I have not tried the Otto Bock Genius X#, for 6 reasons.
      1. it's damn expensive. Not just the leg but also the cost of ongoing ownership can break the bank.
      2. I can get almost 2 Rheo XC's for that price OR a second leg and socket, liner and foot, or keep some petty in the bank for that trip to Alaska :-0
      3. The video's we see of athletes running all over the show, jumping, completely immersing it in water etc is the absolutely rare exception. There are possibly a handful of people on this planet that will achieve this level of mobility. The voice says "there are no boundaries for me" which really gets under my skin because it is misleading and gives vulnerable people hope that they can do stuff which will never materialise. That is simply cruel.
      4. Ossur's service is next level stuff. The component availability and access to repair is localised. I feel like it is a community, not just a retailer.
      5. In the long run the cost of ownership with Ossur is manageable. In my experience the product is more robust and ages better for the duration of the ownership period.
      6. Ossur's integrated suspension system - the combination of liner, knee, and pro flex foot - is the best. The components are designed and made to function and compliment each other. I feel that they offer the total solution.
      OK so those are my main motivators for being an Ossur user. They are my personal feelings and observations after 14 years of trying various combinations based on an active lifestyle, so maybe it will be good to get another perspective.
      Hope this helps?
