This is a China CRT TV kit, LA 78040, 2003 sound IC etc. A genuine branded CRT TV always have the TV button's, power switch remote sensor and indicating LED's on the main board but not in a separate board ( usually the front side of the board ).
Screen pot is too low, that is the reason the bad picture at the end, you didn' t calibrated it, screen pot first , then focus , (with bright, color, and contrast in the middle), adj. Screen until barely see the raster bright (do it in AV INPUT SELECTED with no input), after screen , change to any channel with no transmission, and adjust the focus (you must adjust focus seeing the center of the screen).
Everything wrong with this video: 0:01 Great, we start off like usual, a regular chad taking a walk in the middle of nowhere 0:39 Alright I just noticed he's wearing sandals while walking through there, awesome 0:51 CRT is necked, so I would instantly walk away, plus the case is too far gone 1:25 Yeah go ahead and keep snapping the plastic 😂 1:42 See that dark spot on the screen? that means the CRT went to air and is toast 1:54 I'm surprised that screw is still holding it together 2:11 Mmm, crusty... 2:41 Not discharging the tube? But hey, it's an old set that was probably abandoned for years 2:50 Just unplug everything without taking note of where each wire goes 3:31 I hope you replace that speaker. The foam is broken 3:40 There always has to be some annoying background noise, doesn't it? 4:02 Jezz this high speed video is making me feel dizzy 4:43 That's disgusting 4:52 Gloves? Nah, just grab that shit with your bare hands 5:25 Jesus, I really hove you put on some gl... 5:38 Tape holding it together. Classic. Oh and some random screws too! 5:59 Goodbye original paint 6:46 Didn't even clean the floor before starting 6:59 Why don't you use a brush? Water itself won't do a good job 7:18 Looks like he already got a new tube, no mention of it though 7:19 Also, it's not advisable to rinse it with water just like that 7:50 Another sign that this TV was too broken to repair 7:58 Why clean it? It's unsalvageable 8:03 Good luck getting all that powder soap off the board 8:11 *Bends the cover when removing it 8:19 Again with cleaning parts that should be thrown away 8:28 That ought to be good for the conductive paint 8:38 It still looks like you took it out of a dumpster, sorry :( 8:43 Unnecessary product unboxing 9:36 And another unboxing 9:54 Is that a screw hole? Superglue ain't gonna cut it 10:05 Nice refilling, though you didn't clean off the excess 10:18 At this rate you're going to need a lot more super glue 10:56 This restoration is just too comical 11:36 That's way too much super glue 11:53 Good, sand it. We are looking for premium results here 12:07 Something tells me you won't fill those two holes 12:29 Nice way of supporting the piece 12:31 *Gets showered in overspray 12:44 Now comes the Ridiculous Repairs section! 13:22 I still can't believe he's doing this 14:02 Look at all that discoloration. This set was probably on its last legs 14:26 The tip on that soldering iron. It's just too much 🤣 15:04 I guess the previous super glue stick already ran out. Didn't buy a new one though 15:13 The ground wire on the multimeter is connected to the wrong port. Apparently it works anyway. 15:36 Replace that fuse 15:48 NOOOOO!!! 16:00 That cap is not happy 16:33 Switching transistor not looking too happy either. Something catastrophical happened to this poor TV. 16:40 So he didn't replace the fuse, yet bought a new transitor. Budget doesn't seem to be a problem here... 17:08 New cap too? Ok 17:53 That's another transistor, and what's the best way to test it? Of course! With the continuity check! 😂 18:10 Blown too 18:14 I hope that's thermal paste and not just white paint 18:50 No clue as to what he's testing, like always 19:06 There's still some junk on those buttons, but whatever 19:32 Is that new speaker? Looks like it 20:07 Sweet, merciful Jesus. I thought you painted it silver. 20:33 Throw this thing in the garbage, end its suffering 20:54 Is he really going to replace that coil? Damm 21:21 At this point he spent more money on parts than what the TV is actually worth. 22:06 That wire is still unplugged 22:10 You can see that premium paint job up close 22:23 The end result looks terrible. Should've just cleaned it and left it as is 22:39 What's up with those two holes on top of the rca sockets? Did you poke your soldering iron through? 22:59 The colors look way too saturated, and the image is too dark. This picture tube is junk 23:12 The alignment is off too. Wow If you got this far reading, congratulations! Hope you liked my detailed analysis.
honestly there is no need to write down connections of a CRT, this are simple consumer tvs and have very little connectors and most models are basically the same
I see quite a few people screaming fake because the CRT tube is different after like 7:18, but why does that mean they're faking it? If you'd wanna restore a TV and you'd see the tube was broken, surely it'd be okay to swap the tube right? They never claimed to repair the original tube, they only restored the tv. Wanting them to keep the old tube is like saying you need to perform a lung transplant on someone whose lungs have completely failed, but you DO need his original lungs to stay in there...
When someones car window breaks in an accident I demand and expect them to take all the pieces of glass, melt them back down into a molten form, and perfectly reshape it using only those authentic, original pieces. Otherwise it isn't repaired, obviously. Totally fake and insane how all these auto-body shops get away with 'repairs' and 'restorations' when they're just using other non-original parts. How shameful. (I hope the sarcasm was heavy enough)
I’ve had a shock off these before. It ain’t good I can tell you. It literally made my arm throw the screwdriver. After my arm felt like I had done weight lifting for ten minutes
This device is not a Sony TV. People laughed. This is a Chinese public TV collection. Manufacture 2010 and over. And the screen is broken. These tricks pass to the average person, but the technician does not
Funny how the "sony trinitron" doesnt have a trinitron tube, and the CRT changes magically from being necked to a seemingly brand new crt halfway through the video with no context. TV is way to new to be from 1990. Also the thumbnail is just a joke, a circle with an arrow pointing to the anode wire... wha what for what purpose is that for. Tripple thumbs down.
Recycled crt tube use(more on monitor crt tubes used) . Universal tv board made in china. Good for 3 months lucky use in 5 years. But absolutely repairable but not durably longterm use after repair. Always having defect in just a month..

Bypassing the fuse is an incredibly dangerous thing to do. What BS is this? I love how the CRT changed halfway through the video.
IKR videos like this make me cringe.
i think he got a new tube.
No, he literally bypasses it in the video with some solder at 15:49. Please don't do this!

Very nice restoration.thank you!
Great work
Has anyone also noticed that he showed a different CRT at 7:18? The one in the beginning was broken and now its perfect all of a sudden :\
U fool that tv body was fully broken so changed it

oh yes, I sure saw that first thing, he even had to pick out the broken pieces from the broken neck of the crt from the socket
