I found the neck on my guitar to only be 4.9 times faster after doing this

Thanks mate. The shiny finish on my Fender Jazz has been something I've been meaning to do something about for years. Just tried this with a kitchen green scrubbing pad and 30 seconds later - perfect!

Thank you for this! I smoothened out my Gibson Les Paul Studio neck with the same method, it feels and looks so much better now :D

GREAT ADVICE from a serious PRO. Did this to a Telecaster with maple neck and now feels and plays MUCH better. BTW: Looks-wise you can barely tell it's a tiny bit less shiny than the glossy bits. Grazie Frudua!

Works great. I've done this to all 3 of my guitars, and it greatly improves my speed of movement, both up and down neck, and also from top to bottom. I found that I wasn't having to bend my wrist (or stretch my fingers) nearly as much because my palm was more readily sliding right into optimal position on the neck. Thanks much.

To everyone complaining about the speed vs musicality issue: some people, including myself, simply prefer the feel of a satin neck (or whole guitar). It's a lot softer to the touch and it definitely plays faster, even though I'm not a shredder by any means.

This is AMAZING! I was extremely skeptical of taking sandpaper to my guitar neck but I'm so glad I did. It's literally 10x faster, if not 20. Thank you so much Frudua, you keep making my life easier with my guitar. :D

It's amazing how a simple idea and video that many people use, can cause so many ignorant comments.

After months of deliberation since I first saw this video, today I did this to two of my guitars including a Squier CV telecaster (which has a very thick poly coat on neck) . I can say now that the improvement in feel alone makes this very worthwhile indeed. I'm not a shredder at all but it makes it easier to play and just feels delightful.

I think the reason it feels so much better is because with a gloss finish, one's hand tends to feel "slippy" gripping the neck, and therefor makes one clamp down more, whereas a satin finish feels more accurate, less prone to slipping, and therefor results in less of a "clamp" action with the hand. This relaxation allows for more fluid navigation of the neck and less hand fatigue. Some of it is just perception, but if it changes how you are holding it that makes it an important factor.

Wow I went for it on my PRS SE Custom 24 with 1000 grit sandpaper and it's smoother than satin, I thought I was going to regret when I was doing it but when I was done I couldn't be happier!

This is great. I live in Greece and did a gig the other day. My hand was sticking on the neck as it is so hot and humid here. l treated the neck on my strat as per the video and no more problems. Thanks.
