As someone who absolutely loves these games I can’t wait to see more reactions! Fun fact: A big theme in Persona games, especially Persona 5 is Non-Conformity, Self expression, and rebellion. All of the art in these openings reflects that with the semi graffiti style, and the music behind them always emphasizes this. You've gotta check out the openings for the other games, 5's openings are purposely vague and doesn't give you too many hints about the game, none of them really do, but whereas 1, 2, 3, and 4 use their openings to set up intrigue, 5 primarily uses them as a showcase of the game's excellent style. 3 and 4 both had a more "figure out what's going on" vibe with 3 having you ascend a massive tower to vaguely save the world from a thing called the dark hour (which is the best way I can explain it without any spoiler) whereas 4 is a murder mystery game. 5 is more of a heist movie type deal in a sort of parallel world, but with the caveat that they can steal a special treasure from someone to get them to admit to all of their crimes, so basically you're playing Robbin Hood. In the time between these plotlines in every game you also have to juggle the ordeal of being a high school student. It's an excellent series and I highly recommend you check it out.

The Persona 5 openings is less about lore and more about showing its special visuals and animations, from what I gathered, The Phantom Thieves (Which are made up of the main 7 people and probably a bit more, Joker, Skull, Fox, Noir, Queen, Futaba which is the lady that's computer smart, and the cat) are a band of people who enter called the metaverse, a supernatural realm born from humanity's subconscious desires, their whole goal is stealing malevolent intent, in other words, they're good people, doing stuff in a crazy realm made up of somebody's freaky desires, all because that somebody is starting to either affect or be affected by their desires in the real world.
Thus, there's the line you kept seeing, "Take your heart", in a way stealing bad desires.

to answer Bethany's question at the end, each one of the main games has a primary theme, the dancing one is a spin off game but it mainly goes as such.
P3: memento Mori, never forget that you are mortal and must face death eventually. (probably has the best story)
P4: facing the truth and not letting other things and people cloud your judgment and trying to see past lies and deception (played as a murder mystery and probably has best characters)
P5: Rebellion against corruption and being the one to stand up rather then just taking whatever's thrown at you. (best style and villains. especially with the Royal edition.)

As everyone explained the concept of P5, I’ll try my best to tell you guys about the main cast without getting much into spoilers. They basically form into Phantom Thieves in the Metaverse, basically an alternate reality where cognition takes shape, depending on a person’s view.
    - The black-hair guy (Codename: Joker) is the main protagonist. After a run-in inside a Palace, Joker awakens to his Persona. During the heist, his abilities increase as he is able to wield multiple Personas. He was then made the leader of the Phantom Thieves.
    - The little cat is Morgana (Codename: Mona). Morgana is a strange being that Joker runs into while in the Metaverse. While he looks like a cat, Morgana claims that he was human, or so he thought. In reality, he takes the form of a normal cat.
    - The blonde hair guy is Ryuji Sakamoto (Codename: Skull). He was a track & field athlete in Shujin High School who became an outcast due to an incident involving a abusive P.E teacher. Despite having a rough life, Ryuji is very protective of anyone he cares about when they get hurt.
    - The twin-tailed girl is Ann Takamaki (Codename: Panther). A quarter American-Japanese girl who is not only a student but also a famous model. She, Ryuji, and Joker all have a common goal, leading them to form the Phantom Thieves.
    - The blue-haired guy is Yusuke Kitagawa (Codename: Fox). Yusuke is the first member to join after the thieves have been formed. He is an oddball who’s into Japanese arts.
    - The short-brown haired girl is Makoto Niijima (Codename: Queen). She’s a class president of Shujin Academy, the same school the protagonist attends. As such, she makes sure that students are studying hard. She also serves as the tacticion of the Phantom Thieves.
    - The orange hair girl is Futaba Sakura (Codename: Oracle). Futaba is a hacker who became a shut-in after her mom got into a tragic accident. After overcoming the truth, Futaba joined the thieves to avenge her fallen mother. Futaba doesn’t directly fight, she only specializes in navigation and back-up.
    - The girl in pink is Haru Okumura (Codename: Noir). Her father is the president of a food-chain company. She became a thief when her father puts her in a arranged marraige.

