Also, I ordered a book about David Hockney's landscape paintings recently and can't wait to read it, it looks like such a summery read and summery artist to me!

Miranda, I always love ALL of your recommendations. Just my kind of list. Always unusual finds and not the expected: best sellery, most popular, current reads so often featured on many BookTube channels. I am not saying they should disappear. No. There are so many great reads that having a variety of suggestions, beyond recent/au current published books, means someone like me is sure to find another "must have" book to add on to the endless conveyor belt stack of reads in their possession. lol. Goodbye, Mr. Chips reminds me of the book (also a movie with Jennifer Jones) called Good Morning, Miss Dove, about a schoolteacher whose life, because of her long career, was much fuller than most realized.

I love your vids. 'Goodbye Mr Chips' is a lovely book. It reminds me a bit of 'Its a Wonderful Life' in that the protagonists a reminded of how much they have given to the world and how they have influenced the people around them. A lesson for all of us. Thank you Miranda. Your channel always makes ne feel good. You are such a joyful person.

I love *Coronation* 👑 The family is just delightful. I remember my genuine anger when the bad news arrives, and then my admiration at how they pluck up. It's a great story.

I hadn’t realised AJ Pearce had a new book out. That will be going on my TBR list as I loved Dear Mrs Bird and Yours Cheerfully. The Rossettis book is so beautiful. I love Pre-Raphaelite art. Enjoy your break and visit with your dad!
Oh Goodbye Mr Chips…wonderful! You must see Peter O’Toole and Petula Clarke version, Miranda if you haven’t already. You’ll Love it!! 1969 I think. Absolutely brilliant with not a dry eye in the house ! Classic!

Thanks for the heads-up about A.J. Pearce’s new book, “Mrs. Porter Calling.” I very much enjoyed her previous titles.
I just finished reading “The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies” (2023) by Australian author, Alison Goodman. Twin “spinsters” in their forties in Regency England defy the limitations set upon them by society to venture forth in adventure.

Always love the real mixture of books you read and haul. They all sound so great. I need to get back to some Persephones. I seem to have a habit of collecting them and not getting to them which needs to train. Can’t wait for your thoughts on Blood Knots. Oooh I didn’t know there was a second flavour thesaurus, that’s one I need to get Chris.

I learned about Cedric Morris on the art in isolation series on CZcams and was really struck by his art work!
The Rossettis book looks gorgeous! I'm intrigued by Greensleeves as I loved The Snowstorm - will try and keep an eye out for it if it's quite hard to get hold of 🙂 I've been reading a lot of Anita Brookner recently which is odd for summer since her books are quite gloomy but I think I might pick up a Miss Read soon for something light. La Vie, Joie, High Time and Recipes to Reconnect all appeal to me. I am currently reading John Lewis-Stempels Nightwalking (another of your choices) and I'm loving his writing.

I used to frequent Much Ado when it was located here in the states, along the north shore in Massachusetts. I remember how sad I was when they closed up shop and hopped across the pond. I've just started Mrs Porter Calling. Light and cosy sound just perfect as I'm recovering from being a bit unwell and have a few busy weeks ahead. A perfect time to curl up with a heartwarming book revisiting well known characters.

I love to read but I dont read a lot as before as nowdays Im very selective with my reads. You are one of the very few I follow with a book chanel here. We have same taste on books and cant relate to other readers on the booktube community😁.

Aah Goodbye Mr Chips is one of my favourites and the 1939 film starring Robert Donat is one of the very few films that make me cry. Sheer perfection. Have a wonderful June break.

My best friend and I read "You Should Have Known," which you recommended last time. We enjoyed it very much. We read a lot of mysteries. This is more of a psychological thriller.

I’ve seen the movie Goodbye Mr. Chips. It’s the old black and white version from the 30’s. It is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Have your tissues ready.

really enjoyed this! you might have watched it, but if not, I really recommend the film adaptation of ‘Goodbye Mr. Chips’ (film 1939). One of the script writers is our beloved R.C. Sherriff, so… 💕
I watched the movie several times… it dies ‘choke you up’ with tenderness, heart break, love, sadness.. ill have to get the book now!
