It isn't the best America can offer. It isn't even the best that the parties can offer. And it wasn't last time either, or the time before that or the time before that. But they are the choices the parties want us to have.
There's an "election" going on right now in Iran; a country which is supposed to be an enemy and one which, we are told, is the opposite of everything we are and everything we supposedly stand for. Yet every single candidate in that election had to be approved by a "Guardian Council."
So how is what we're doing different from that in any meaningful way?

What I found infuriating was when Biden said no service members have lost their lives on his watch. I wonder if the families of the 16 fallen service members from the Afghanistan withdrawal were infuriated too.

How's this for a conspiracy theory; Trump supporter slips Biden a 'Mickey Finn' before debate! Biden certainly looks like he's 'loaded for Bear' this afternoon. Replacement only possible if Biden withdrew, but in that scenario I agree with Annette, & suggest a Klobuchar/Kinzinger ticket. McCain considered a conservative Dem. running mate until aides convinced him to choose Palin, & a K/K ticket could solidify rust belt support.

Replace Biden, so sad about this, with a strong Democrat and find a great center right, non MAGA, Republican (if there are any left) as the running mate. Split ticket could be the answer, maybe.
A lot of good replacements available who could draw swing voters (Walz, Whitmer, Beshear, Shapiro, Moore, etc.).

This late in the season any replacement would have a handicap struggle to fundraise $500million to $1billion and contract the media reserved time slots to get the name recognition out, a suicide mission for many except the most already prominent figures. So a lot of potential prospects would pass til '28.

JB Pritzker is another choice, doesn't have the "same state" problem as Newsom, is still young enough (59), and comes from a Midwestern state. Could help the Dems with WI, MI, OH.
