  • Did Jesus really come to do away with the Torah and give two new commandments? This is what many churches have come to believe. I think the Bible shows otherwise. I'll let you be the judge. helpconfusedchristian@gmail.com

    Thank you so much for this! I'm so happy I just found your channel! I work at a nursing home & there's a new resident (a Catholic) who was debating me, saying "oh I only do the new testament and Jesus only gave us one commandment." Well we know this is false. I'm compiling verses for him, "if you love me, keep my Commandments". What are those Commandments then? Well we know! But pray for me as I endeavor to lovingly help this man and not just debate

    I appreciate the effort and message in this video. After growing up in a Christian religion until my early 20 then leaving because I felt being an atheist just made more sense I am shocked I have found my way back to Abba, Yeshua and the Bible. I will admit I have come back kicking and screaming. I was lead back via the strangest most ludicrous topic I could imagine. Flat Earth. Though it's been well over a year since my journey started I still have no idea exactly what the shape of the earth is but I do know we have been lied to on a massive level. Learning the truth about what Gods laws are and that all of them still apply has cleared up so many of the misgivings I had toward the WORD. Today I bought the thread so that I can make my own tzitzits not because I am under the law but my new found faith in Yeshua and he who sent him compels me to out of love and respect for the amazing gift that we all have been given! Please keep up the good work Brother.

      Hi Whistler, thank you for coming to the channel. It's funny you mentioned flat earth, I myself looked into that. At first I thought it was completely crazy and I only looked into it for a laugh. However, there are facts that are on the side of flat earth. Like me, I am guessing Rob Skiba was involved. LOL. He is very good and has brought up amazing points that would be foolish to overlook. If I had to take a guess though I would say we are sitting on a globe, I just couldn't get past the Antarctica problem. However, my mind is still open and it is still very intriguing to me. I am glad you like the channel and even more glad you found your Father above.

      The Confused Christian oh yea Rob was a big part of getting me where I am now. I have to admit my denial about everything bible lead me down some pretty desperate paths to disprove the Bible so I could get back to "my life". At one point I wrote Rob an email with what I thought was a theory that would let me sleep at night again. I was wrong, I slept worse. For next 48 hours all I could think was "I can't believe I wrote that, let alone sent it to another human". It was that letter and the foolishness I was willing to entertain all in an effort to deny what I have now come to love and be amazed at daily. The Word.
      P. S. My theory was so outlandish in retrospect I hope Rob never read it. But it's probably hanging under a sign "If you think the Flat Earth is crazy read this letter."

    Matthew 5:18 “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished!“ (NASB)

    Yeshua said himself that he was not here to do away with the commandments of the Torah (Matt. 5:17) The only commandments he came to do away with was man made Oral Law (later written down in the Talmud). Sadly modern Christians will laugh at the Pharisees, and yet adhere to modern Oral Law in the way of church doctrine.
    May YHVH bless you and I thank you for this channel, it is a blessing to hear from someone else facing the same issues.

      I believe what Jesus was saying in Matt 5:17-18 is that He came to fulfill the law by giving us a new heart. The commandments He gives immediately after are the ones that fulfill the Law and these are the commandments that, if we break them and teach others to do as well, then we would be called the least on the kingdom of God. We see that He changed (taught the passing of) several OT laws right after making that statement.....
      Exo 21: 23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
      24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
      25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
      Matt 5: 38 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
      39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
      Deu 24: 1 ¶ When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
      2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
      Mat 5: 31 ¶ It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
      32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
      So already more than a jot has passed. At least for those who follow the fulfillment of the law. Let’s look at what I see as book ends to what He said...
      Matt 5: 17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
      Matt 7: 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
      The commandments that Jesus gives in between are just that. It’s not until we receive the new heart that we have the ability to follow with the right motives.....
      Jhn 15: 5 ¶ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
      So whoever has had the law fulfilled in them, are no longer under the Law. But Jesus didn’t destroy the law as if it’s not applicable to anyone. Whoever hasn’t been converted must keep every jot and tittle.....
      1Tim 1: 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
      10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
      Gal 5: 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
      19 ¶ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
      20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

      Gal 3: 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
      Gal 3: 19 ¶ Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
      The law was added because of transgressions. Because of Israel’s murmuring against God, He gave them commandments to keep them in line. The law is for the rebellious. Then the SEED came and changed the rebellious heart. We don’t need this Laws. We’re taught by God....
      1Thes 4: 9 ¶ But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
      The commandments that Christ gave, are the guidelines for how a Christian behaves......
      Gal 6: 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
      Jhn 15; 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
      11 ¶ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
      12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
      1Jhn 3: 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
      23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
      Matt 28: 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
      20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
      So we follow the commandments that Christ gave His apostles. They were sanctioned to teach it to all nations.....
      Matt 13: 10 ¶ And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
      11 ¶ He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
      So this is why we see Paul telling us that the Law is abolished (when he speaks to Christians)......
      Eph 2: 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
      2Cor 3: 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
      7 ¶ But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
      8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
      9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
      10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
      11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
      12 ¶ Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
      13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

    God gave His only Son to die in our place so that we might be adopted as sons (Ephesians 1:5; cf. Galatians 4:4-5). As children of God, we have a place of glory with Jesus Christ.
    The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Romans 8 :1-17
    Emphasis added we were never told we were Jews.