In a recent video I mentioned Super Butter Buns for her For Beginners series, so it is super convenient that you are looking into Persona 5. She has a somewhat meaty video, I think somewhere in the 30-45 minute range if I recall correctly, that is an entertaining dive into the game and story. Also it is a great video to start into her content with. Persona 5 is a bigger beast than anyone, even longtime fans of the series, could have expected going into it.

The most recent Tales of game Tales of Arise is getting an anime soon and some other project but the other series have openings for both the games and animes.
More importantly Tales of often gets Ufotable to do the animation and they're known as one of the best anime studios in the last decade. They also did stuff for a few other games like the Fate series and Grand Blue Fantasy but Tales of is known to put some of those animations in the actual game and have these cool openings like Persona.

Persona is a series in another series as I understand it. The „main title“ is Shin Megami Tensei. P5 also was split into multiple games. P5 / P5 Strikers / P5 Royal. P5S has different mechanics from the base of the classic P5 or JRPG and iirc has a continued but seperate story to P5 with some additional characters. P5R is more or less the slightly reworked P5 with extended but same story and one added character.
Overall motivation is to change people’s hearts. To achieve this the group hast to enter the „mind dungeon“ of the target and steal their heart (as in things they love).
The big second part is the dating sim with your companions to get bonus in dungeons.
There are also „main-side“ characters which you have to interact with a lot. But they aren’t part of the active party you take to battle.
I hope this can give you a small glimpse of what Persona is about.
PS: There is a set timer to complete the game. Which is one year and you can only do so much in one day. In addition there are certain activities you can only do on specific times and or days. So max out your relationships you have to micromanage a bit.
And there also is a part of collecting Pokémon in it.

*I'm not someone who's finished Persona 5, but I'd say to explain the game in the most basic way possible, you play as the "Phantom Thieves".*
*They're a group of (mostly) high schoolers that are secretly vigilantes (Joker's the leader) who enter people's minds to "change their hearts".*
*Who's hearts you might ask? Usually bad people, ranging from a pervert teacher, to a crime boss, to a corrupt politician, and many others.*
*The "cat" is Morgana, he has 3 different forms, one of which is a minivan because, magic I guess... In the game when night comes and you try to do any activities, do homework, play video games, start a Mission, etc. Morgana would constantly remind you how you should "go to sleep", which I think became a meme at some point.*
*Oh and another thing, this game is all about time management. Missions have time limits, so you gotta make the most of it. Choosing when to study for the test, do homework, hang out with friends, even doing Phantom Thief related stuff. Though when I say "time limit", I mean time only passes when you do an action and stuff.*
*Not to mention doing stuff can improve your skills, doing good in school increases intelligence, hanging out with fellow Phantom Thieves can improve both your relationships and their abilities in combat, and other stuff.*
*Though if you're considering getting persona 5, Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal are mostly the same game, except Royal comes with slight improvements, a few changes to the story, not to mention it's much easier than the original, at least what I heard.*

So to explain the intros the very first intro is from Persona 5 Royal which is an expansion/rework of Persona 5. Every Persona game has gotten one of these changes typically consist of adding in more Persona's, reworking of the combat system either minorly or majorly, adding in cutscenes for more context/smoother story telling and changing how enemies fight. Second Intro is Persona 5 itself, also don't be fooled despite the dancing there is very little to none of it actually in the game. 3rd Intro for Person 5 Dancing it's something that the recent Persona game gets its basically a rhythm game. Intro after that is for the animation, the animation is basically the story condensed into an anime meaning that you get only certain aspects of the story typically the most important stuff while the non-critical elements are shifted to the side. Next is Persona Q2 this is a game for the 3DS hence the very 'chibi' style artwork it's a game that's essentially a huge crossover between Persona's 3, 4 and 5.
Game after that is Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5 Strikers is a Dynasty Warriors style game made by the Dynasty Warriors crew, this game is rather unique in Persona as it's one of the few games that's an actual sequel to the main game instead of a spin off like Dancing and Persona Q2. The names that appear next to the character are the characters codename/Phantom Thief name which they use when they enter the metaverse.
The character's code names are, Joker, Panther, Skull, Fox, Queen, Noir, Oracle and Mona. The cat's real name is Morgana and he's hard to explain without giving away major story details if you two wished to play the game.
Persona is originally a Video Game series but it's been so popular it was given an anime series. Keep in mind that the anime is strictly a "Bare Bones" of events and focuses only on major story details if you wanna get absolutely everything you gotta play the game. The smashing of buildings in Persona 5 Royal can't be explained again without giving away major story details but the safest I can say is them smashing 'society' in a sense and not in a negative way.

