@@grokeffer6226Peggy actually went on a cooking binge to try to fix Al before. But she figured out that the work to reward ratio was a void of diminishing returns. So had a similar opportunity when Peggy had a dancing partner flirtation who had a "house husband" that spoiled Al with fancy meals until they got back together.

I got into this show later on in the 90s. Never really watched it in the 80s, but man I loved it once I started watching. Just too funny.

Man, I love all of Married With Children, but these earlier episodes were so heartwarming.
They were. I think it was by season 4 when they started getting a bit more crazy and the audience was going crazy at almost every joke.
Once Steve left and Jefferson came in, it became more wacky.
Fun fact: In German the show was called A Terribly Nice Family. But everyone just called it „Al Bundy“

Agreed, steve brought more balanced to this show while Jefferson was too much like Al.
That was intentional. They wanted him to be a shallow good looker to expose Marcy's shallowness.

Steve was a good character for the show. But I think the writers ran out of ideas for him by season 4. Jefferson became Al's Ed Norton in terms of going along with his hairbrained schemes and having fun at Marcy's expense.

Appropriately, the episode's title was "The Razor's Edge." You knew Steve and Marcy's marriage was in real trouble after watching this episode.
Gee, how nice of Steve to invite himself to stay with the Bundys WITHOUT asking for their permission to stay in THEIR home.
Why Al and Peggy didn't kick his butt out afterwards I'll never know. Especially since up to this point he's looked down his nose at them.
Having said that, Al and the kids did at least have a good and willing housekeeper for awhile.
I wish Steve would of stayed in the show,it went down more and more when Jefferson came in.

I theorize that there might be a few individuals in real life who might be just like (AL BUNDY) & individuals who might be just like (PEGGY BUNDY).
I myself only like 8% of the character (AL BUNDY) he is funny, and he has a tiny amount of good qualities.
But when it comes to the actor himself (ED O’NEILL) I like him 100%; He is great at playing his characters’s roles, be it in shows, and be it in movies.
