Gentle Giants who love their babies. I met an orangutan at Philly zoo. I had a lg mirror that I showed her and she was fascinated. She went back into the enclosure and brought her baby out to see the mirror. I loved that day so much. A few weeks later I heard horribly news on the TV. Orangutans are so special and humans have caused them so much pain and sorrow.
Imagine just existing in your home and a bunch of people come in and start following you around and taking your picture. He’s a lot nicer than I would’ve been if I were him. He was even striking poses 🤣

I saw one up close, behind glass at a zoo. I was mesmerized by its seemingly calm nature and noticed that even it's fingernails were orange as well! When I looked into its eyes I realized it's an animal. It's not human and cannot fend for itself being away from its natural habitat. They don't belong in zoos. We need to get them back home where they belong and protect them.

Male orangutans, especially dominant males like this one with cheek flanges, are 7-8x stronger than humans and the only reason he's this close is because he's overly habituated to humans. He was probably taken from his mother as a baby, kept as an illegal pet and brought to this sanctuary when rescued. I would guess this is Sepilok, which is known for having a terrible rehabilitation and release rate because they allow countless tourists to be this close the orphans they rescue.

Male orangutans, especially dominant males like this one with cheek flanges, are 7-8x stronger than humans and the only reason he's this close is because he's overly habituated to humans. He was probably taken from his mother as a baby, kept as an illegal pet and brought to this sanctuary when rescued. I would guess this is Sepilok, which is known for having a terrible rehabilitation and release rate because they allow countless tourists to be this close the orphans they rescue.
@@natbb9 The "faceplates" are called flanges and they're always in this position because they don't move; they're an extension of his face. Only the dominant males grow them but what he thinks or feels isn't reflected in the flanges