So I came into the Persona Series when Persona 5 came out, it's a game. The first 2 trailers you saw were the main game, Persona 5 Royal (the first opening which was a sort of remaster of Persona 5 with extra content added) and Persona 5 (the second opening which was the original that came out in 2016). Both Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal are under the genres of: roleplaying game, dungeon crawler, life simulation, simulation, social-simulation, and strategy game.
Despite seeing dancing in both of the 2 first openings there is no dancing in the games, however, the third opening was for the spin off series for Persona which is a rhythm game with dancing.
Persona 5 did get an anime series for the games which was the fourth opening.
The fifth opening was another spin off game series for Persona, which that one was called Persona Q2 which does show characters from Persona 3 and 4 in it with the Persona 5 cast.
The sixth opening was for the semi-sequel game of Persona 5 called Persona 5 Scrambled, however when it was released globally it became Persona 5 Strikers, which is more action based than Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal which are turn based games.

All right, some additional context and explanations for you:
    - Persona 5 Royal is basically an extended cut of the original game, and is the definitive edition of the story. It adds in a whole bunch of new and revised gameplay systems, a new story arc and a whole bunch of new characters, notably best girl 'Sumi Yoshizawa (the redhead dancing with the umbrella).
    - Dancing Star Night is a dancing/rhythm game spinoff; there are also similar games starring the casts of Persona 3 and 4, respectively.
    - Persona 5 The Animation is what is says on the tin, an animated adaptation of the game. It's not great, unfortunately, but the English dub does make up for the dodgy animation to an extent. There is also a Persona 4 animated adaptation which is really excellent, and well-worth checking out if you ever get the opportunity.
    - Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a dungeon crawler spinoff for the Nintendo 3DS in the vein of Etrian Odyssey; one of the major gameplay gimmicks is you have to draw your own map of each level and dungeon on the lower touchpad. Storywise, it's a crossover event between the casts of Personas 3, 4 and 5, including the return of the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable.
    - Finally, Strikers is a sequel/Musou spinoff with Dynasty Warriors-style hack-and-slash combat instead of the usual turn-based JRPG system.

It has amazing storytelling and acting that really gets you emotionally invested in all of the characters you meet and what's going on around them. Persona 5 is a lot of things ...
First off, it's a life sim, where you go to class, work, hang out with your friends, etc.
However, there are alternate worlds you can go into, where you use superpowers in order to make changes to the real world.
Joker is a special case, being the main character in a persona game ... where other characters have one persona (their true self with powers), Joker can collect dozens of personas, making it also a persona collecting game.
That's the main game, but there are a few spinoffs.

