For Muay Thai, when you throw knees, try and thrust your hip and position your feet like you are throwing a sidekick. You'll get WAY more power out of it. EDIT: thrust hips with every knee like a kick. Outside of power, if they avoid the knee with distance management, then you can extend from the knee into a kick.
I was gonna say this so I'm glad you did. To elaborate a bit, you want your knee coming up and then going straight out with your hips driving, rather than just bringing your knee the shortest route to the target like in the video.
I do prefer muay thai to karate, it s not for the fact that I am a tkd guy (i love some karate moves such as the blitz punch), but because I made the speed by practicing taekwondo for over a decade and then, when I started training mma and had to learn other martial arts, it made more sense to focus on muay thai/boxe over karate
Mostly because karate works best against other practitioners. Muay Thai is just way too nutty, the power the conditioning. They are tanks and they can hit like one too, whereâs karate seems more like get quick combos in and get out to prepare again

The Karate style shown here looks like Shotokan Karate ; very fast but bcse of wanting Olympic recognition it has discarded many techniques like overhead hand strikes to the face & elbow + knee + foot strikes to the head & body + heel stamps to the opponent legs/knees etc etc So unless your teacher is "old school" & can teach you those techniques, just go with Muay Thai...
If you wanna be good at Mauy Thai you could combine western boxing with it, that was a technique Baukaw used to get ahead of his game, his head movements and punching techniques were better than others
100% when im training muay thai i make sure to encorparate boxing movements and combos in as alot of muay thai practices are sorely lacking on their upper body striking using it as less as an offencve measure and more to set up kick. But this works for all martial arts u dont have to only use muay thai encorporate some back kicks from karate slips and movement from boxing its all about mixing up diffrent movements to create your own style and flow

It's worth saying that some Karate styles (Goju? if I remember) have much less wide stances. Shotokan and its derivatives have the wide stance.