      Damari B, exactly fulfilled, not abolish meaning the law is still relevant today, He fulfilled the law in the sense that He lived as an example of what a life that pleases God looks like, and by faith in Him we will live in obedience to His law.

      Damari B Yeah, He’s the end of the law being used as a method to obtain righteousness. But the law isn’t done away with. (Go read Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 3:31 and James 2:17-26). Justification by faith isn’t a mere profession of faith or just saying you believe but your actions don’t reflect it (Titus 1:16)

    How right you are no one can obtain righteousness though the law. And how faith in Jesus Christ we received the promise to Abraham . He is your father in faith . Now what bothers me the most is that everyone who tells us about the law never makes mention of the Holy Spirit living in you righteousness peace joy .God is light. In him is no darkness at all if we walk in the light as he is we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sin . Do you know what the light is? If you hate you neighbor you live in darkness . If you explain the revelation of Jesus Christ to the un bornagain because flesh and bone can not save you. They will mock you with some kind of hairy potter thing. Whoever he is, walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh

    Galatians 5:13-14 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
    For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
    Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law of righteousness to everyone that believes.
    Why? Because whosoever in under the law is under a curse i.e. the wages of sin is death.
    God has concluded all have sinned and has appointed man once to die in the flesh. But Jesus came to save our souls. For the breaking of the law is sin, but if we believe in Jesus:
    Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
    Romans 13:8-10 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
    For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
    Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
    See Ac5s ch15; Romans ch3; and Gal. 5:4
    The law of Moses is the law of sin and death. It governs the flesh. God separated the people of Israel from the people of other nations.
    Peter, a Jew told Cornelius, a Gentile in Acts 10 that it was unlawful for a Jew to have any dealings with anyone of another nation.
    You see, God separated Israel out from the people of other nations. All the people of other nations were considered heathen by the law of Moses. Moses told the people of Israel that if they didn't obey that they would be scattered among the heathen. And the best a heathen could be under law is a bondservant by the people of Israel. Men, women and children were bought and sold.
    That's why it is foolish for preachers to preach sin to Gentiles. We were never under law of Moses. See Acts ch 15. We are under the grace of the Lord Jesus.
    Jesus is the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the whole world. He gave his life on the cross once for all our sin. And whoever believes in Jesus shall be saved. We are saved by grace through faith and not of our own doing. It is Jesus that saved us by what he did on the cross to take away our sin.
    He didn't to turn us into holier-than-thou hypocritical Pharisees, who thought they were righteous and despised sinners. They didn't believe in having anything to do with sinners. They asked Jesus disciples, Why does you master eat and drink with sinners? They looked down on sinners like the Pharisee looked down on the woman. Jesus had no sin, but they accused him of not keeping the Sabbath day. They hated Jesus and had him crucified.
    Everything Jesus did he did for sinners. He often took up for sinners, even giving his life for sinners.
    Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
    Hey, if you want more commandments of Jesus read Matthew ch 5,6,7 and Luke ch 6. And yet, the Gospels are filled with Jesus' teachings. Christianity is the New Testament, the is passed away.

    Hebrews speaks about the changes that come with the new covenant. For starts... the priesthood. If the answer is Torah, should you not be sacrificing animals? Should it not be a requirement to take upon you the seal/sign of circumcision? Sabbath is listed as a sign of the mosaic covenant.
    If you follow the history of men of faith throughout church history you would notice that the power of Almighty God working, doing miracles, saving souls, changing lives for His glory, ect... is not dependent on pronouncing Messiah's name in Hebrew, or keeping the 7th day sabbath, or feasts.(which I happen to love participating in, because they are pictures of what has been done and what will be done. It would be foolish to ignore the meaning behind the feasts.)
    If anyone tells you that the old testament is irrelevant they are very mistaken. All scripture is given for instruction in righteousness. I personally take the 7th day for rest, study and worship. Because in the end it says from sabbath to sabbath we will worship Him.
    How many examples did Christ give where people kept the letter and missed the mark? In the instance of the young ruler, he loved his wealth more than God, missing the greatest commandment. David - the sacrifices God desires is a contrition of the heart(paraphrase, can't remember verse at moment) = the first recorded command of Christ where John the Baptist left off which is repentance. David knew the heart of the things they were doing, the deeper meaning.
    Sacrifice is in the heart, circumcision is in the heart, sabbath is perpetual rest in Yeshua. (Hebrews) the entire organization of the priesthood changed. Changes in the law were required. Christ ushered in a new covenant, better than the old. The new testament is like an answer key to the old. It really enhances much of what is written in Torah. It deals more with character and attitude than a list of do's and do nots.
    Yeshua changed many things.

