    I just purchased the V12 and so far I love it! The system that the Dyson runs on is very high tech and the suction is impressive. Never have I had a vacuum that could make my carpet look like it was professionally cleaned.

    I have the v8. I’ve had it for 5 years. Still going strong. This video did not convince me I need an upgrade. Battery life is fine on normal mode but it’s very bad on max power probably dies in 5 mins.

      @robertusga Před 9 měsíci +5

      Note: you can get an adapter for Dewalt and other batteries from tools you may already have to make the V8 go forever in Max mode if you want. Yes, does add weight but man the range is out of this world.

  • @porschepal7932

    The regular suction mode is actually plenty. I have a plug in upright vacuum and the regular mode on the V8 picks up more from the floor.

  • @blakaeg
    @blakaeg Před rokem +31

    You did a good job, but I’m afraid you didn’t advice some very important points. Firstly a cordless isn’t great for homes with lots of carpet as a plug in will have more suction and do a better job overall. The V8 lasts 40 mins on low power with NO motorized tools. With the main brush head will make the run time 25 minutes. This gets worse as the battery ages! On average I get 21 minutes out of mine. Max mode lasts 8 minutes regardless what tool is attached and Max should only be used sometimes as it heats up the battery and the battery will wear out prematurely (I got through 5 batteries in 6 years). The run time became less and less only lasting 18 minutes or so. The suction on V12 is much lower than V8 regular on Eco but the medium/Auto is comparable to V8 with maybe a little bit more. Max suction on both is excellent but is not designed to be used like that all the time. I too think V12 is a better buy, though V8 is still good. Again homes with more carpets will have better pick up with a full size upright.

      So a vacuum with a cord is better for carpets ?

    • @RhysH212
      @RhysH212 Před 4 měsíci

      @@drawingsbyyuli5070my opinion is that a corded vacuum is only better suited for those customers who like to clean their entire home at once and carpet area has little influence. Cordless vacuums have limited runtime but I’ve managed to clean an entire floor in my house on a single charge without worrying about battery. Dust bin size really isn’t a problem when you can just empty and carry on. I made the move to cordless and don’t regret it a single bit.

    • @luket5042
      @luket5042 Před 18 dny

      Both of these have more power than any corded vacuum I have ever used including very expensive commercial vacuums (15 years ago). The key thing that you missed is that, at least most listings you see now, the V12 will include Both the motorized hair removal vein attachment for carpet AND the velvet for hard floors, where the V8 will only come with one or the other. The reason this is so important is that each attachment is $100. However, I have found that the carpet one works fine on hard floors but I assume could damage some floors. The hard floor attachment on the other hand is not very efficient on carpet at all.

    • @idreamof_jeannie
      @idreamof_jeannie Před 13 dny

      @@luket5042 question… my apartment is mostly hardwood. Only bedrooms (2) have carpet, is it best to go with V8 or spend a couple more hundred for the V12? Thing is, I have long hair that sheds and love the “detangling” feature on the 12, but don’t want to spend $300 more just for that. I’m more concerned with suction on floor and minimal carpet. Would love and appreciate opinions as I’ve never owned a Dyson.☺️☺️

    • @idreamof_jeannie
      @idreamof_jeannie Před 13 dny

      @@luket5042 let me also add that I’ve always gone the cheap route and purchased stick vacuums for less that $200. Suction isn’t great and they end up mint working for whatever reason after a year. I’m tired of replacing vacuums yearly and feel that it’s time to “invest” in quality. Is Dyson the way to go?? Thanks again… 😊

    On the V8, normal mode is more than good enough 99.99% of the time in my experience. I have a corded Shark Rotator that feels like it has superior suction, but the Dyson still somehow picks up as much as or more than the Shark does on carpets, and it does so while in the normal/low setting.

    Just bought V8 $200 off from a labor day sale. This after IRobot H1 decided you can no longer get batteries for it (whut?). V8 runs circles around irobot and my upright vaccum. Love this thing! Especially since I can get hourssss of run time if I want by getting an adapter and hooking up obicutous Dewalt tool (other brands too) batteries.

    I have a 5 years old V6? I don't like the dust bin system. It is not easy to empty and sometimes it spontaneously opens. It is not fun to vacuum again what you just did. The old vacuum no longer has the battery life to clean our new house. Even when I replaced the dead battery with a new and slightly bigger one. I also have an old dyson corded vacuum. I hate that thing. It makes a terrible noise. So now I am emptying the dust bin and charging the V6 in the middle of cleaning the house. Maybe it is obvious that I should get the V15 but it's 799€ versus V12 649€.

    The straight tube models dont last as long as the V8. The V8 has an extra filter in the middle of the vacuum to prevent dust buildup in the HEPA filters, which when that starts to happen, the vacuum is on its last legs. That build up cant occur on the V8. Ive owned several and the V8 os just fine. If you want a clean carpet, get a real vacuum. These stick vacuums are just for small messes.

    • @Markus2801A
      @Markus2801A Před 4 měsíci

      As far as I know: The straight tube models do have a pre HEPA filter. Unfortunately, it is attached directly to the HEPA filter, so pre and HEPA filter are one unit and have to be replaced as one wearing part. This was better on the V8 as you can change the cheaper pre-motor filter more often.

    • @orflanch
      @orflanch Před 3 měsíci

      Can't you just wash them?

    • @Markus2801A
      @Markus2801A Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, you can! But I wouldn't recommend it. As with every fabric, washing them decreases its lifetime.
      As you know, HEPA Filters are also used in Chip Industry and Surgery Rooms. They get replaced by new ones to ensure their full filtration capacity and quality. If you remove, for example, a Hepa 13 filter (which I did) from the ventilation system of a surgery room, the dust side was black! The white side was facing downwards in the room. I will never forget that!
      But I have to investigate if there are any studies on washing filters and it`s impact on filtration quality etc.

    My brother spent $250 on the one with the screwed in battery at Best Buy. Their claimed run time was laughable. As a result, he barely used it and the battery was ruined one year later. It had probably only been through three charge cycles. He’s the kind of person who is hyper-aware of Lithium ion battery best practices too, trying to never charge his iPhone or his Chevy Bolt EV over 80% and trying to never dip below 25% while avoiding cold and heat… never storing at empty or max… never leaving on charge too long… etc. now he’s out the cost of a replacement battery while I’m gloating about how I told him a cordless vac was a bad idea. I still have no idea why these things are so highly rated. Shouldn’t everyone be furious at the low performance, poor durability, and unjustifiable expense?
