    I just found 15 corms in my alocasia when I repotted it. I have them in some perlite to propagate.

    Wow, that cup idea is so simple yet so genius!!! I normally do the same thing (only with one cup), but having the two cups taped together gives a lot more room for it to grow before removing it. Thanks! Haha

      Instead of using a 2nd cup I put my cup into a ziplock bag! I find this much easier as there is no hassle of possibly damaging the plant while fiddling around with a tape as the plant in this stage is quite sensitive and can just open and close it with one move to allow some air flow every few days. All of mine have spouted so far!
      The cups I have are quite narrow and I make sure to get big ziplock bags to upgrade it once the first few leaves have developed.

    My corms are pointy on both ends! Do I plant the side that was attached to the mother plant up or down?

    • @sugoiharris1348
      @sugoiharris1348 Před 9 měsíci +3

      You plant that side down. That part that was attached to a root of the mother plant will grow roots.

      You can also plant them directly into soil, following the same steps. Perlite works too.

    How do you not get mold??

    • @gennasplants
      @gennasplants  Před rokem

      I find using a high-quality sphagnum moss it doesn't mold very easily. If I used a different medium it probably would, but the mold you see on your substrate is generally not harmful
