I went to Umrah and Hajj a few times, and I think Jeddah is a wonderful city. I did go to Masjid Ar Rahman (The Floating Mosque of Jeddah) as well. I guess you are right that where the boats are does remind you of Marbella a bit - it is Puerto Banus because I've been there on my way back from Gibraltar to Torremolinos
