    About the artist:
The Bee Gees is a musical group which originally comprised three brothers: Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their decades of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s/early 1970s, and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognisable; Robin's clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. The brothers wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.
Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived their first few years in Chorlton, Manchester, England, then moved in the late 1950s to Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, where they began their musical careers. After achieving their first chart success in Australia with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the United Kingdom in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience. It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' career record sales total more than 220 million, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997; the presenter of the award to "Britain's first family of harmony" was Brian Wilson, historical leader of the Beach Boys, a "family act" also featuring three harmonising brothers. The Bee Gees' Hall of Fame citation says "Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees".
Following Maurice's sudden death in January 2003, Barry and Robin Gibb ended the group after 45 years of activity. In 2009, however, Robin announced that he and Barry had agreed that the Bee Gees would re-form and perform again.

Hi Chris! Thanks for posting the lyrics to this great classic! But you have ONE BIG mistake, and it is the same as one lyrics site. You said "the day you kissed your cheek and you were MINE..." It should be "you were GONE!" That is a BIG difference and changes the entire meaning of the song. This is a song about love that was tragically lost. You have another smaller error. It should be "but guess WHO'LL cry" and not "but guess WE'LL cry." All 3 Bee Gees suffered divorces in their lives, as well as their youngest brother Andy. How do I know the correct words? For one thing, I have the sheet music book, and have played this song on the piano for 52 years, since 1969. For another, ODESSA is one of my 15 favorite albums of All-Time, and my siblings and I have heard this song hundreds of times! Thank you!

Today, I attended a wedding where the bride was my first love. We met in my last year of high school and broke up after 2 years when I was a sophomore. We only started talking again after 7 years of breaking up, when we were going through a tough phase in life. Somehow, we shared and supported each other through our individual hardships. It's been almost 10 years since we last met, and today, on her happiest day, seeing her walk down the aisle. I experienced an overwhelming mix of emotions. I felt happiness for her, but also a tinge of regret and nostalgia for the beautiful youth we once had together. Regardless, thank you for everything, thank you for being there. Thank you for the love, the kisses, the magical moments, and all the wonderful memories. May you find true happiness and serenity, my dear, my unique, and forever cherished love.

This tune is a masterpiece. As composers, arrangers, performers and talent, the Bee Gees are second to none.

This song sums up the feeling of nostalgia for many things, two being first love and childhood days. Such a great song. Many people remember the Bee Gees for Saturday Night Fever, which is classic of course, but many great songs of theirs are from before then and this is a classic example of that. If there was ever a song that says to the listener "Live life to the full, it goes so quickly", this is such a song. The line, "Time has passed us by", is so profoundly true. Time does pass so fast. This song is nearly 51 years old now. RIP, Maurice, Robin and Andy. Stay strong, Barry. Your brothers will always be with you.

This song reminds of being a child in my granny's house at Christmas. An old photo of me standing Infront of her tree, when I was small. But Now I am tall and that house is now a distant memory. RIP granny Peggy, I miss you 😭.

This song just reminds me that life is finite. Things go by, even the singers are gone. What remains as their legacy is the song.
