    Awesome! This is the sorta thing that initially attracted me to SBG and your youtube channel. It's about building to Scale!!
    A couple suggestions: sand away those projections along the top front side of each front fender and pad (build up) the bottom of the grille so it mounts vertical. I did those and other mods on my Blazer and I think it's worth the effort. Looking forward to this series!!

    I know its not the build you are going for, but the chrome rims would put the width about right for a railroad service truck. As all of their single rear wheel trucks have the tires tucked way in so they work on the rails.
    And as popular as the square body Chevy is, I am surprised no one makes a good off the shelf body. Mod19 did a really good job on this truck. Looking forward to seeing how you finish this out.

    Matt
    When you get a moment look up up the Quagmyr Chevy pickup. This would be a project (if you chose to except it) I'd love to see you tackle. It would encompass everything you want to do. Hardbody, custom tube work and originality. I say that because I bet no one in RC has done it. And if they have its certainly not to the level of scale/realism you can accomplish. You built a steam powered Jeep, you could do this. Again, just a thought and would appreciate your input. I'm looking forward to this series and many thanks for all the efforts.
    Cheers!!!

    One of the things that has always bothered me about converting the RC4WD Blazer to a pickup is the fact that the back of the cab isn't correct. The Blazer has a vertical back face with a hard edge at the roof. The pickup's cab has a slight angle (lean towards front) and a radiused edge at the roof. I am actually in the process of creating a new printable back cab section that will properly convert the Blazer to a single cab pickup. I will then see what I can do to fix the abhorrent angle on the leading edge of the front fenders and grille. Not sure why it was designed like that initially, but man it makes my eyes bleed looking at it. :)
    Look forward to seeing what you do with this Matt. If I can get off my you-know-what and get the design finished up, I might shoot the file(s) your way for the cab back.

    Similar to what you have on RF, the Dick Cepek Radial FC II. The sidewalls are a little on the shiny side but I'm sure you'd know what to do about that. I had a set on my TF2LWB LC70. So friggen scale. Almost too scale for the LC70, really. Could be perfect for something like this.

    Sorry if I missed it but what are the larger tires you have on there? They look like the old school bias snow tires of the 70's-80's and I have a build in mind they would be perfect for depending on diameter.

    What settings do you use when you print the hard bodies on your printer? Did you adjust your layer height to try and get better quality, slower speeds to help reduce the amount of back end sanding?

      @scalebuildersguild  Před 2 lety

      .20 layer height, 65% infill for body panels, quality mode on the Prusa. I still have to do quite a bit of sanding.

      @@scalebuildersguild on the road to scale nats video you uses the UV resin to help smooth out the layer lines and help with sanding. have you tested that anymore if so how well has it worked with the sanding and painting?

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  Před 2 lety +1

      @@blahgor123 It works very well, and I'd definitely recommend it. Since I've already done some filling and sanding on this project, I wouldn't go back and do that in this case.

    Where would a battery mount on a scale rig like this?

      The CMAX has a lot of space under the interior. Thanks for watching!

      You could try and find a 3d file online, but that's not one I'm familiar with.

    Nice vid! Do you have any plans to fix the weird angle of the front fenders?

      I have a 78 2wd short box and the fenders on the rc3wd blazer drive me crazy. Much like the a pillar on the 2nd gen hilux. Which I've owned 4 or 5. Keep up the good work. Been inspired by you since your wraith build with hilux skins.
