      There are a few very knowledgeable running advisors/coaches up here on CZcams and there are some not so very knowledgeable ones to boot, but this guy has a lifetime of pure gold, for free, for anybody with a few minutes to spare. Seems bizarre that more wouldn't bite.

    If a sprint athlete were aiming to sprint reps (say 4x 250m) at ~90% of HR to hit their lactic threshold (as a means of indirectly aiding them to develop speed) but overshot this by going to quick (say in the 1st 2reps) would the magnitude of lactic levels be similar to that of completing all reps?

    I have a question, are vaporflies (super shoes) good to wear on threshold runs? Even though it’s effort based.

    • @pete5691
      @pete5691 Před rokem

      It wouldn’t matter because your goal is lactate levels. If they allow you to run faster easier you still need to run fast enough to reach that 82%.

    So what's better for 5K threshold training or intervals?

    • @Collin1215
      @Collin1215 Před 6 lety +2

      Nate Silvers I think it varies in different runners, since a competitive 5k requires pretty fast speed. In his book he suggest to start from rep training to intervals to threshold before your race.

      You need to correct mixture of both. You would use shorter intervals to build raw speed longer intervals to build extended speed and speed endurance. you typically need a day of both each week

      Hi Amanda, on Easy runs listen to your breath and make sure the effort remains conversational so run as slowly as you need to.

    @gunaseelanm3479 Před 3 lety

    Threshold and tempo same meaning ??

    • @VDOTO2
      @VDOTO2  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, great question. Oftentimes runners will conflate the two but we typically recommend Threshold in 1mi, 2mi, 3mi or 20 min workbouts. For many "tempos" start slower than Threshold and may finish near Threshold pace but are typically much longer in duration. We do recommend Marathon pace as longer/tempo like training sessions but mostly for marathon runners as practice sessions for their race.

    what does 5:1 or 1:2:3 WR mean in his book

    • @KillerHorst1993
      @KillerHorst1993 Před 6 lety +1

      Jesse Davis Work to rest ratio. For example, 5:1 W/R means that when you work for five minutes, you need to rest for one minute. The harder the work is, the longer you have to rest.

    To improve endurance should most of your training be Threshold training?
    Many so-called experts seem to think slow Zone 2 60-70% is best but to me that seems barely even beyond walking.

    • @VDOTO2
      @VDOTO2  Před rokem

      Hi Brandon, you should still train at other intensities as each helps the other but if your goal now is to improve endurance then you should emphasize training at your Threshold.
