I see for the first time in a long while, board manufacturers are actually innovating based on modern case placement and requirements instead of relying on the same front-pinned designs that force horrific cable angles around the edges.
I want to praise them for doing it. But I also want to make fun of them for not doing it sooner, since we've seen entire companies formed under the idea of making "power plates" that attach to the back. I guess they saw the market value finally.
There are some downsides, but mostly positive. I cover all this in my build video which should be out tomorrow
Oh god im in love at first sight.
So you love the box then?
@@pillepolle3122 yea nutted all over the box bro
It looks even better in the case. Build video should be out tomorrow
Cant wait to see new cases adaptation also! Thanks Chris!
Coming soon!
I love the look of these MB, hope it takes off.
I think it might just do that
Looks very good and obviously right up to date
Cutting edge, I was very impressed with the build
This standard will be the mATX and ITX savior.
ITX especially
Just wow. Wow. Fantastic
Thanks
can't wait for the build! Will this clash with most cases, though? As in, no place for the sockets to poke through to the back of the case?
Yes it won't be compatible with most cases, you'll have to look for "BTF" specific cases but they are starting to be available already.
Bring out the Dremel
At the moment yes, but going forward more and more cases will support it
One of the best looking motherboard to ever exist
Agreed it's a nice looking motherboard
btf awesome style
Agreed
Thanks, Chris. I think the 'BTF' concept is definitely a step in the right direction, but I'm only willing to get onboard (no pun intended) if it becomes an industry-wide standard. As you indicated, time will tell whether or not this happens. I think it would be real a shame to see it pass on by as some kind of temporary novelty. (Also, ASUS is charging way too much for their products these days. I think their profiteering will ultimately bite them in the hind parts.)
Build done and I'm converted. You can watch it tomorrow. Some new problems created, but big improvements in looks. Having done the build I think this will catch on.
@@ChristopherFlannigan Groovy! 👍🏼
Hey Chris, I'm guessing the answer is no, but I'm just trying to make sure.
BTF boards can use both BTF GPU and standard GPU that's understandable. But how about the other way around? Can BTF GPU fits in any non BTF motherboards? It's quite hard to see from the angle whether it has a power slot or not.
Is this a new release board, like the "refresh" series that gigabyte and asus just released for the 14th gen or this older than that?
It's new. The back connector is the new bit
So when will they give us am5 btf ? Can’t find info on it
Game changer
agreed
3:59 *CPU_OPT: ¿Por qué está del lado frontal y no en la parte trasera?...*
I ask myself if there is a special case is needed because all the ports are on the backside...
I really like the GPU BTF. Hope this gets standardized
I think it will
Board looks nice, not $530 nice but cool.
With time hopefully there will be more budget options
What if your gpu needs more than 600 watts? You can’t use that ?
Whens the AMD version coning??
Cases barely have enough room for management behind them let alone cables poking out lol, every case needs at least an inch imo between the case side and motherboard tray.
I cover this in my build guide out tomorrow, but yes you need much more space at the back
@@ChristopherFlannigan Indeed, that has been the one thing that constantly frustrates me not so much for cable management but the SATA connectors and power leads that poke out.
Need a good inch of space so nothing is getting squished.
It's full ATX? That seems a mismatch, this would have been better as a matx.
They offer a microATX too
Having the clear CMOS jumper and the power quality LEDs for the graphics card at the back could be a drawback.
Lights stay on if a problem and very bright so you can see them from the front
Do you know which graphics cards have that new power slot?
Asus only made two, a TUF 4070 ti super BTF edition and a ROG 4090 BTF edition.
The have everything on their website www.asus.com/content/btf-hidden-connector-design/
Drivers on CD? What was Asus thinking? 😅
I guess cable Mod will be out of business soon
I wondered who give it a thumbs down
I would of got this but i wanted AM5 so i went MSI project zero.
I'll have to check out some of their stuff
The design philosophy on this is so busy it doesn't even look clean without the cables.
it should have a standardization
I think it will get there
It's ridiculous, most modern computers do not have a CD drive. Why to provide CD disk?
Because its tradition.
Agreed. QR code or USB is the way to go
Can't use that card on anything else...
Drivers should be on a USB stick. Who uses a CD-ROM these days?
Agreed
Just download them and bypass both...
'Back to the future' - wut? That's not right, at all lol.
