Fix Sinking Back D

  • Uilleann pipe chanter reeds can develop a "sinking" or unsteady back D (thumb note) if scraped too thin. When pressure increases, the thumb note goes flat instead of remaining steady. One cure is to take the reed apart, and reinforce the cane by applying some superglue to the inside surface above the staple. This method should help with a double-reed for any instrument, possibly also single reeds like clarinet or sax reeds, that have symptoms of being scraped too thin.

    it would be helpful a 2nd part showing how to add glue without disassembling the reed too
