The single version for Don't rely on other men is actually very different from the album version. it doesn't have the orchestra parts of the ending section and tbh I might prefer it, but its honestly personal preference. Def worth checking out anyways
You should really check out John Cales Paris 1919! Amazing orchestral pop/rock album, one of my favorite albums ever. He was originally in the velvet underground as the guy pushing for the more experimental elements of their music before being kicked out by Lou Reed after their 2nd album
