I feel like I am getting university level art instruction! Yay! Thank you!
I absolutely LOVED this particular episode. Not sure if it's the VIRGO in me or if it's just because it's so darn soothing to see how it's all explained. Using the Triangles and actually seeing how it's applied was so impressive.
I have to say this whole course you created is honestly HANDS DOWN the very best in color theory I have ever watched. I keep going back over the videos to have it really sink in, but after years of not totally getting it, NOW I am.
Deep gratitude and I Thank you Dr. Oto Kano for creating such a brilliant series that allows all of us to expand in our knowledge of color and the theory of putting it all together!🧡✨🧡
I think I could end up liking all triads because changing the value on one or two colors will alter the triad's look completely. This is a fabulous series. Thank you for all the time you’ve spent on us. You are a born professor! 💐
You've laid out this concept so visually and wonderfully. Thank you for this wonderful resource. You've changed how I think when I paint!
This has completely revolutionised my understanding of colour. Thankyou Dr Oto.
Can I just say how much I love that I’m watching an art video where the first 30 seconds features the words “permutation” and “equilateral triangle😸. Also I love your overlays, and egg plate. Such a clever combo!
Aw I am so glad you are enjoying permutations and equilateral triangles :D
Love this video...really helped me, thankyou. I liked the tropical colour schemes x
I don't know how I haven't commented on this before, but I just want you to know that this I still refer back to this series as a refresher, it is SO very useful. Thank you so much Oto, you are such a credit to this community.
This tutorial is invaluable for me. I watched many tutorials on colour theory, but never quite understood how to actually pick the colours, but your explanation and examples finally cleared it out for me. Great thanks to you!
I love the color combo with Triad 4. Thank you for taking the time to step through all of them. I found it EXTREMELY helpful.
You are so welcome Sheri, really glad it's been helpful to you :D
Love the thoroughness of this series of yours!
Permutations respect ordering, combinations do not: there are 4 combinations of 3 colors from 12 in that equilateral-triangle configuration, while there are 24 permutations. There are 220 combinations of 3 colors from 12, disregarding configuration.
I’m loving this series. I know lots of it but I’m still learning lots too! Plus it’s such a pretty series, it gives me that happy rainbow satisfaction!
So glad you are enjoying this series :D Thanks for watching!
I got really excited with the Triad 3 and 4 mixes, lovely limited palettes ♥
Thanks for this great video, Oto! I love how clear everything is and I'll definitely have the visual aids reminders in my brain forever :)
Me, too- exactly what I would have written. Soooo well eine, Oto. I love your strategic and scientific approach, all the while your love for bright and energetic colours shines through. Your gift is magnificent, Oto!
Eve - so glad the visual aids help :D
Lelle - thank you for appreciating my scientific approach :D
Your videos are absolutely amazing! The way you explain everything on all of your videos has completely answered every question or issue I've come across when trying to work with colors. I have watched every video on your channel lol very useful as a reference. Thank you for making these 💜💜
Love the triads, thank you for such thorough explanation. Split complementary and analogous seem the most useful to me. Seeing how you laid them out, I could see myself using even the colors I dislike, like a May Green, it looks great lined up with others.
I feel the same about May Green as you do, it's not my favourite color on its own, but it's a great accent color with other colors.
this is such a useful video! gives me a lot of inspiration for color schemes and playing around with color theory. thank you :)
The Jane Blundell 24 color color wheel can be very useful when you have colors that fall in between the 12 standard colors in a wheel as well. I made my own version of some of my colors and it would be interesting to see a video like this using that!
Love the split complementary triads. Love the series. Thanks so much!
So glad you're enjoying the series Glori, thank you for watching!
Oto! Once again, top notch and super helpful. You are really great at this!
So glad you find it helpful Lynn :D Thanks for watching!
Great visuals!!!
Again, great tutorial with visuals that actually work. Thanks for all your hard work.😘
Glad you liked the visuals Christina :D
i love it! I'm learning so much!
Thank you Oto, Happy Valentine's day to you. 👍😁💙
Happy Valentine's to you too!
Exciting to watch
Thank you very much, wonderful explanation with vision
Excellent video Oto, very informative!
Thank you so much Angie!
Thank you for making this.
Thank you so much for the help!
Okay. Wow. This is really inspiring.
I loved the combinations that the Triad 4 triangle made.
Great choice Robin, it's a really nice color combination.
👍 great tutorial!
Thank you this is incredibly useful. I want to do that with my paint now ^^
Really glad you find this useful Sophie, thanks for watching!
Thanks, very very good information.
Thank you Julio!
thx you u did very good job
Color nerd satisfaction!!! ❤️
And how many more combos with unequal triangles??? (I know this had to have crossed your mind!😁)
Love love love ,🎨👩🎨❣️
Ultramarine Finest, Phthalo Turquoise and Quin Violet (B)-(D)-F at 10:53 looks so beautiful together. I really love that water cauliflower bloom on the bottom right, the contrast is gorgeous :)
So glad you are a cauliflower fan too Kimberly :D
I don't know how this video popped up. Maybe CZcams is now mind reading. What a great video. Definitely subscribed!♡
Really glad the video popped up for you Preciosa, thank you for subscribing!
Surprisingly hard to locate the ultramarine violet in the recommended brands
This video is truly timeless and I am so grateful for it. My question is in relation to "cool Yellow". In your previous video you added it outside of the colour wheel so does that mean it is no longer needed, when mixing colours? @Dr.OtoKano
I was wondering if a triangle with 3 different length sides would work for this also?
For me this is your most useful video so far. I can see so many paintings in my mind. It's cleared many of the "how do they do that" moments, when looking at a painting. Brilliant.
Really glad seeing those color combinations have inspired you!
Which triangle triad would diox violet, ultramarine blue, and burnt sienna be? I'm doing a painting of a white cow with these colors.
Hi Ms Kano do you have a video that lists the magenta/cyan wheel colors; or is there somewhere on Google I can get the names; thank you
Triad 4 was my favorite.
So, do we get tested on this, or...?
(E)-D-F is gorgeous!
Great choice Julie!
That strangely reminds me of the circle of fifth in music theory...
It is unnecessary to borrow terms from music: Triad simply means a group of three things. The best teacher for combining color is your eye, not some pseudo-system which at best demonstrates there are 52 different ways to create muddy shadows.
