Hello Sasquatch! What new updates in your life and to the boat? It’s been a while since you posted. I’m moving to Georgia later this year. Would love to check out your Whaly!

Hello Shridhar! Congratulations on the move. If your ever going to be in Ohio you are welcome to come see the Whaly! We haven’t done anything last year or this year, I’ve been recovering from illnesses been in hospital and rehabs for 7 months straight. I am getting better and stronger and if not the end of this year maybe next. While recuperating I’ve been making/painting lures and building rods, I will probable add them to the site. Peace

Cool video. Thanks for sharing. I have watched many of your videos on the Whaly. Looks great. Question... in one of the videos, there was water in the hull. You mentioned you would address it in a future video, but didnt see it yet. Just checking to see cause. Looking to purchase in the next 3 months or so. Thanks again for the video.

      Hi Nick!
I’ve been ill and it’s winter in Ohio where I’m at, so the work on the boat and consequently the videos are on hold till the spring. I’m planning some videos off whaly topic such as my lure making, fishing, and Rod building etc. but just haven’t been feeling well. The water seems normal for what we initially found, but we will do a real test when weather is warm again. We did get water in a swim platform, we added a drain plug temporarily till Whaly sent us a new swim platform. The new one arrived and the boat is actually in the repair shops yard awaiting repair under warranty. Whaly was fantastic in taking care of us and the marina near me is working with Whaly to repair under warranty. I’d have no worries if I were you, Whalyboatsusa is GREAT! I was scared buying a big ticket item sight un seen on the internet a few years ago but my son and I have been real happy. As for cause of water in main hull, we had to open 2 of the predrilled capped deck openings. We never owned a boat before and we never rigged a boat before. I suspect that the boot on the where the steering controls and throttle controls cable comes out is the main source of the water, probably while the boat is in the driveway catching rain. We never new to check and drain using boat plug, so water accumulated with rain over years. Evidently you should arrange for the boat to sit on the trailer bow up slight angle, and pull plug allowing to drain when you tack it out of the water, then replace the plug. Rookie mistake, but when spring comes we will test for sure. We’re gonna tackle a 30 gallon bucket of water with a light tint to it and pour it on the deck and see if it gets in to the un protected holes we made I suspect that is our issue which will be fixed with a better boot and marine sealant. I suspect it will be a fun video. We bought Whaly because of design weight and value. It’s great but it’s still a boat- bust out another thousand. 😜. Additional note, my son took the boat down to the marina for above said repair, he backed the trailer into a VW pasat. The only damage to the Boat was the fin on propeller blade which bent slightly. The pasat will need a new hood, grill and bumper. Thank God for insurance. I’m glad you are watching these will be covered in future videos, please stay with us. If you have more questions I’ll answer as fast and honestly as I can and or get you to someone who can. My Whaly keeps me sane. I love that beautiful red boat. 😎

How would this boat do with a 9.9? I fish a few lakes with hp restrictions. Thanks

Hi Frogman. The first year we had the boat we used on an electric lake only. We used a 55lb thrust Minn Kota. With the wind we did 3mph measured via the gps on an iPhone. Next year we put a 30hp Suzuki with the wrong propeller. That also added about 150lbs of console gas etc. we could never get it past 3500 rpms and never did higher than 7-8mph. Last year we traded the 30 in on a 60 hp Suzuki. Additional weight about 100 lbs for various reasons. With my son and wife alone it does 30mph. Add me and we get 25-27mph. If it’s only for a 9.9 lake it is what it is. You could save weight by not doing a console using a tiler and a small tank of gas? Or you could buy a 60 and a 9.9 and and engine hoist. The hoist from harbor freights about 250 bucks. Put the 9.9 when you fishing the restricted lakes and swap the 60 for bigger unrestricted lakes?
Send some pics when you get the boat. I’m curious what you do, let me know. Hope I helped. Peace
      G

Very cool to see all the work that goes into making the center console. Hotter many hours of work is it?

Hi SR! I’m handicapped my son did the work under my supervision nothing was real hard or took very long. We’re still working on the console, but the work so far was maybe 3 hours total.

How did you order your whaly? USA? Is 60hp enough to carry 7 people and do some water skiing? Nice job doing your own rigging

Hello JB! I ordered my whaly through Whalyboatsusa, I delt with Chris and Roy. They are the best, they put me at ease and helped a lot. I would say 60 hp is plenty, make sure you get the right prop. I don’t know enough about water skiing, we can get our boat up to 24 mph with 900 lbs of people on it. Thanks, we tried hard to rig it properly with Roy’s help and a friend named Renaldo, and eventually a pro named Duke.

What an awesome boat. So much more functional than these shiny wood or fiberglass boats that cost both arms and legs.

      Hello Reddy!
I am working on a new video, my son backed the boat into a VW the VW sustained damage to hood, grill, front bumper needing replacement, we had to have the suszuki propeller straightened. There is no leak on the boat and the leaking pontoon end has been replaced and repaired. Thanks for asking, stay toooned.😜
