offcourse, and this is terrible... 😥
Spent a couple years on CV-43 USS Coral Sea, based out of FPO Alameda back in the 70's. Talk was already beaming about UAV's back then, but the tech didn't exist back then for comms. I'm a tech savvy and fan, but now at my age this technology could be better served in more humanitarian ways than militarily. Imagin remote rotorcraft that could be sent out on SAR missions as well as recovery of stranded hikers or water swept campers without incorporating a pilot and or co-pilot. The possibilities are endless as well as the FAA to find itself in in a nut squeeze when it has found that it has to push all all GA aviation PPL pilots aircraft as well as all the new 103 Ultralight and SPL holders to well above the 1500 feet AGL because they will soon find the need for another entirely new airspace for the UAV crowd weather that be the sport enthusiast or the commercial pizza delivery boy flying his route delivering pizzas or even UPS and DHL making house calls. Look how far UPS has come getting ready to deliver packages from a moving truck, it is amazing.
There were unmanned drones already in the WW2.
we're a couple of steps ahead of ya :) been doing that since 2016 personally working with CASAR NVSAR and AZSAR
I can only imagine the amount of hours invested in creating such piece of technology. My hats off to all the geniuses behind the development of this vehicle. Well done!

All funded with our taxes just to be overpriced and sold to the military.
It's a propaganda video
Drones could easily become a part of supply chain for product delivery, search & rescue missions, emergency/ relief operations, etc, especially during natural disasters such as floods/earthquakes , air spray disinfectants, airborne irrigation system, seed sowing besides, terrain mapping, battlefield assessment, recon and various kinds of combat missions!
They already are.

You may would want to know that the US Navy does not refer to the X 47B as a drone. It is an unmanned aircraft that operates autonomously. No one controls it like a normal drone. Takes off from aircraft carrier completed mission and returns and lands without any human interaction necessary.
Let’s say, there no real time control, but it must be assigned a mission and many parameters, to perform its missions. I doubt these are already able to decide by themselves what they have to do (I hope I’m wrong 😅)

Well done!!!
Those are all amazing machines.
To clarify, the X-47B was entered into service in April 2019 😎
The X-47B was a demonstrator only and it was cancelled in 2015. It never entered active service. I think you're confusing it with Boeing's MQ-25 Stingray, which had its first flight in April 2019. It will eventually enter service, but it's still in development.
Any documents supporting your claims?
@dben65 Sorry, you wright.

They already do in Japan
I have so much love for the USA military
Friendly reminder that the US militaryis Controlled by zionists
Also they could be used for inflight refueling, which is very important, for Carrier to have its own refueling capability
The MQ-25 is the drone tanker.
They already have one in development and has had several successful refueling missions. 1 drone tanker can refuel up to 5 or 6 fighter jets within a 4-600 mile area. Imagine the possibilities drones can do for logistics. Within the next 20 years I believe most if not all refueling and resupplying will be done with drones. No more giant slow moving aircraft tankers that are very vulnerable to enemy jet fighters to take on the risk. They can just have 6-8 tanker drones stay within 2-400 miles of the battle zone and our fighters taxi to them and get right back in the fight
The drone choppers could be big for fleet protections. Add them to the carrier group staging off carriers/destroyers/cruisers or even a new class designed to launch these and keep a fleet of them in the air at all times hunting subs or providing forward missile defense.
Staying up in the air for 8 hours is really nice as well.
@gae they don’t cost a billion dollars the cost of a billion dollars was to get to that specific drone or do you think they did this one time and it magically worked🤣
Imagine a world where stations charge up waiting autonomous air, ground and sea transport for everything we needed. People there to manage/keep an eye on everything. @3:28 crewman was stoked for that take off haha!
A billion dollars for one drone when people are starving still homeless infrastructure is shit but a drone is what we need at this time.
I’ve always said this drones features could be made as a manned air-speed fighter that maneuvers beyond any fighter jets out there, with smaller weaponry drone capable within its belly controlled by via pilot gps or ships plus the size with fold up wings would allow almost triple the amount to fit inside ship’s hull...you could also reduce size of ammunition but with more power in each ammunition.
Since you had the idea it's a real shame that you didn't act on it and invent it, you'd be rich right now. Instead it seems like you're just a Johnny come lately. Sad
Turkey is doing that with smaller smart ammunition
Watching this video, I’m happy to be an American.
X-47B is basically a platform to test out some of the toys that will be on the B-21 Raider. Cant wait to see that machine.
It looks like one American drone Iranians were able to “capture” in air few years ago. And we spent one billion on it !
Different drones. Only similar. This X-47B is the super expensive one. Takes off and lands on a carrier by itself, air refuels by itself. The Iranian captured one is the RQ- 170. It's a more basic remotely operated spy drone type operating from a landbase airfield. Much smaller than the Navy drone.
The drone itself is some metal, some plastic, some glass - all pretty cheap. The cost reflects the skills, precision, educations and capabilities to arrange those materials into a complex item. Loss of the item might present some damage due to a reverse-engineering opportunity for the enemy, but really, all the loss is metal, glass and plastic. Armament production is a jobs program for engineers and scientists. So is space exploration. But we produced all of them and have to keep them busy somehow.
There's a reason the military gets $700+ billion a year in reported funding. You don't become the most technically advanced military in history without spending some serious money.
its not going to be remote control warfare, it's going to be autonomous smart AI warfare...Skynet LOL

Magnificent technology drones. 👏
It's fantastic to keep pilots out of harm's way. I think there will ALWAYS be a need of sharply trained fighter pilots at the ready to fly combat aircraft though. UAV's are effective but are remotely controlled. Any UAV isn't 100% resistant from enemy control interference.

