Just a reminder of Saudi Arabia recent history:
      - 15 of 19 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia.
      - consistent Human Rights violators.
      - mistreat women as third class citizens.
      - murdered an American journalist for being a dissident.
      - bribed American political family with $2B while they were in office.

To your point, Phil has been the only one being honest…which is what everyone loves about him. As opposed to Jack Nicklaus, who is currently working with the same Saudi group to build a golf course in Saudi Arabia, being paid by Saudi money. And in his presser, instead of being honest about the Saudis, he showers them with praise and then expresses how honored he is to be chosen to do this project…when are people going to make headlines about that? "Forty years ago, it was considered by some a risky move for the guys who play professional golf to break away from the group created for golf professionals." This was about the PGA Tour splitting from The PGA of America in 1969.
"The golf breakup occurred largely because of the influx of money that television had started to pump into the game. The top players (Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer among them) wanted to use the additional TV money to pump up the purses."
"The PGA of America wanted to put the money in the general fund. That's when the compromise was reached, with the golf professionals and the professional golfers going their separate ways."
    Sounds a bit like today...
The PGA tour categorized itself as a non profit so it could avoid hundreds of millions in tax revenue. That decision is now haunting them since it also means they can't hand out guaranteed money contracts like other professional sports. The LIV tour is doing exactly that so it's not surprising top level golfers want guaranteed money. If someone loses their PGA tour card they're gone with very little support. I don't see how you can treat people as independent contractors and then complain when they go elsewhere.

Unfortunately Portland, OR is taking a part in this tour. I wonder how many protesters will show up at this end of the month for the stop here. I hope it's a lot.

I find it hilarious that “LIV” is 54 in Roman Numerals, that their events are 54 holes, its star player has blown several 54 hole leads in majors, several of its other stars have done the same, and its commissioner was the absolute king of choking away 54 hole leads. Everything about this is for the underachiever looking for the easy way out.

In addition to the chokers you mentioned like Norman, Phil, DJ...the field is loaded with underachievers like Westwood, Oostie, Poulter, Sergio, etc.

Rings a bit hollow hearing anyone talk about "accepting Saudi money." As opposed to taking the good money from the good PGA Tour and all of the definitely very good multinational corporate sponsors and their track records all over the world. I see who the Saudi's are and what they're doing with this, but spare me any pearl clutching about where the money is coming from.
