I can tell you that this brave little one is the pride of the Nation. Andre is right, she is an example for all of us.
As André Rieu said, she won The Voice Kids Holland in 2021, but this year she competed in another TV talentshow in Holland called Ministars and she also won that. She used the price money to create her foundation called Gastrostars. She is quite small for her age, because she has a stunted growth because of her disease. She's connected to two tubes 22 hours per day since she was a baby and she has to carry two pumps with her that pump the nutrients through the tubes into her body. Now she usually carries the pumps with her in a handbag or a backpack, but in an interview she told that when she was still in primary school, she would carry these pumps with her in a walker for kids and that she was bullied by other kids calling her names because of this and because of her being small for her age. Now she can laugh at those kids, because she might be small, but she makes up for that with her huge voice and incredible talent 💖

She now also often carries them with her in a small beackpack, who knows what other creative solutions they find for it. Blind singers for example can't move around on stage, but still some of them have become famous stars. If there's a will, and I believe she has a very strong will, then they will probably also find a way 😉

the woman in the light blue dress is recovered from cancer and is already for years and years in the orchestra (since 1988) , so she understands and had to control her emotions and pink a tear away :) Her name is Manou Konings by the way.
She's a phenomenal musician and must be André's right-hand and most loyal employee, next to his son.

Music transcends language. Such passion and emotion from Emma. For a 15yr old to understand the depth of this song is incredible. She didn't have an outrageous outfit on, she didn't jump up and down or run around she stood still and held the attention of everyone in the audience. Superb. Excellent. Fun fact is that Emma herself doesn't speak French. And neither did 80% of the audience. And yet everyone was touched by her performance with the orchestra. She learned to sing this song phonetically with help of a French teacher. I read some French comments who all said she did a great job pronouncing the French language and she has a lovely Dutch accent :)

You can read them before or after if you like. Or even during while stopping the video every once in a while to read the lyrics. But subtitles are not part of the official video for a reason!!!!! They take away most of the magic because instead of looking at Emma people are busy reading the subtitles. You miss out on so much of her performance becasue of annoying subtitles!!!! Also by watching a version with added subtitles you are supporting a random youtuber who stole this video from the man who created this concert and video: Andre Rieu.

Aside from the mesmerising voice this was a performance. Look at how she used her hands to tell the story of the song. This would have done immense credit to a top class performer three times her age. What a talent.

The song she is singing here was written and composed by Barbara Pravi. This French singer represented her country with exactly this song in the international "EUROVISION SONG CONTEST", which has around 180-200 million viewers every year. She came second in the competition.
Cliff, now you know why millions of people around the world are telling people in their lives, "You have to listen to something that you will love very, very much!" Cliff, she was fantastic and the strength and determination she exhibited show us there is no way she is going to let her ailment interfere with her goal in life which is to sing to people. Anyone who listens to this will NEVER forget Emma and her performance for the rest of their lives.
She is about the size of a normal 10 year old. She got off to a slow start due to this illness. She is gorgeous and is yet another great young female vocalist.

I've seen this video at least 30 times by now and I still get chills. There's purity, truth, and beauty in this performance that I don't see often. I went and checked out both Andre and Emma. Andre Rieu has been doing these Maastricht concerts for several years now, and they also broadcast one of them into cinemas around the world. Myself and my parents always go to see them and watched this one in the cinema and during that song with Emma Kok I was in tears with how angelic and beautiful her voice is.

I was waiting for you to react to her...i love to see other dutch people succeed like this 😊. Andre Rieu is a famous leader and violist of the Johann Straus Orchestra and every year he has a 10 day event in his birthplace Maastricht. It is also a tradition that he promote's young talent like Enzo and now his sister Emma and he does this for years.
When I was younger (did already like classical) I was an angry metalhead (still am sometimes) and thought Rieu was kitsch. Stuff like this really changed my mind quickly.

I’ve seen many many reviews of this utter stunning performance and I have to say your mature, intelligent and heartfelt reaction is one of the best I’ve seen. Like you when I first saw this performance I didn’t understand a word, but I felt I didn’t need to. However, I did read the lyrics afterwards and understood the power of her performance.

Her vocal coach posted a snippet of this performance on her page and it sounded so good I had to look up the whole performance. It's been on repeat for about a week now. There is another copy of this with the translation. The interpretation of Voila was "I'm here", when she was touching her shoulders, she was basically saying "look at me". This song, written and performed by Barbara Pravi is a Eurovision song. She a pretty special little human being. BTW the gentleman with the dark hair and glasses sitting next to the pretty young girl, and Enzo Kok on the other side is her father. The girl is her older sister.

