A Day in the Life of a Freshman Engineer | University of Michigan

- A (busier) day of my second semester as a freshman at the University of Michigan College of Engineering. Spend the day with me as I struggle through my 9am diff eq class, officially declare my major (yay!), fail a project team training, and even go on a late night pancheros/boba run! I kinda chose a ridiculously bleary day of the semester to record this vlog on, but I mean…that’s just Michigan winters for you. I’m also very awkward about recording myself and my surroundings in public, so whoops if some of the footage is questionable.
This vlog is dedicated to Aayana (last friend in the video)...sorry I never posted Chicago 2017, summer 2021, Chicago 2021, or any of the other ones you would have been in :,)

Terrific vlog. Will share.
omg you're alive
Nice video! Thanks for including food, in my opinion, one of the most important parts of the college experience! I remember you were really into SciOly in high school when you were going over ECs and stuffs in another video. I was wondering if you have any tips for success. It's sadly going to be my last season this year 😪 and I hope my team can get to nats
Haha food is definitely essential to any college experience. For scioly, I think the most important thing is to do as many practice tests as possible (for study events) and to develop a good routine with your partner. It really helps to have a clear practice schedule (meeting a couple of times a week for each event as things ramp up closer to states/nats) and to communicate well. To get to nats, it really has to be a team effort because even if you personally do well in all of your events, if a few have a bad day and get a 40th place or something it can be devastating, so figuring out which events your team finds the most challenging/most likely to bomb are and coming up with an action plan for them can help with that!
@@annas-universe Thanks for your wisdom Anna!
New video ❤️❤️
Michigan gang 💪💪
hey! im wondering if all umich engineeirng freshmen have to go into general engineering and declare a specific program in their sophomore year? is the first year just time for you guys to explore the different types of engineering, similar to engineering undeclared?
Hi! All the freshman engineers come in undeclared since most people’s first year prereqs are all going to be the same no matter what engineering they do, but you can declare as soon as your freshman first semester grades come out (late December/early January) and as late as the end of first semester of sophomore year I think. There is an optional 1 credit class called ENGR 110 designed for exploring the different engineering majors, but besides that your schedule is mainly just prereqs like math/physics/chem or possibly a few classes for your major before you’ve officially declared it (it helps to declare as early as possible if you have a lot of the engineering prereqs done with).
@@annas-universe oh wow that’s super interesting thank you so much for ur response :) best of luck with ur studies!
dang just saw this video. Incoming freshman intending to study NERS at UMich. What should I expect lmao
What engineering are you studying ?
Chemical engineering!
Well, I got rejected from CS at University of Washington.
sorry to hear that :( I'm sure you'll thrive wherever you end up though!
@@annas-universe I switched to oceanography though.
Please which campus in the university of Michigan. Flint?? Dearborn??
The Ann Arbor campus :)
@@annas-universe ohh thank you🥰 do you know anything about Dearborn??
The Dearborn, Flint, and Ann Arbor campuses are pretty separate from one another, so I actually don’t know too much about the other two!
@@annas-universe yikes! Thank you❤️
Please reply🥺🥺
you are so sweeat and cute that while watching your videos, i developed diabetes
lmao thanks
@@annas-universe love you ')
btw i'm really struggling to manage time om reading section, and my score is around 30. How can I improve it?
You are smart and elegant. Do you use twiiter or Linkedin?
Thanks! I don’t really use them much
@@annas-universe You just eat a small cup of oatmeal on breakfast. I don't think it's enough nutritions for the morning.
@@annas-universe Hope you enjoy programming. It's great and tough.
Yeahh it’s sometimes hard to get nutritious meals in when things are busy, but I usually just eat like 4-5 smaller meals a day to make up for it :D
@@annas-universe Do you have any Asian Friends? 🤔
Anna = Studious and introvert.
Am i right?
