    Great video buddy, that rod does look fun to fish with. Have you seen the Jackall Revoltage line of rods? Im curious how the 5'10 stinger tip will fish like and may buy this if I can find it in stock in the future. A quick tip for everyone not really related to this video, god forbid any of you will ever break your jdm rods but if you do and cannot do anything to it, DO NOT THROW IT OUT! Find a way to strip all the guides off and try to sell it to custom rod builders. Remember just for a full set a guides depending on what it is can easily net you back almost 100 bucks funding your next rod.

    Hello, excellent video! Can this rod excel in a stream or small river with both moderate and strong currents?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 5 měsíci

      You are asking the wrong question. First you need to decide what power rod you want. Do you want Ultralight, or maybe ultralight is not strong enough for your conditions. I have no idea how you fish, but if you have other rods that work for you - see what power they are. Maybe you need Light or even Medium light power. Don't think about rods until you decide what power you need. Then, when you decide that you need a ML power rod, search for rods that come in ML power. There is no point looking at ultralight rods if you need ML power rod.

    • @HoheGeo
      @HoheGeo Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks that's a good point. I've been fishin the small rivers around where I live and using an okuma safina 1.8 m 1 to 7 grams UL rod for over a year. Great success with spinners and minows around 4 to 5 grams but lately I'm crushing with troutmagnets and a 1.2 g jig head. So I'm looking to upgrade the rod. I fish mainly trout.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před 5 měsíci

      @@HoheGeo Well the model in this video is XUL, so even softer than UL power. You are talking about some serious current so it doesn't sound like you can use XUL power rod. Now, if you are talking about a lake, then nothing will cast the 1.2 gram jig better. What jig is that by the way? I don't know anyone except me in United States making 1.2 gram jig.

    Hi Victor, viewer from Sweden, love your videos as they are very informative from a very pedantic/enthusiast point of view!
    I am going to Japan in about 2 weeks and is planning to get my hands on some nice Japanese tackle, maybe you could help me make an informed decision?
    Here in Sweden I fish mainly for perch and pike, and I was wondering which of these two rods (Presso and Soare) do you think would make a better fit?
    I am looking for a very light powered rod and your description of the Presso being that it's hypersensitive, reasonably fast but still with a nice parabolic action makes it sound exactly like something I'd want for perch fishing. I am howeever worried that the power might be a litte weak, since perch here in sweden are usually quite larger than the average panfish (crappie and whatnot). Perch here range from 300 grams to 1,5kg, and you also have to be ready for the inevitable pike every now and then, even with UL lures.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Před rokem +1

      I know the european perch very well.
      1st of all, if you can travel to Japan, u can afford both rods. Its like picking between a Blonde and Brunette. The performance of Presso Air AGS is better, but holding that gorgeous Soare XR in your hand is like holding the most beautiful girl in the prom. So u need to get both rods. The only question is what models. I made a second video about presso air AGS for every model in the lineup. I bought every model in their lineup all the way up to ML. Watch that video carefully as i don't say random words there. The description of the power and action is accurate and u can make ur choice about which model. U probably want the L power if you twitch, and the ML rod if u use swimbaits.
      Soare XR.. if u fish from the bank get the 7'6 which is the only tubular tip. That rod will fight occasional pike no problem. As will the presso air ags rods. I am sorry but i don't hold very high opinion of pikes... they trash trash and give up unless u have like a 50 inch fish..

      @@ifishcatfish Hi Victor! Thanks for the quick response and excuse my late answer, been working a couple of 12h night shifts plus being sick, didn't have the energy to hit the comment button 😅
      After having watched your video on the presso air rods I do indeed agree, the L rod seems to fit me the best, even tho it has the most power I'm not concerned since it's still an UL style rod. And the Soare tubular tip seems like the best choice as well, although I fear the butt might be a bit too long, but I'll hopefully be able to make up my mind if I can get my hands on one when in Japan.
      I'm thinking of getting reels as well, and I'm no super pedantic when it comes to having the ABSOLUTE BEST UL reel, I'm very interested in the new 23 airity, but I'm also willing to look at the vanquish, perhaps not the 23 vanquish tho as it's quite expensive. From my knowledge, Daiwas ATD and ATD type L drag seems to feel and perform better than shimanos, would you agree or is the difference miniscule?

    Just your opinion there are better rods than the Presso made in the U.S the most expensive rods & reels are not necessarily always the best. Fishing is more about the fishermans knowledge not about the most expensive gear. You can have the most expensive gear and still get skunked.

      No, there is nothing made in US that is even close to this presso. I know u have something in mind, so give me make and model and let me look it up, and lets compare. People have told me many brands out of west coast and I always look them up and I have never once seen anything impressive.
      As for reels, you are half right. A $50 legalis is better than $200 pflueger. But if you only take one brand, then the more expensive models in that brand will always be better than the cheaper models.

      @@ifishcatfish You are right not many rods made in the U.S. but in my experience there are affordable Ultralight options available that are just as good maybe even better than the Presso its just about our opinion. I have two ultralight rig setups that I believe are just as good as any ultrlight setup. I have the B&M TCB 6'6 paired with a Daiwa Revros LT 1000 super sensitive rod with plenty of backbone and I have a TFO 6'6 Ultralight paired with a Daiwa Revros LT 1000 in my opinion this is the cream of the crop setup for ultralight fishing caught a 10lb largemouth with this setup the rod is well made strong, super sensitive and super light. You are a big Daiwa presso fan and in your opinion the Presso is the best but thats just your opinion. I fish both of these setups on 87th Street Slip slaying perch with these two ultralight rods.

      i think you are confusing different Presso models. Click on the link provided in the description. This is Presso AIR Ags, a rod that weighs 44 grams and has guides made of pure carbon. You are probably thinking about the Presso sold in the USA, which costs $60 or so. The TFO and the BnM are both good rods for the price, but they weigh twice as much and have steel guides and the blank has very low carbon content. I really hope u are not suggesting that these rods are somehow just as good.

      @@ifishcatfish I've researched the Presso Air AGS rod it sounds impressive to you but it still is your opinion I dont need the lightest rod with all the bells and whistles to catch fish I can catch fish all day with the rods I have so to me my setups in my opinion is all I need. At the end of the day it really dont matter what your are fishing with as long as your'e having fun & catching fish.

      your statements are all over the place. If you say that you don't need this JDM rod to catch fish, well OK, you are right, but Who are you telling this? Did I ever say in any of my videos that you need such a rod to catch fish? Do u know what hanging a straw man means? This is what you are doing.
      However, in your firs comment you say, and I quote, '*there are better rods than the Presso made in the U.S*'. Now this is not true! And this is the comment I replied to! If you started with your last comment, I would have just agreed with you.
      Finally, I hate to tease you, but I wish you could fish this combo for 10 minutes, even if you don't catch a single fish. The rods you mentioned are some of the best options under $100, but they feel absolutely nothing like this rig. All you need to do is cast a trout magnet, and let it touch the bottom, and just drag it along the bottom. It's like you got another set of eyes now, that can see the bottom.