  • @KingKP96
    @KingKP96 Před rokem +1

Persona 5 is a masterpiece of a game...and one that is impossible to try and figure out from the openings alone. So the games shown were:
    * Persona 5 which is the base game that everything else stems from. To put it in it's most basic form it's a turn based JRPG that plays a bit like Pokemon and traditional Final Fantasy put together while you infiltrate different dungeons. The other half of the game is a day to day life simulator where you play as the main character and spend your time however you want doing things like hanging out with the other characters, working part time jobs, improving your social and life skils, ect.
    * Persona 5 Royal is Persona 5 with a chunk of content added that gives the game new characters, new dungeons, new things to spend your time doing, changes to existing dungeons and bosses to make them more unique and challenging, and a new final boss/ending. It extends a game that's already about 100-125 hours on a first playthrough to about 150 hours.
    * Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight is as the name suggests, a dancing game. More specifically it's a rhythm game similar to something like Guitar Hero or Rock Band where you need to time your inputs to match the music. It's filled with music from the game, both original and remixes that every character has a dance scene that they perform during. Actual professional dancers were mocapped to make them look as fluid and unique as possible and it delivers. There's actually a mode that just lets you watch the dancing which is what a lot of people get the game for.
    * Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a chibi styled game where characters from Persona 3, 4, and 5 all cross over for a more traditional dungeon crawler/turn based RPG experience. It's a bit hard to put the game into words, but just think of it like the main game but more cutesy and having fun with itself versus the main series which are usually a lot darker and tackle heavier issues.
    * Persona 5 Strikers is a combination of a Dynasty Warriors type game where you hack and slash through hoards of enemies and traditional Persona games where you're able to attack in a semi-turn based format. The game itself is a direct sequel to Persona 5 (Not Royal though) and is one of the most unique Warriors style games ever created.
    * Finally Persona 5: The Animation...which is not a game as you probably guessed by the title. It's an anime version of the game for either fans of the game or people who don't want to sink 100+ hours into the game. Unfortunately the anime is pretty lackluster for the most part (which is usually the case for anime adaptations of games) but it's just a nice supplementary thing to have I suppose.

To summarize in a simple manner without spoiling anything of noteworthy value: Persona 5 (and specifically to persona 5 since all numbered persona games have their own individual stories and characters, so you don’t have to play prior games to understand later ones) is a game about a new high school transfer student (Joker) who is starting his new year in the city of Shibuya at Shijun Academy.
Soon, however, he learns that those with important positions of power in society are horribly corrupt and are taking advantage of the people-and more specifically-kids through ignorance, abuse, or sex in order to fulfill their own selfish and twisted desires.
However, upon learning this revelation our MC (due to plot reasons) learns to harness the ability to enter people’s hearts (basically their minds) which grants him the ability to change people’s hearts by “stealing their distorted desires.”
Realizing that the adults who are supposed to protect and lead in society are corrupt, our MC dawns the secret identity of “Joker” and together with fellow schoolmates who have been labeled as misfits by society, he’ll create a group known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts (not a spoiler) in order to steal the dark desires of evil adults in the hopes of creating a better-safer society, unaware of the possible ruin that awaits them and the city.

Yeah, Persona is a Turn based JRPG video game series, but each main entry often has side projects.
For P5, there is the main game, Persona 5 Royal which is a re-release with tons of extra content and new story parts. Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight is a rhythm game spinoff. Persona 5 Strikers is a direct sequel to the original P5 but is an action game in the style of the Dynasty Warriors series. Persona Q is a spinoff that connects the different Persona casts, so has all the characters from Persona 3, 4 and 5. And then Persona 5 The Animation is the story of the original game, but told as an anime.
Also I think there was an opening missing lol.The Persona 5 anime has 2 openings I believe, but you guys only saw one here.

Persona is a JRPG series akin to something like Final Fantasy and Pokemon.
The key difference is that it's half social simulator and half RPG. By day you play as a transfer student and meet new people and improve your relationships with them, and by night you use the power of your *Persona* to traverse otherworldly dungeons and fight monsters.
Each numbered Persona title has a whole new cast of characters and a whole new story. In this video you saw the cast of Persona 5 specifically and all of their different spinoff games and anime. And the "Persona Q2" opening you saw is a crossover between the casts of Persona 3, 4, and 5.
Also the dancing game is just a dancing spinoff 😂 but with the music i can't blame you for thinking it's a dancing series. The Persona series of games are mostly known for having good music and nice style. Hope this helps!