      Hi William, thank you for your post. First, I as well do not believe you have to call Him Yeshua, in my videos I will use Jesus for the viewers, however I prefer to use Yeshua because this is the name He was called. Now, on sacrificing animals, at this moment it is not in question, because there is no temple. But did you know in the 1000 year reign of our King Yeshua, we will go back to animal sacrifices once the Temple is reestablished? Now with that being said, I do agree with you on the point that you do not need to keep the entire Torah to have the Most High work miracles in your life. For example, I saw them in my own life before I began keeping His instructions, however He is continually calling us back to His ways during this process. However, I have to disagree with you on Yeshua changing parts of the Law. This goes against His own words in Matt 5:17 and breaks the Deuteronomy 13 test, which I have a video on. If you have time please watch. Yes, circumcision of the heart is required but so is circumcision of the flesh Ezekiel 44:9.

      The Ezekiel prophecy also speaks of Sacrifices for sins. Some have told me the prince is Jesus. Why would our Messiah who knew no sin offer sacrifices for himself and Israel? Jesus Christ our Lord was the final sacrifice for sins.
      See Hebrews 10.
      Once for all.
      Ezekiel temple could have happened but did not. Animal sacrifice started when the Father skinned a lamb to cloth Adam and eve. If animal sacrifice reconvenes in the future I don't think it will be to cover our sins.
      For by one sin. By one sacrifice.

      sacrifices changed. temple worship changed as we become temples ourselves. we become priests, not of the levitical priesthood. circumcision of the flesh is no longer a requirement. (circumcision is physically beneficial though)
      Ordinances changed. What displeases God has not changed. God did not delight in the blood of animals, but in obedience. What you showed me in Ezekiel is that circumcision of the heart is not only a new testament concept! I appreciate that. reinforces people were saved before the arrival of Messiah by faith the same as after He came. People have been looking since Gen 3.

      I have found more circumcision of the heart in Torah in Duet. I don't know how many times I have read these verses and glossed right over some of it. That's why continual study is important. Shalom.

      Hi William, sorry it has taken me so long to return a comment. I would love to have more time for this channel but right now with three boys, work, and my own studies it gets hard. Thanks for the post, I feel the same way. There are so many verses I now see that somehow I didn't before, no matter how many times I read them. This is a learning process for all of us, there are so many things I still do not understand and I am sure there are many things I am getting wrong. However, that's why I love having this channel, it gives me the opportunity to learn from all of you. Sometimes I may agree, sometimes I may not, but we can all grow from it.

    The only thing is there is a passage that Jesus claim to be god and man, I am confused also this command that " believe and follow her and you re be save for your sin. So maybe we cant blame the Jewish people if they not believed in Jesus as thier Messiah.

      God gave us free will to choose to live our lives in sin and reject him or to turn away from sin and accept him God doesn’t make anyone anything we choose our lifestyle that’s why on judgement day we will all have to answer for our own sins

    Jesus command is to love like he loved you on the cross. The cross is where he took your sins away, you receive that love and give it away. That fulfils the law.
    Everything he says you do by faith in how he loved you. He took your sins away so he could come live in you. What you have to do is deny yourself, take up your cross and follow him. Everything else is nonsense.
    In Matthew 22 he was simply answering a question.
    He was not teaching his disciples.
    To be a disciple of Jesus, your main concern is John 15:12, and John 13:34.
    1 John 5 is talking about love, it's all about love. If you don't love like Jesus loved you on that cross you'll never know God. You'll stay like Moses under law with a veil over your face. Grace is Jesus living in you, everything else is nonsense.
    The old testament is good for learning what God likes and doesn't like. But, if you don't follow Jesus and how he loved you on the cross, you'll never produce God on the earth and you'll never know him accurately.
    Plus, you could end up condemned because without giving away his love, how he loved you.. you may never learn to forgive from your heart. And that is the most important thing.
    Learn the cross, learn love, and you'll know God. Everything else will just puff you up with knowledge. Knowledge is good, but without love it's nothing.
    It can make you very judge mental if your not humble.

      The veil Moses wore was to calm the Israelites after coming off of the mount. He wore it because his face was glowing not because he had a lack of understanding.
