- Is the Sony 6300 still worth in 2022 and is it even the best filmmaker camera for beginners? - I will talk about that! I had the Sony A6500/A6300 for 3 years know and I can tell you from a filmmakers perspective if this camera is still worth in 2022 and for who!
The Sony A6300 is a cheap filmmaker camera for under 500$ (used). It has great 4k Quality, good autofocus and 120FPS 1080p. Is this enough to be a good or maybe the best beginner filmmaker camera?
I tell you the reasons why I bought this Sony A6300 and tell you if these are also apply to 2022 and why the A6400 or A6600 are maybe not that different as the older models like the cheap Sony A6300 or the A6500.

Thanks for the comment! I think it's a perfect camera in this budget range. And the lenses are cheap as well. Try to find one - I guess there will be plenty on the market after the A7IV Release (Will sell my a6500 soon too)
The Sony A6300 with the Sigma F1.4 trio of lenses is fantastic for automotive photos along with macro photos in 2023.

I just ordered a 6300 off KEH today with a cage, a 18-50 Sony zoom, a Sigma 19mm 1.4, and an ef-to-e mount converter for under 700 total! I also own the T3i which is a very decent camera too for beginners!

Very nice video and I agree the 6300 is a great camera for the price, just please don't say that the overheating issue "rarely appears". I've had the 6300 and 6400 and there is a massive difference with the overheating. Perhaps the 6500 is a bit better in that department than the 6300, but in summer with 28° cecius (82 fahrenheit) I couldn't record more than 20 minutes in 4K without it overheating (a6300). I had to make pauses between shots and couldn't have the camera turn on the whole time. With the a6400 I haven't had any overheating issue ever.
That is strange - I guess you also had the Setting Auto-Safe-Temperature on „High“? Had the problem on a new a7iv today as well and just forget to switch the setting from „Standard“ to „High“.
@@FabianBrucker I had it on high. It's true though that the a6500 is much better in that department. And the 6300 only overheats when shooting 4K or 120fps in my experience.
I have 4 years with an A6300 and have never experienced overheating. I don't know if it's my model but it has never happened to me, (I always record 4k 24fps on 20-29 Celsius degrees) I recommend it 100%

Great video Fabian! I love my A6300, specially when I travel for the music festivals, it's so easy to carry wtih me. I take lot's of stage photos with it. So I've got a question for you; I use a Sony E 55-210mm telephoto lens with it. It's a great budget lens but I'd love to upgrade it. Should I buy a pro lens (Sony Fe 70-200mm, etc.) or should I upgrade my A6300 for better photos? Thank you!
Sorry for the late response - an FE Lens only makes sense if you plan to upgrade to fullframe (most cases its not worth it)
But imo lenses are Always worth the Investment
Hello, just wanted to ask, does the 55-210mm lens have difficulty taking good photos for music festivals if it is like an indoor concert?
@@dillon8108 Actually it's a great budget lens for outdoor concerts but it's not ideal for indoors. If the stage lightning is strong enough you may take some good shots but in my opinion, it's not ideal.
Great video Thank You. So I have the 6300 and 4 lenses which include the 18-105 f4 the Sigma 16 1.4. Your opinion do I continue to collect lenses and add a 6600 or wait for the 6900 that is rumored? Or do I keep this set-up for certain applications and go full frame. Looking at the a7iv but who isn't? If I stay asp-c and update this format with the newer versions, compensate with more fine lenses and focus on this (no pun :). I want to do more professional work, landscape and wildlife mostly. Or am OK and stay true to this format, refine my technique and learn this very well?? TY in advance, so many opinions. I would love to buy an 7iv or even A1 but I see logic in having the smaller form factor, great quality but less expensive lenses and eliminate having to make the decision of which to carry!!