The MQ8c appears to a conversion of a Bell Jet Ranger into an autonomous platform.
I'm surprised there was not a single mention of Boeing's MQ-25 Stingray, which is in development currently and will eventually provide air-to-air refueling capability from aircraft carriers. Terminators have arrived! Awesome video! :)
Why don't they go outside the military industrial complex to build one of these? A super fancy drone doesn't need to cost 1 billion, that's ridiculous. Kind of like the cost of a trip to space from Space X versus SLS. The built in fleecing that goes on with traditional defense contractors is why it costs 1 billion.
It's called corruption. If it's for the military the price is always multiple, multiple times of what it could cost ...
@@laaaliiiluuu Exactly. The GOP story is that we need a strong military. I think most can agree on this. Then the story proceeds to we are lagging further and further behind China and Russia. However, when you look at the numbers, we spend $200 billion per year on defense, which is multiple times more than the other two combined. So either it's a lie that we are lagging, or we are getting way less for our money than they are, per the example of this billion dollar drone. It's probably both.
@@michaelmiller6878 The US isn't lagging behind.
WTF are you even talking about?
@ What am I talking about? Are you living in a cave? lol You must not read or listen to the news? Listen to any republic politician or conservative journalist, the story most often revolves around how the US is lagging behind China and Russia when it comes to newer and better jets, bigger air-craft carriers, more hypersonic missiles, etc etc etc. This of course leads to the conversation what we need to increase defense spending or we'll be inadequately behind in the arms race.
Definitely agree a drone shouldn't cost 1 billion.
Ya ever think that the size of the vehicle yet such a small kg of warheads it can carry is a deliberate tactic by the manufacturers to encourage governments to purchase more...? The 1944 USNF Corsair could carry more ordinance.
First off, the F4U corsair could only carry about 4klbs of ordinance. This can carry 4.5klbs and it does so all internally with the cross section on radar about the size of a small bird maybe less. The F-18 could take off with the F4U strapped to it with enough left over to carry its ordinance.
All aircraft should have fully automated takeoff, landing, and aerial refuelling.
What's amazing is the craft has crazy cool A.I. that balances the combat, as to destroy enough of the enemy to hold them back but not enough to end the conflict, as sustaining the war generates the income the military industrial complex needs to finance this thing, but good news is it pays for itself in 16 to 24 years! so fantastic!
3:30 homeboy was geekin lol
Thrilled to see the first concept proof of 6th gen unmanned
a 6th gen which refers to fighter jets, this is a drone thats a bomber. we are still a waays off
Im confident that a single drone runs slightly under the 1 Billion dollar headline.
It will include the research and development of it and not just the COGs of manufacturing.
I don't understand why this video included the Northrop Grumman's X-47B since that drone was cancelled and retired in favor of the Boeing's Manta ray tanker drone. Also I don't understand why the Navy made such a stupid decision given that the X-47B was a broadband stealthy recon and strike platform in favor of a much less advanced Manta Ray which is only a tanker with some mild stealthy characteristics. I guess that the new 6th gen platform that is being developed by the Navy, known as the F-XX will control drones in a loyal wing man configuration that will be much more advanced than the Manta ray..
The fight between X-47 and the MQ-25 was never really settled I thought. They squabbled over the two devices constantly but never really backed one I thought
However the Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel for the CIA by USAF was impressive too
I think you already said it. The navys next gen fighter is also having a drone made to go with it. Most likely want a more stealthy and better fighter drone. If anything the X-47B was a technology demonstrator.
Also I suspect that Boeings Manta Ray is cheaper so they can have more of them to go with their missions.
Well not really. The X-47B was a part of the Navy's UCLASS program whose goal was a stealthy strike drone capable of penetrating the most advanced air defense zones and take out high value targets. Unfortunately the whole UCLASS program was scrapped in favor of much less ambitious tanker drone program whose result was the Manta Ray. US Navy's fly boys were scared to see the USVs replacing them so they postponed the inevitable.. This decision also resulted in a missed decade in which the Chinese have developed their own flying wing type combat UAV, therefore overtaking the US Navy in that department. Let's hope the new F-XX program will rectify this and put us on the bleeding edge of naval aircradt/UAV technology.
Because there's a lot u don't know
This kind of video provided very good useful information to Chinese and Russia military, that’s for sure.
