- Have you been thinking about becoming a barber? I created this video to shed some light in the industry about some pros and cons you will face when pursuing a career in barbering.

I’m currently 25 years old man I remember I wanted to become a barber straight after high school I live in California by the way. Unfortunately I ended pushing the idea away but I been stuck working the same boring job my whole life I’m ready for a change & I’m ready to give barbering another shot. I plan on going to barber school in 2022 thanks for the advice bro really gives me the confidence to chase my dreams.

17 year old here barbering is the only career i look up to doing , i love it mane. I learned myself at first cutting my own hair the past 3 years, doné fucked myself up the first times but now i can give myself a clean cut and people ask "who cut u up" , i love that. Always been good at fading and cutting my own hair . I get a lot of compliments and I am happy to say I did it . I’m not amazing obviously, but I genuinely believe I would love to be a barber . Starting my journey with this CZcams channel !!

I wouldn’t say that I always wanted to be a barber but when I was young around the age of 16 or 17 i used to watch haircut tutorials . It made me happy seeing people getting a haircut, i always tell myself wow I wish I could do that but I’m an insecure person so I never looked at it as a career for me. Off the bat I doubt myself thinking I’m not up for it. I am now 25 years old and currently unemployed. Brother the time is now I think I’m going to dip my toes into the water. 🙏

I wanted to be a barber right after high school but I pushed the idea back. Ended up becoming a welder and I have no regrets. However I do cut hair on the side😅

My tip to you is to be authentic! Be yourself and don't feel the need to compare to other great barbers and fashion icons. You have a natural instinct for it. Ask yourself "why" you like it so much, why are you good at it? What makes you unique and output that in your work!

Got a job since February of this year and raised my prices slowly learning, growing and accepting the fact i am still not there yet. long hair, Asian hair, curly hair and afro hair, id like to master it all. Being able to do any texture and giving an opportunity to make anyone from any place sit in our chair comfortably and feel welcomed walking out looking fresh. I just enjoy cutting hair and i cut my sons and my own, occasionally my nephew from the army or bros but always free im 38 so when I retire I might become a barber.

Advice for females wanting to be barbers? I’m an esthetician who realized after I got licensed that I want to do hair, but not the cosmetology route since it has a huge focus on coloring. Mens haircuts interest me bc of the amount of detail that comes with it.
I'm a beginner so i can't say much tips but i say the same process should work for a female too. Reps, learning to do as many different fades and hairstyles from youtube tutorials, learn the equipment you'd need as far as clippers, clipper guards, trimmers, shears, shavers, razors, neck strips, cape, neck dusters and learning sanitation. Then you get your barber license and be a beast in the barbershop 😤
I have had a few successful female barbers at my shop. At the end of the day were all cutting hair! If I were you, id start giving free haircuts to practice and show the men in your network that you are committed to barbering. My advice for females wanting to barber is the same as males wanting to barber. Dont let anything hold you back from achieving your highly attainable goals, you got this!
@@ginodominicI’m a straight feminine looking female cosmetologist & instructor turned barber. It was absolutely the last thing I thought about becoming for my career & I absolutely love it! I’m the Queen of the barbershop & only female and I’m the only one who can do everything from color, cuts for ALL, roller sets, perms, relaxers, dreads, braids, hairstyling, etc. I’m a one stop shop if you know what I mean. I took it a step further and got my MFA in Wig & Makeup Design to become a certified artist. I use all my skill sets and talents daily while providing grooming services and I’m a Beast! We need more females like me in the game!
I don’t have a license but been cutting hair for 13 years ! I work full time too so not sure if it would be possible to do barbering ! I’d have to own the barbershop to make it worth it I think
Owning a barbershop comes with much more work than you think. Mess around with haircuts to see if you like it. Low risk for a potentially high reward in the future.

I have always wanted to be a barber weather the pros or cons wanted to get into it in my early 20's but always made time to cut here and there with family and friends and did a few gigs in shops, is it too late to be a barber now that im in my early 40's?
Not at all, there’s no age restriction for this lifestyle, I’ve had 60+ year old barbers who are so nice with. Never too late, don’t regret passing up this career. 💪🏽
Never too late! If it's fits into your lifestyle and you are willing to make sacrifices I personally would do that versus regretting never trying! Good luck to you!

Gino, well done on this video. You are wise before your years. I have been a barber for 55 years, you have hit the nail on the head. The haircut is only half of what people want, Always remember that the other person (the customer) is 10,000 times more interested in their wife, dog, car, etc than yours, if you go with that... you will be succsessfull.

It depends on the situation you're in, some people work from home and others work for a barbershop. Being self employed comes with risks and challenges but also reward! The best part is that you can customize it if you are willing to sacrifice and put the time in. It is not at all an over night success career, I find it takes at least 2 years to build a solid clientele on average

How has your course been going? My advice for female barbers is no different than a male barber. Nothing will replace hard work, patience and passion. I have had amazing female barbers in my shop who are absolute BEASTS with the clippers. Would you like me to make a video on this topic?

do you need to have a good memory to be a barber? i have ahard time memorizing steps more than 5 steps . i got a mild learning disability. i can learn adobe software but step by step kind thing sometimes skips a step since i forgot it
honestly once you keep cutting over and over again it becomes natural to you and it will get much easier over time.

@@calvinraldajo8565 this is a personal challenge that you may have to adjust what works for you. Maybe try having steps on your phone or paper an follow along as you cut hair. Hopefully as time goes on you wony have to think as much because it will come more naturally. There is a lot to learn but eventually you will feel confident just enjoying the process!

Is it a good idea for a woman to cut hair only for men? Would men feel comfortable and relax going into a female barber shop?

Don’t understand why I’m top of the $30 i pay for a haircut I’m expected to tip. Barbers should just charge what they want and call it a day. Tipping is confusing and leads to resentment.
Tipping is never mandatory, but always appreciated in my opinion. On both ends, client or barber, the opinion on tips is very much personal.

Never quit. If you are passionate about what you are doing and you truly want to become a barber, then do it. Don't get discouraged by this, if you practice enought and work hard you will make it. I know you can and I believe in you. Do it so you can prove everyone that you CAN become the barber you wanted to be. If you just tried barbering for fun and you're not that passionate about it then it's a different story.

Be a sponge! Try to learn and practice as much as you can, but above all just enjoy the process and try not to overthink!

I’m 24 currently construction worker but sick of it the environment fighting for a pay raise is the worst body aches I cut my nephews hair occasionally n it comes out alright for having the worst clippers ever but I love hair I got good hair love the smells making people look good the environment just wanna be able to afford school n what not