And to your question: that really depends! How professional are you? Does the new a6900 will have dual SD Slot? As an every day work camera I wouldn't spend much on a single slot camera - but if you have some jobs here and then and mostly try to get into wildlife and landscape I guess you must not rely on this safety aspect and you can easily stay with the APS-C lineup.
It's definitly not less quality. The only thing you will miss here is super wide angle for landscape bc of the APS-c Crop. But you can use the Sony E 10-18 mm / 4,0 OSS and still would have 15-27mm full frame equivalents. But you get the extra mm for wildlife.
So my final recommendation (but it's also only MY opinion): Work -> A7iv, a7siii, a1, fx6
landscape, wildlife, small jobs: apsc with a6300 & newer models

That said I think we can assume something will come to keep the line advancing in features. My take away is you can't be wrong having both formats so it is the logical spend, although more $. I've used this camera for 5 years now. Don't use it for video because there is no IBIS. Only if it's on a tripod. But I've built a whole portraiture photography business with this one camera. For weddings I rent a Sony a9, only because that's the only good sony available for rent at my local camera shop. But haven't had the need to upgrade yet. Though the a7IV has been eyeing at me since it came out. My a6300 has paid for itself over and over since I bought it for $1k in 2018.

Das ist eine gute Frage - kommt drauf an wie du es filmen willst. Wenn du auf autofokus setzt, wäre wohl die 6400 die bessere Wahl. Wobei ich mit der 6300 auch schon echt gute sportaufnahmen gemacht habe mit dem AF. Aber von der Bildqualität geben die sich nichts.
Wenn du manuel fokussiert, dann klar die a6300 ✌🏼

Good „always“ on is the Sony 18-105mm f4 but if you want to be a little mort „artsy“ go for the Sigma 16mm & 30mm f1.4 (16mm for vlogging)

Hey! Nutzt du die Kamera dann immer nur mit einem Gimbal? Oder machst du auch mal handheld Aufnahmen. Weil ich überlege gerade, von der 6300 auf die 6400 upzugraden, nur damit ich unterwegs schnell aus der Hand filmen kann, ohne ein Gimbal aufbauen zu müssen. Was meinst du? Lohnt sich das? Und filmst du manchmal aus der Hand?

Aber Abhelfen kann man sich hier aber mit einem Cage+Tophandle (also mehr Gewicht und einen guten Griff), einem Objektiv mit interner Stabilisierung & im Notfall wirklich ein Gimbal für wackligere Sachen. Ich muss aber auch sagen, dass ich selbst auch noch einiges im Schnitt stabilisiere wenn ich aus der Hand drehe 👍🏽

I'm going to college for fine arts with major in cinema, and I REALLY need/want this camera as my first one. Sadly can't afford to buy it. Can barely pay for the tuition fee for college lol.
Money is unfortunatly always the limiting factor. But Cinema is mainly Story and Plot. So if you have a Smartphone, this Camera will do lot more than any super8 Cameras big directors started in the past. There is no limit to creativity ✌🏼

6300 with Sony 16-55 f2.8 will always take incredible photos. If you take more sports/wildlife you may want to upgrade, otherwise, it's an incredible value.
Even for sports it’s not bad. I took action shots as an intern for a news station and the liked the photos so much they offered me a job.

I don’t know the ZV-E10 much. But tbh in most cases its better to keep what you got (camerawise) and Upgrade Lens, light or audio 👍🏽

Does the screen flip forward like in the a6100?
Sadly not. But I would recommend using an external recorder. So you can have that flipscreen, have Face Tracking while recording and no 30min Limit and overheating Problem 👍🏽

Yes, its pretty nice. The apsc sensor is even a positive factor because you get 1.5x closer to the animals!
If you want to shoot fast animals its maybe not the highest fps for photos.

@@violettamae9388 the crop is no Feature - all focal lengthes such as 16mm e.g. are compared to Full Frame Sensor. But if you have a smaller sensor you need to multiply with a certain factor. With apsc it is 1.5 👍🏽 in Full Frame cameras with more megapixels you can turn it on or off to simulate a smaller sensor

Would say yes, the lens would be more important here. It's a little easier with newer cameras and bird-eye-autofocus. But the a6300 still is a really great photography camera!

This camera is a BEAST - I shot an entire feature film on it and only have good memories. The image quality in general is nothing short than an ARRI or RED. The low light capability of this toy is the real s**t.
2022* This video came out a year ago.
Still same reason to buy it tbh - only new camera is fx30 in apsc and thats clearly better but also more expensive

@@herrclaveria4728 ich denke das ist ein normaler Preis - wenn nicht sogar etwas zu viel. Oft ist für 500€ noch ein Objektiv dabei. Aber meist nur das Kit. Aber viele Angebote gibts wohl aktuell auch nicht.
