Glad we could help. That is a rather high price. If you have to cut it in smaller, more manageable sizes, just be sure to not sink your blade too far into the tub surround so you don't puncture and water or electrical wires that might be hiding behind the shower. You Can Do It!!👍
That’s highway robbery 😂😂😂😂😂😂 should be $3k for the entire unit to be removed and a new one installed.

Subscribed! Outstanding use of a shop vac. Also how you cut it into four sections. I have watched a good amount of videos removing fiberglass showers and you by far have the safest and smartest technique. The only thing I would mention is instead of using a sawzall with a 6" blade, is to use a diamond coated blade (for ceramic cutting) with an oscillating. Multi-tool if working near utilities. (Ie l: water lines, and in my case.... Where the shower wall is against the electrical panel for the house....). Hence the reason I am researching a lot before starting this project.

It took me no more than an hour and a half to from start to finish. I’d recommend to anyone attempting this NOT to go in all Rambo with Sawzall blazing , but to proceed with caution believing that there’s electrical and plumbing behind every wall… and mistakes are expensive.

As far as the installation of a new tub /shower combo...this was in a bathroom where the client wanted everything switched around to new locations and to have a shower base installed and tile on the walls. I do not have a fiberglass install video...but I do have videos on installation of a shower base and tile. I wish you the best on your project. 👍

Hi. Thank you for watching the video. It would be a wise idea to turn the water off just in case you accidentally nick a pipe behind the shower while you are cutting it apart. I had to rewatch the video, because I was sure that I mentioned that...but, no I did not 😕. I had the water turned off and even ran the other bathroom sink until the water ran out...to clear the pipes...but, I didn't mention that in the video. Your home will have a shut off valve for water. It is usually located right where the city water pipe comes into your foundation / crawl space. Once you have shut off the water, turn on a faucet until the water stops, so that you can ensure that you have drained the water from the pipes. Leave that faucet in the on position so that once you turn your water back on the air in the pipes will escape through that faucet. I apologize about not mentioning this critical step. What if I need to reuse this tub alcove. How do I take it out so it can be reused.
Hi! Thanks for watching the video. That is a great question. Depending on what is surrounding the shower / tub combo...it can be easy...or hard. If the shower/tub combo is surrounded by sheetrock, then you will need to cut the sheetrock about 6" above and 6" on the sides to gain access to the screws that are most likely holding the shower in place. Once you get to the surround and loosen it up, you should be able to lift it up and out of the nook. Of course, that is assuming that you already removed the plumbing fixtures. I hope that this information helps you with your project. 👍
Do you need to turn the water off to do any of this?
Absolutely! Electric too, if you're cutting the wall, always a danger of being too aggressive with your saw and hitting unintended things.

You skipped the part where you saw the drywall! That's exactly what I need to see so I can learn how to cut drywall correctly!!
Hi. If you fast-forward to 3:42 I show how to use a scrap piece of lumber to put a mark all the way around the shower and side walls and then I demonstrate how to use a Fein tool to cut the sheetrock and remove it from the wall so that you can gain access to the flange on the shower surround. I don't believe I skipped any steps. You might just need to re-watch that part. I wish you the best on your 👍