Alright I know everyone has already explained what Persona 5 as a whole is so I'm not gonna go into that, but since I haven't seen anyone explain the different opening I thought I would try and clear the confusion. The second opening you watched is from the original Persona 5, while the first is from the updated re-release, Persona 5 Royal which adds more to the story and even a new party member (the red haired girl with the umbrella). The third one is from Dancing Star Night which is a rhythm game spin off that's set as a dream the Phantom Thieves are having some time before the ending of the original game (or after, I don't really remember that well). Next is the intro for The Animation which is basically an anime adaptation of the game. The chibi one was Persona Q2, which is actually a crossover between Persona 5 and its two direct predecessors, Persona 3 and 4. It's worth noting that while all Persona games are largely independent from each other, they are part of the same universe; with Persona 4 taking place two years after Persona 3, and Persona 5 taking place around five years after P4 (it's never been stated exactly how much time passed between P4 and P5 but most people agree it's probably around five years). Q2 brings the groups from all three games from halfway through their respective games and there's actually a whole point of the game where the groups realize they come from different times. Finally, the last intro is from Persona 5 Strikers, which is a Warriors-style spin off that also acts as a sequel to the original Persona 5 (or Royal, it's not really clear since Strikers was developed at the same time as Royal), that's set about half a year after the original game.
Hope this helps clear some of the confusion :D

The Persona is really the gold standard in Turn-based RPG's. What makes them stand out is they're dripping with style. As people said online "if people are cosplay your Menu UI you did something right". And yes people were cosplaying the UI.
The games are known for their unique art style, soundtracks and dark stories with complex characters.
P5 is about a group of teenagers fighting against social and political corruption that nearly destroyed them by basically brainwashing their tormentors by entering warped versions of the bad guy's perspections.
You were right in that there were different genre in these openings you watched. In order they were for the re-release (P5 Royal), the original opening (P5), the second opening to the Animated series, the rhythm game spin off (P5 Dancing in Starlight), the second crossover game with P3 and P4 (Persona Q2), and the Dynasty Warriors like spin off (P5 Strikers/Scramble).

When it comes to Persona games there is no opening they could do that could truly show someone new to the games what they are getting into without heavily spoiling things. With the exception of the dancing games you are fighting in each of them as well as racing sort of against a clock as the characters have a year or so to do what they are doing. These are school kids after all and so they have to juggle their lives with their Persona stuff, all while no one realizes what they are doing. If you want to know more then I would suggest either watching the anime, which will show you what happens more or less in the original Persona 5 (as Persona 5 Royal is more like a slightly alternate world) or you could play the game for yourself, because that is the best way to experience a persona game. As a long time fan of Persona, and most Shin Megami Tensei games, I recommend them to anyone looking for a game with a good story that touches upon serious issues while remaining fun, good characters, tons of content to play through, a challenge with time management, and most of all great music. If you don't believe me on the music just look it up and hear for yourself, you'll be bopping to it along with the rest of us before long.

To clarify, Persona 5 is a game with many spin-offs as well as an anime based on it. Persona 5 is the latest in a series of games that take place in the same world, though the characters from one game rarely ever meet the ones from the others, and the Persona series itself is a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series.
Now the first opening you watched was from Persona 5 Royal, an upgraded and expanded version of the original Persona 5 (which was the second opening you saw) which has new characters and locations, new gameplay mechanics and levels newly redesigned to incorporate them, and a new expanded "true path." It was worth picking up and playing even if you had played through and beat the original.
The third opening was from Persona 5: Dancing Star Night, a rhythm game spin-off featuring the songs from the main games (which is a huge presence in the games) as well as some new songs made specifically for this spin-off.
The fourth opening was from Persona 5: The Animation, the anime that re-tells the story of the original game in an episodic fashion. Not much more to say about that, though it wasn't as well received as Persona 4: The Animation which did the same with that game.
The fifth opening was from Persona Q2, a spin-off which brings together the heroes of Persona 3, 4 and 5 to face off with a new threat.
Finally the last opening was from Persona 5 Strikers (or Scramble, depending on what part of the world you're in), the sequel to the original Persona 5 that puts the heroes and enemies of P5 into a Warriors-style gameplay.
Note that I said nothing about the story of these games. That you have got to experience for yourself, for once you get into it you will be sucked in until the end, and you should definitely start with Royal. I think that you would enjoy it.

