- What chemicals and equipment do I need?
- What's the story with a cage over the pool . . or a fence around the pool?
- Safety codes
- Let the builder put in my pool . . .or should I put it in myself later?

Do You Really Want a Pool in Florida?!
Having a pool put in now at our home in Naples. Can’t wait!! Spa too!!!!
Great discussion.
Thanks, Ann, for your feedback and for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
I live on the Collier/Lee county line. South of my house has a Naples FL mailing address. I have a salt water pool. An electric cell makes the chlorine. The computerized controls adjust the chlorine levels constantly. The water is not as salty as your tears. Maintenance requires a 40 pound bag of salt every few months. I can have the water tested for free across the street at a pool service company Most weeks, the test indicates 2 cups or so of muratic acid must be added. That's it
Having a pool service is about $70 per month. The do basic pool side testing, brush the perimeter and add acid or salt. Once a month they clean the filter.
A new salt cell is about $250, a new pump motor is $5-600, a new control is $800, or so. A new heater is maybe $3000. All of this equipment will wear out in a few years. You must budget for maintenance, equipment replacement, and electricity to run the pump and heater. The cost of the pool is just the beginning.
