Homemade DIY Labeling Machine for bottles

  • The machine works with paper on which the glue has already been applied, so you only have to get them wet with a little water to make the sticky. I think the right translation is "dull gum", in german it is "trockengummiert". You can buy this kind of paper in all kind of variations. I print them at home with a laser printer and cut them myself. This allows me to use the machine even if I only bottle very few bottles with lots of different labels.
    The colored roller is running in water and wets the labels. The roller above it pushed down and "removes" the water which is to much.
    The transparent parts are made out of polycarbonate, all rolles run on ball bearings.
    The papaper-pickup roller only runs for an adjustable time (time relais from ebay), this time has to be adjusted to the length of the label.
    The roller all the way in the front can be placed in different positions, it is not motor-driven. This allow to adjust the machine in order to label bottles up to 15cm in diameter. However, the minimum width of a labe for a 6cm bottle ist about 3-4cm, for a 15cm bottle it is about 10cm. I need to do further tests.
    I built the machine at my home with no access to a decent shop, you can do it too. I hope so of you might find this interesting enought to re-build it .

    How did you cut the polycarbonate sheets? What thickness were they?

    • @chixxxxi
      @chixxxxi  Před 8 lety +4

      The sides are 5mm if I remember correctly. Some parts, like the tray, are made out of an old front window from a police car. So it is partly bullet proof ;-)
      Polycarbonate is very very easy to work with. I just used my metall and wood saws an drills. Just don't go to fast cause it will melt.
      You might as well use wood or metall. The main reason I chose this material is so that you all can see how it works. But I started to love it!

    Hey there! Just wanted to ask you which is the material in which the rollers are made of? Are they made out of nylon or any other polymer? What about the furry surface of the pink roller that distributes the water to the label? Thank you very much and congratulations for the machine, it's really amazing!

    • @chixxxxi
      @chixxxxi  Před 8 lety

      +chisme92 I don't know exaclty to be honest. Some kind of soft foamy plastic, but I don't think it matters very much. The pink one is for painting...

    thanks for the prompt reply. ..you have made this for your ownself...you have done a great job..I think you can money out of this idea. why don't you patent it..then no one can copy it ... I have not seen this type of machine anywhere else. ..if you are going to make the drawing then can you share it??? ...will you give other people chance to manufacture it???

    • @chixxxxi
      @chixxxxi  Před 7 lety +1

      There is basically no real invention on this machine which could be made into a patent. Here in Switzerland I can not produce this machine for a reasonable price. I will share the drawings once finished, however, I don't know when this will actually be. I am trying to redesign it so that almost all of the parts can be 3D printed.

      ggo85 ....I understand your concern. ...I am in Malaysia. ...it can be cost effective here...if you want we can try to work together on this project...this can give you competitive edge...cheers

    • @chixxxxi
      @chixxxxi  Před 7 lety

      I will post here once the plans are finished, then this might be an interesting option. But as I already said, I can not promise a date when this will be done. Also, feel free to copy the machine, even if you go in production with the design I would have no problem with that.
