I'm German. And as such, I find it sad that the German language alone is associated with a criminal regime. The truth is that the German language is almost unique in its depth, precision and emotionality. It is not for nothing that it was German romantics, writers and philosophers who shaped world history for centuries. In this song and these lyrics you can see another example of this...

We can thank his daughter (nine years old when her mother passed) that he came back to the stage and still makes big concerts (today he is 67 years old and his breakthrough-album has its 40th anniversary this year). Only a few days after his wife passed his daughter said to him: "Daddy, you won't stop singing. Promise me." And this concert was about four years after the passings of his brother and wife.
Watch other videos from this concert (this video was part of a concert DVD which is fully published on youtube). This was one of the few moments of grief. The whole lot of the other songs he celebrated the biggest party he ever had on stage. 60.000 people in the arena rolled over him with love. Sometimes you can see him cry happy tears.

He even wrote the songs for this album to process the death of those two. I think, that's where the deepness comes from. Besides, his songs from before or after that time are also very good.

Great lyrics. German doesn't sound nice, but honest and authentic. Grönemeyer has always hit me in the hear: "Life isn't fair", he sings, it's raw and brings out the innermost. So does the German language. I love the fact that feelings don't need language. Being human has nothing to do with geographical location, but rather with the location of the heart. My greetings go out into the world. It's great that music brings us together in this way.

Someone with perfect pitch and 3 octaves ranges but sounds terrible because his songs aren't good, or someone with an unique voice, singing so heartwarming that almost all cried once hearing this song? He doesn't have a wide range, but still is considered one of the best Artists in Germany. With many number 1 hits. Maybe he is loved so much because he sounds normal and not pitch corrected.

It is so touching how much you got captivated by the song. I guess, the lyrics have been translated automatically? Some of the translations were literally wrong, and others did not get the correct meaning from a variety of possible translations. I am still happy that you could understand and feel them on a different level. Music in fact, *is* a universal language. If you are not touched by this song you have a heart made of stone. I don't know, if you already have reacted to "Mensch" by him, it is pretty emotional, too, and so lyrical. I also recommend "Wir werden uns wiedersehen" and "Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit"by "Selig". But I could not find any version with lyrics or lyrics, that were correctly translated. In fact, there are so many real good German songs and musicians. But they are usually hard to (automatically) translate since there are a lot of word plays that can't be translated.