Love the depth of analysis you gave, and the reasons for why Emma sounds so good, it explains a few things that most reactors just don't know or understand, and that's so helpful in knowing WHY she's so good and creating the impact that she is. So now, a few suggestions for you.
There are videos of Voila with English subtitles, and when you watch it with them on, the meaning of the words will become so much clearer, and when you factor in the struggles she's had since birth, it will make sense, she chose Voila before she became involved with Andre because the words are appropriate to her life experience. she's had a very hard time, and needed professional help at one stage to overcome the problems of bullying and her own reaction to her condition, she's very much in a better place now, and can talk freely about the illness, and has been able to be seen on video and the like while carrying her pumps and attached to them, but it's taken a long time for her to get to that place of acceptance.
Andre, his team and Emma very significantly changed her presentation of Voila, some of her earlier performances are also on CZcams, and when you compare them, Emma's technically very good, she chose this song because the words meant so much to her, and learnt it phonetically, with help from a French speaker that she knows, and Andre's changes meant that she had the time and space to really get into the song, it's what makes her performance so powerful is that she didn't just give the performance of her life, she LIVED it on that stage, and it showed.
Andre also worked with her on polishing her performance, and he had 4 different dresses made for her and then they both knew the black dress was right when they saw them, and she said in a TV interview, she felt strong and powerful wearing it, but the real change was that for the first time, rather than appearing as a competent and capable girl singer, she came out on to that stage visibly and emotionally as a strong, powerful, serene, composed, driven and dedicated young woman, and then her dream happened, it's in her song 'Let me be a butterfly', on youtube, in Dutch, and also available with English subtitles, it's every bit as emotional as Voila, especially as she sings a section, around 2:10 in, 'if only for a day, or even for a count of ten, if I could be another', and you will see a gentle shake of her head, the pain in her eyes, and then her head goes down to silence for a moment, and then she rises, physically and in the song to an even greater height, as much as to say, this is NOT going to beat me, or define me, I WILL rise above it, an incredibly emotional moment, it was written for her, an expression of her dream, and as she walked out onto that stage to sing the new version of Voila for the first time in front of a huge audience, (there's close on 12,000 people there, this video was recorded on the first night of the 12 nights she was singing), mentally, the chrysalis that had been maturing for so long and with such pain in the cocoon emerged as the beautiful butterfly of her dreams, mentally, she soared high and free over the stage, the orchestra and the audience, she dominated it, and Andre admitted in another TV interview, the only reason that he and the orchestra were not also shedding tears was because they'd shed the tears in rehearsals, and had to learn to steel themselves to not break down during the performances.
The success and incredible response to her appearances at the Vrijthof resulted in Andre inviting Emma to participate in both the Christmas concerts series that have literally just finished, and she will also travel with the extended family that is his orchestra for the 2024 world tour, with his vast experience, he's clearly seen her huge potential, and from having followed Andre for close on 15 years, Emma will bring a freshness to some of the works she performs, it was already evident at the Christmas concerts, there are audience recorded videos on CZcams, and worthy of mention is the way she starts White Christmas, and sings the first verse unaccompanied, and then the orchestra joins in, she must have perfect pitch to be able to do that so well, and it makes for a very impressive arrangement.
Worth a look at for several reasons, the video on CZcams of her progress through Voice Kids, 2 years ago, gives an indication of how good she was then and of how much the gastroparesis has held her growth back, she is TINY when compared to the other contestants, on the stage with Andre, she's wearing 5" platform shoes, which helps her not look quite so small, but seeing her on Voice Kids, it's clear that she's been held back by her illness, and what that's meant for her vocal development is not at all clear, I'm not trained like you clearly have been, but what is very evident, albeit assisted by clever sound management, she is very different, even when singing as part of an ensemble of 6 other adults, there's something beautiful about her voice that makes her stand out, but it's a nice difference, not a case of being harsh or unpleasant, and with his long experience of recognising talent and promoting it (Amira WIllighagen is another vocal example from about 9 years ago), Andre is clearly very keen to have Emma as part of his 2024 line up, she will be capable of singing songs that are beyond many other people's ability, and Andre will be very good at pushing her to discover what her limits are.
In terms of other things she's done, there are three I will mention, the first is 'Part of your world', a Disney cover, not performed in front of an audience, and then another recording, 'Come Back Home', also not recorded with an audience, and they are only a couple of examples of many other things Emma's put on CZcams, there's also a couple of examples of 'All I want for Christmas is you', one very recent with Andre and the orchestra, and another from about a year ago, with a small band, again, it's interesting to contrast how they were both done.
The rabbit warren that is Emma is large, but if you've got the time, I don't think you'll be dissapointed with the experience, I'm the wrong side of 70, and Emma's got into my heart and emotions in ways that I didn't think were still possible, the first time my wife and I heard her was at a local cinema, the same video you've commented on, but on a wide screen and with cinema surround sound set to almost pain levels, we didn't just hear Emma and the orchestra, we FELT them, and it was a defining moment for both of us, and I'm very glad to have decent sound equipment on the TV at home,
Emma's work justifies being played with the volume set to a decent level, and things like a smart phone speaker, or ear buds just don't do her justice, she deserves to be heard with the sort of levels that they were using in the cinema.
I hope these thoughts help, and that you too will enjoy discovering the incredibly beauty and ability that Emma already has, and I suspect that as long as she doesn't have health issues, she's going to be a very bright star in the sky for some considerable time to come, my own personal hope is that Andre will let her have a go at the Celine Dion Titanic song, 'My heart will go on', I think Emma will be capable of delivering another definitiive performance with that song, Andre's musical arrangement of that theme is beautiful, and with Emma's vocal on top. it will be stunning.
