This is so funny because I tried to go to 7-11 and the first time, I was asked if I wanted a bag. I didn’t know, but then I learnt from a friend that the keyword “fukuro” means if I wanted a bag.
Second day, I went back to the conbini. I was confident, but instead of Fukuro, the cashier said “atatamemasuka?” Which at the time, I didn’t understand. 😭 My friend said she asked if I wanted to heat up my food.
3rd day, I’m waiting for “fukuro” or “atatame”, but then she said “pointokado”, 😢.
But now I got it! I think 😂 This happened to me years ago, but your video covered it all and really brought back memories ❤.

I understood about half of what they were saying the first time and that makes me so happy. This time last year I probably would have only understood “hai” “ie” and “onegaishimasu”. This actually helped me learn the word for "warm" when I saw it a few weeks later in WaniKani lessons. I was already familiar with the word, because of this CZcams video. So now, I just think of Midori-san at the コンビニ when I want to remember the word for "warm."

I’m in Japan and this video helped me so much! Try to remember the keyword and you’ll be good. In Japan, they speak quietly and super fast so try to train your ears for that. Most of the time they will ask about the bag first and you can reply in English. For payment, you can just hold cash or a card and they’ll understand you in case you don’t want to interact with them.