So some background information on this series. Persona 5 is the *sixth* main installment of the Persona franchise, which in itself is a spin-off of the much larger Megami Tensei franchise. Like it’s parent series it deals with recruiting monsters to fight alongside you, however while it’s parent franchise deals with post apocalyptic wars caught in the crossfire between angels and demons with ideological views as a focus, Persona instead focuses more on the psyche and forming interpersonal relationships in a school setting. The series is an anthology with a rotating cast with returning characters technically starting with Shin Megami Tensei If... then Persona 1, Persona 2 Innocent Sin then Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. Afterwards they dropped the returning characters in favor of standalone anthologies with different themes, settings and even powers. Persona 3 was a game that focused on mortality and overcoming it, Persona 4 focused on finding the truth in a society full of misinformation, and Persona 5 which you are reacting to focuses on identity and breaking free from the shackles of an oppressive society. This spin-off franchise even has it’s own spin-offs in the forms of phone games, fighting games, dancing games and even crossovers which is a ton to explore. There’s even manga and anime!

  • @behzadmirmozaffari2563

There is a somewhat like Pokémon system, we’re You also collect enemies to help you. You can also combine them together to make new and stronger ones. I hear the stories for each game are good and long. Each game has it’s own story and characters. I’ve only seen and played a little of persona four and five, it takes place in a school, you make friends and plan out your week to hang out need to get to know them. which will make you stronger so when the crazy stuff happens you will be ready. 11:26 Beth, It's everything you said you wanted and more!
Persona 5 Royal is a Turn-based RPG and the "Definitive" (pun questionably intended) version of Persona 5 because it has more story and all the DLC automatically in it.
Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight is a Rhythm game with *some* story in it.
Persona 5 Strikers is an action RPG where you fight your way through armies of enemies (kinda similar to God of War, kinda)
Persona Q2 is also a Turn-based RPG but with Persona 3, 4 and 5 altogether
This is listed in order of recommendation, as Persona 5 (Royal) is the First in the Time-Line
PS: You can definitely skip DiS if rhythm games are not your thing, that game is a bunch of kids having a good time in a disco, but you won't miss much (if any) of the story...

I would suggest looking into the works of Carl Jung, all Persona games are based on his theories of psychology. It even informs the name itself as he invented the concept of the persona and the masks we wear in society.

We saw a couple different things here so really quick, Persona 5, Persona 5 the Royal, and Persona 5 Scramble are the main games. Persona 5 being like the main first one and Persona 5 Scramble being the Sequel to it. P5 the Royal was kinda like, the deluxe version of the story. Adding in new main characters and expanding the story more, extending the original story past where it ended in the first game, and adding more to the side content. Unfortunately the stuff that Royal added in didn't get mentioned in Scramble, most likely because it was still in development when Royal came out so there wasn't time. Persona 5 Q2 Labyrinth is as it looks like, a really cute side game that exists as a crossover of peoples favorite Persona games (that being 3,4, and 5.) Dancing Star night is a dancing/rhythm game. P5 The Animation is the anime adaptation of Persona 5.
Actual story is a bit hard to wrap your head around but basically Persona is a bit like Final Fantasy in the sense that each one is about a different group of people. Persona 5 is about a group of teenagers discovering a power that lets them change the hearts and minds of people who are corrupt to make them a different, more ethical person I suppose who is ashamed of the terrible things they've done. Thats a pretty barebones explanation but thats about the gist of it.

    Winter Request Fest?
Also, I know that I have been recommending Persona Openings before, but just the Persona 5 Openings? I was not expecting that, I was thinking more towards doing all of the Persona Openings throughout the Series,
but I guess, as long as you’re doing Persona at all, i am fine with it, i hope you’ll do the rest of them eventually.

Persona 5 is one of my favorite games of all time and there is tons of stuff to watch. Id recommend all Persona 5 awakenings and then maybe Boss cutscenes as well. Mementos dialogues have hours and hours of but if there is a "best of" you could find that's shorter id recommend that as well

For a better understanding of the game, you can look into Honest trailers - usually short and explain the gameplay. There is one for the whole Persona series, so you can combine it with Persona 4 openings for example)
