- So here we are, another video where we bought a project that is one of the weirdest Toyota models we never knew existed! The JZX range is pretty vast, but this one is very unusual! Not a JZX, not a 1JZ and not N/A powered either? Let us know if you've ever heard of this rare JDM Toyota model?

Josh your drifting has elevated now that you have a consistent car you can get used to and learn the feel of. Looking way more confident.
Dave, two things about the gx81.
Firstly, yes the IS200 gearbox is a direct bolt on, same motor being a 1g, not sure about pedal assembly but you're a clever lad, you'll figure that out.
Secondly, the 1g-zze you have actually has pretty decent rods in them, a lot of people take the superchargers off, throw a turbo on, and turn them up and make 350-400hp pretty reliably. I used to have one that I swapped into an IS200, and it was sweet. I know the supercharger sounds good, but turbo sound better.
I was coming to say this, learned a lot about the 1g 5mge and 7mgte when I got my mk2 Supra
i think he has enough cars with turbos to keep the supercharger
Might be an option to port and pulley the current charger for more power, or replace with a new one for more power? Not as much boost as turbo but… the OG charger from factory is what makes this car cool. I did this to a VW polo G40 back in olden days and it was a nice improvement.
Xcessive manufacturing do the clutch pedal think you can swap to an MR2 master cylinder, lexibrake do alot of things to. I own an lx80 in the UK it's a pain in the ar$e trying to get any parts over here if you want to sell anything you take off Dave I'll buy it off you

That's correct. All the exported non Japanese models were the mx83 Cressida so Australia America and the like got it as a Cressida. While in Japan its the Chaser and MKII
You wanna find every old toyota? Head to barbados, gt turbos, chasers, gx81, supras, 20v corollas, gti corolla.... its FULL of them.
Lots of these in New Zealand too

i love the idea of the old school period bosozoku build for the GX
Bosozoku doesn't look good on the X8. X3, X6, and X7 look good as Bosozoku. The X8 has too much roundness for the Bosozoku look.
@@cjohn64 it can definitely work for a Fukuoka/Hokkaido spec Kaido racer, but yeah for an all out build with flares and 10ft exhausts they can look a bit weird

I had a 1GGTE in a GX71 and it revved hard! JZs are cool but the 1G was so much fun and with a good manual like a J160 and small wheels that 81 would be a super fun car. Could even twin charge it for something different

So my vote is doin a KidsHeart Tribute JZX81 build. We had the o.g one here in Australia but not sure if its still complete,
FYI: KidsHeart was the 'Sileighty' creator an was involved in producing the genuine sileightys with Nissan - Allegedly
5spd pedals from a manual GX81, GX81/A70/A80 Clutch Master, 6spd GXE10 transmission, clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder and front half driveshaft. Then jump the neutral safety switch wires on the transmission portion of the engine harness. Now you got a 5spd GX81 with a 6spd.
If it's an analog dash you will need a digital to analog piece for the speedo because the speedo is cable driven
If it's a digital dash then you can wire in the signal from the transmission.
Josh you did a great job driving bro, you finally have a good car. You just need more seat time with really good drivers so you can progress to that next level. You've come along ways though great job!

Extend that front bumper out 8 foot and fit a 6 foot high rear spoiler and have an exhaust extension that kicks out at 90 degrees also 6ft

JZX81 is my favourite Toyota EVER! The old Driftworks JZX81 was half of my inspiration into drifting back in the day along with Eric O'Sullivans 86 when it was Rockstar liveried!
Jzx 81 is seriously a one of the rare cars you couldn't have right now because it is too damn rare almost like a unicorn. In Malaysia, we called it Chaser. In Australia, they called it Cresta or Cressida also some other parts of the world called it Mark 2 hardtop, Mark 2 sedan and Mx83. These are 1jz at heart of course. I oftentimes confused between c33 laurel hahaha.

3 piece. Us does a cool thing with the 16 inch saw blades off of the late eighties MK3 Supra and turns them into a 16-inch three-piece wheel with a huge Barrel that would look sick keep with the old school Toyota beam and bring it right into the modern era of jdf

From the first glimpse of the blurred thumbnail i picked it being a cressida fanatic from the last 20 years ( from australia and we got the cressida mx83 with the 7mge, my old boy used to have one and drive us to school in one, ive had 10 of them since including building one with a 1jz,r154 for my provisional years of my licence)

You can swap a 1gfe Altezza gearbox into it (J160), you'll need a shifter relocation kit (Or just cut the shifter hole further back) and a custom cross member. You can use a factory manual gx81 w55 drive shaft or just get a custom one made. Pretty straight forward, it is the setup i used when my car was still 1G (I've gone to a 1uz vvti with an r154)

Definitely set on the standard kit, small wheel big style look. Might get shot for saying this but reckon you could pull something with strom and make a SSR Longchamp or mk1 inspired wheel, split rims with a low offset. Would be baller
Seen a few of these on sale here. Right now, there's a station wagon model of this on sale with a 320hp 1JZ-GTE in it and welded diff...It looks really nice though. IS200 01-05 rear will fit.

I shit you not I just bought the 1g-gte twin turbo model last week. Looking to do some minor mods to it and I'm really hoping that I can follow along with your build to take some inspiration. Along with that when I bought the car I got the booklet that shows all of the options that the toyota mark ii could have come with, that is the only reason ik that there is a super charged model
