Hahah ya Tyler, I enjoy the value the crestie has in the market, but I wished people with reptile experience would move past the common stuff and attempt to make other species more available.
AU has very strict animal exportation/importation laws(In place to protect it's native wildlife) so unless there were big captive populations outside AU prior to the law it will be hard to have lots of AU natives outside AU, or at least will take a bit to get populations established, to add onto this Shinglebacks are not very prolific breeders, only having a few a year(They have much fewer babies than AU bluetongues). But yea I love them 2, my second fav reptile after perentie, at this point I need to just move to AU :|

The fact that not only did she get a shingleback, but a goldfield shingleback which is probably the rarest locale in the us is crazy so congrats on that. I live in australia and they're even rare here.

OMG that Northern Leaf Tail Gecko is by far my favourite, those beauties always catch my eye 😍 The Egernia and Australian Water Dragon stole my heart too ❤️
I really hope those Australian species make their way to the states! Last year I considered it near impossible to have Shinglebacks and Blotched Blue-Tongues available in the states and the fact it is possible and they could be relatively affordable in 5 to 10 years time is amazing!
I don't know that relatively affordable will ever be a thing especially because these species will all be CITES June 22, so that will make import/export very difficult and even more expensive.
I'm from the South of West Australia, so shinglebacks (we call them bob tails) was something I seen quite often growing up on a farm. They make great pets, also see lots of Gould's Monitors, dugites, tiny black headed snakes (grow to around 30cm or a foot and don't seem to be well documented) and I've caught a western bearded dragon once.
That's epic! Living in aus is just something else! Although I'm sure you guys think the same about going outside and finding rattlesnakes and chuckwallas hahah

Cool. At first I just assumed they were all wild caught, because in my head, imports=wild caught, buy then I remembered that anything that is from our of the country is considered an import.

Dope I got some green basilisk pair in a giant cohabitation enclosure with 2 turtles and a savanah monitor so far no aggression I will remove if I see it but its pretty cool observing them
@@MikeTytula research on behavior so far Basilisk - male always keeps an eye on savanah when she is out if female notices savanah she looks at male and they switch she moves towards the back of the enclosure while he observes they remain territorial in branches but feel safe on floor as well when the male needs to drink or swim she keeps an eye on savanah they seem unbothered all being the same size Savanah owns 4 square ft of flor territory close to pond Bank large heated rock and close to her large tree trunk hide next to pond she comes out comfortably sun baths and eats her hide has 7 tunneled in different directions one main vessel that leads to other tightly packed areas that Basilisk can't fit in she uses her ability to dig to make multiple escapes Turtles remain unbothered of course 2 surviving feeder lizards goin the distance Basilisk are displaying nesting Basilisk are like lions 1 male to 4 or 5 females difference is the male goes into the hides to check them while she watches his back once time has passed she enters to continue watching his back but head out of hide also keeping eyes for outside guard (probably thinking an animal will return) she now comfortably sits in a hide which I believe is were she will lay eggs. Further research is needed - Will tactics change if more females are present Will they have more courage to attack Are they avoiding aggression due to eggs developing in stomach Will she guard the eggs (motherly instinct) or will she not care Do they care for children are they accepted in the pack like armadillo lizards or killed Is savanah just comfortable or no aggression since she is not male So far no injuries if so I'll remove them but so far I need a go pro to study and show these details Cohabitation allows another part of instincts to activate awareness and carefulness territory protection and much more that you can't get in a single tank these things are what I'm doing in my research I'll be making another bearded dragon tank with Cohabitation of another lizard to see what works and what doesn't in a large size enclosure

The fact that not only did she get a shingleback, but a goldfield shingleback which is probably the rarest locale in the us is crazy so congrats on that. I live in australia and they're even rare here.

OMG that Northern Leaf Tail Gecko is by far my favourite, those beauties always catch my eye 😍 The Egernia and Australian Water Dragon stole my heart too ❤️

I really hope those Australian species make their way to the states! Last year I considered it near impossible to have Shinglebacks and Blotched Blue-Tongues available in the states and the fact it is possible and they could be relatively affordable in 5 to 10 years time is amazing!
I don't know that relatively affordable will ever be a thing especially because these species will all be CITES June 22, so that will make import/export very difficult and even more expensive.

I'm from the South of West Australia, so shinglebacks (we call them bob tails) was something I seen quite often growing up on a farm. They make great pets, also see lots of Gould's Monitors, dugites, tiny black headed snakes (grow to around 30cm or a foot and don't seem to be well documented) and I've caught a western bearded dragon once.
That's epic! Living in aus is just something else! Although I'm sure you guys think the same about going outside and finding rattlesnakes and chuckwallas hahah

What an amazing group of animals! Are all of the animals that Ashley imports captive bred? I've always wondered if the import videos were imports from breeders or wild caught. I know at least the Australian species are cb since you can't import Australian species across the border.

Dope I got some green basilisk pair in a giant cohabitation enclosure with 2 turtles and a savanah monitor so far no aggression I will remove if I see it but its pretty cool observing them
How big is the enclosure? And how big is the Savannah?

Basilisk - male always keeps an eye on savanah when she is out if female notices savanah she looks at male and they switch she moves towards the back of the enclosure while he observes they remain territorial in branches but feel safe on floor as well when the male needs to drink or swim she keeps an eye on savanah they seem unbothered all being the same size
Savanah owns 4 square ft of flor territory close to pond Bank large heated rock and close to her large tree trunk hide next to pond she comes out comfortably sun baths and eats her hide has 7 tunneled in different directions one main vessel that leads to other tightly packed areas that Basilisk can't fit in she uses her ability to dig to make multiple escapes
Turtles remain unbothered of course
2 surviving feeder lizards goin the distance
Basilisk are displaying nesting
Basilisk are like lions 1 male to 4 or 5 females difference is the male goes into the hides to check them while she watches his back once time has passed she enters to continue watching his back but head out of hide also keeping eyes for outside guard (probably thinking an animal will return) she now comfortably sits in a hide which I believe is were she will lay eggs.
Further research is needed -
Will tactics change if more females are present
Will they have more courage to attack
Are they avoiding aggression due to eggs developing in stomach
Will she guard the eggs (motherly instinct) or will she not care
Do they care for children are they accepted in the pack like armadillo lizards or killed
Is savanah just comfortable or no aggression since she is not male
So far no injuries if so I'll remove them but so far I need a go pro to study and show these details
Cohabitation allows another part of instincts to activate awareness and carefulness territory protection and much more that you can't get in a single tank these things are what I'm doing in my research I'll be making another bearded dragon tank with Cohabitation of another lizard to see what works and what doesn't in a large size enclosure

Shingle back skinks… the perfect animal my hope is one day they become very popular so I can acquire one.
Unfortunately they never will. All Tiliqua will be going CITES in June so the availability, especially on the rarer ones, will shrink.

The Goldfields are wonderful! And the Egernia are not seen very often here.
Oh they are stunning I mainly keep egernia here from cunninghams, tree skinks to homser skinks homser being my favourite Australian skink very hard to get in captivity here took me two years just to get some

Where she is located they are allowed to keep, as far as I know. They aren't my snakes so I don't worry about it haha.

Then once they are out of Australia they are legal imports for canada and other countries
How do they get exported into the U.S. legally ? Aren’t many of these animals in violation of the Lacey Act ?
As far as I know they do not violate the Lacey act, but I'm canadian so don't know much about it.
