besides sharrock on guitar you've got the amazing bill laswell on bass,saxophonist peter brotzmann and drummer ronald shannon jackson. I call this heavy metal jazz and it's incredible. like nothing I've ever heard before. definitely not for everyone. but you have to appreciate the musicianship especially if you are a musician.sharrock was insanely gifted as a guitarist.no wonder he died so young.(the great ones always do.) the weird thing is he didn't even really enjoy playing guitar.he was originally a saxophonist but couldn't play anymore because he had asthma. he once said "I consider myself a jazz saxophonist but with a really f 'd up horn.
Just did a bicyle ride past Sharrock's street he grew up on in Ossining NY. There is a street named after him, Sonny Sharrock Way. Big last exit fan I am.
