Columbia is a very selective school, but one thing that I really liked about the application process is that they look for a person, not a number. Obviously it is important to have a good GPA and good ACT/SAT scores, but just having those isn’t guaranteed to get you accepted, and not having the best scores doesn’t guarantee you a rejection either. The best advice I could give you is to make YOU shine through your application, in any way you can.

Hi hi! John jay is actually a dorm for freshman, so I’m not in that dorm. As a freshman I really recommend living in Carman Hall because that it where most of the people live and it’s where the nightlife is. But if you would prefer to have a single then John jay is definitely the way to go!
