I'm doing this on my 71 Nova right now. Thank you so much for all the great info you have provided on these Nova's, your channel has helped me tremendously in getting my car on the road. Be safe and enjoy your ride!!!!
Damn George, Thank you for making this video. You probably saved someone's life that has this kit before they took their car out at highway speeds or at the track!!! Your videos are so helpful to a lot of us.
Used the same kit on my 70 nova. Had got the 3inch lowering leaf springs from Detroit speed and had 2 inch lowering blocks and the shock towers were rubbing on the inside of my rims. Relocation kit fixed the problem. Nice Nova!
I never ran the shock relocation kit . I did run Cal -Trac Bars , Tri-City multi-leaf racing rear springs , frame connectors , solid body mounts and many other tricks . Car hooked up and ran well . Good job on the Nova Man !
Great job. Awesome nova. Just take some L shaped wide tab pieces and place on the frame face left to the kit bar face right, (right left on other side) and weld directly onto and in the center. Should make much sturdier. Of course a quad X double bar across between the frame rails and then shock mounts added to that would be superb. Awesome nova, love everything you are doing to it. Keep up the great work.
I hate where my stock shocks mount... I now know what um going to do. Thanks for showing this video and how easy it really is to relocate them. I am now a subscriber.
You e got me wanting to do a shock relocation on my 72Camaro . I'm running Calvert rear suspension .... Cal tracs , split mono springs and Calvert shocks
I have a 68 Camaro 396, I tried to bolt and weld all that I install. Never had a problem until I built a 500 Cadillac motor. It breaks bolts and welds so I think it's a good idea to do all you can to keep it together! Im another guy like you, we don't have big shops to work out of, but we don't let it stop us! Cool video!
@@matthewcorpstein1126 well the Camaro has a 396 bb, the Cadillac motor is in a 49 Ford F1 truck , when they flowed the heads, they said it would make around 600 horse , but I went with a wilder cam , and two fours and a tunnel ram. I used the cad company out of new Mexico for most all my parts. It cost me 4 k more to build the cad motor than the 396 but in the end the Cad is a different beast! The truck weighs 1800 pounds! I can run 80 in first gear, due to the gear I ran. It's great to get out in when you've had a bad day! Ha
I drilled through my frame and brackets when i installed mine i dont have bump stops in that location they used 2 diff locations for them and in mounting them that way i was able to adjust where i installed them and got rid of the stagger so they are both coming down in back of the axle better for drag racing and my calvert mono leafs and cal tracs and qa1 double adjustable shocks worked out perfect
should have left the bolts in just as extra support especially if you are squatting the rear end really hard. id weld a support tube to it too. its a nice set up love that rearend leave those grade 8s in and zip a bead across the support bar. that is super dry and clean under there what a solid car !
Damn bro, beautiful setup. Was the relocation strictly to get bigger meat in the back? I'm trynna see what I can do to fit 18x10 wheels (275) in the back of my 71.
I just ordered this kit for my Nova but it didn’t include the shocks for it. What is the length or part number for the shocks you went with? I just want to make sure I get the right length shocks for my car. Thanks
I guess you also could drill 2-3 bolts horizontal on that bracket going through the frame rail on each side and attaching that way also if you didn't have access to a welder? I would also use loctite there going to be a lot of vibration.
@@FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1i looked rick up yeah that 65 🙌 real nice but everybody don't got money like that sometimes you have to build what your money can afford they and two different classes his not as bad as rick but it's still badazz nova ✌

Should have kept the black car man now we don't got no current videos of you working on the Nova that kind of sucks I'm building a nova myself and I like to see other people working on their novas keeps me motivated
Grade 8 bolts aren't near as strong as welding it together. The weld will actually be stronger than the metal itself. Id suggest welding the crossbar as well. This way if it ever breaks, the metal will break before the welds will.
That Nova is bad as shit! How are yea Blade? Long time no see buddy! If we lived close together we'd have the Nova on my lift wrenching on her! Nice seeing your video bub, be safe at strip man 🤙🤙
don't the shocks go in front of the axle tubes? Sounds like constantly loosening bolts, you aren't torquing them down enough or with the shock behind the tubes, you are twisting the shock mounts when the axle articulates. We are putting this relocation on my friend's 73 nova as we speak.
A good tech inspector at the track will bust you for running center caps on the rear wheels , because you're running a C Clip style rear end , and he needs to see if you're running aftermarket axles or not .
Hey what's going on man sorry about the name my son posted this name anyhow I was wondering if you still have any of those extra leaf Spring plates when you did your shock relocation kit on your Nova that you sold . Your shocks are too long. They will bottom out when going over bumps. You need as much travel as the axle is from the bump stop, which you should probably reinstall.
I viewed the newer video. Looks better. I would measure between the mount points and call your vendor and see what they recommend. I suspect you need a shorter shock then the camaro ones. Nice car by the way.
