Hi George, Thank you for your Comment.
The man is Awesome. The first time i saw him i did not no many of the songs he does, But i could hear every word he was singing. And his playing is unreal with his Thumb & Index finger. I have a lot of his Videos on here of him.

The Roy Rogers he's referring to was born in 1950, he is alive and well and performing with his band the the Rhythm Kings. He is from Northern Calif. and is an outstanding slide guitar player as well as producer. I think he's a little young to have been Freddie King's mentor, but you never know.

Really nice version, Hans. Was this the Roy Rogers who Freddie King referred to often as his mentor?

Hi Barry, Not sure of the year of the Guitar, I will ask him next time i see him.
The story with the Guitar was he was in a Biker Bar and someone came up to him and asked if he wanted to buy a Hard Shell Guitar Case for $75.00 Hans looked at the case and new it was worth more then that and gave him the money. He later opened the case up to find a Grammer Guitar in it and that they are kinda rare and been playing all his Slide Guitar on that one only.

I understand you was doing it in Roys slide guitar style...BUT having said that it just DOESNT work for this paticular song..the Whole Celtic soundng vibe is lost with the slide and sounds so UNLIKE FACTORY GIRL . ABSOLUTELY YOUR TALENTED It was great playing.. just sounds so far removed from original its practically unrecognizable. The Signature sound of Factory Girl is the highlighted picking of each string G-B-E individually ..pick G then hammer on /strum then B hammer on/strum And then high E hammer on and strum in the D chord..if you had another guitar to accompany you playing it tradiotionllyl then you could do your slide Roy Style and still keep the Integrity of the song.. DONT give up keep practicing you will get better 😇

Matooley O'Brien dude...this guy is a fantastic slide guitar player. That is blindingly obvious from this clip alone, so your “keep practicing!” comment is offensive, but more than that it is comically absurd. Second point...if every cover sounded exactly like the original, what would be the point of doing covers at all? This particular rendition is the best type of cover that exists-it stays true to the spirit of the song and the lyrics, while adding something new and awesome at the same time.

The Man knows how the song is played But try's to put his Spin so to speak on it Matooley,
He did Not do it to get you Upset. He has his OWN STYLE of playing and it works for him. He has been playing for 53 years or more here in Arizona & California. Thank you for your Comments.
