I think you're missing the point with Sanremo: is not a Eurovision selection. It's a festival in his own right, actually more important for Italians than Eurovision. I'd say that Mahmood wasn't trying to enter ESC, he was just presenting the single.

The Sanremo festival was the Italian song festival (that's why everyone sings in Italian) and not the selection for Eurovision. According to the rules, only Italian language is allowed during the singing competition and the use of any other languages is prohibited, except for a small part of a song. Pensa che l’antenato del festival di Sanremo era il Festival della canzone partenopea (si parla degli anni ‘30), che poi divenne Festival della Canzone Italiana e da quando si stabilì a Sanremo (anni ‘50) prese il nome di Festival dei Sanremo, dal quale presero l’ispirazione per fondare l’Eurovision SC. Angelina Mango: daughter of pino mango (died tragically on stage by a stroke) . She's 22 yo. Her mom was also a great vocalist in a group called matia bazar.
She's incredible, don't watch the song "la rondine" dedicated to her father if you don't want to feel like in heaven but deeply sad. She performed this song by her father during a night in Sanremo as a cover.

Il bello di questa canzone e' proprio il contrasto fra il testo che tratta argomenti profondi in un modo ironico, e la musica che lo accompagna che non solo ti spinge a ballare insieme alla protagonista ma ti lascia concentrato sul suo ritmo che, proprio perche' continua a variare, continua a stupirti piacevolmente con il cambio di strumenti, fino a raggiungere la sorpresa piu' bella e inaspettata: di colpo gli strumenti si interrompono e la musica continua con la voce della cantante; ogni parola e' sentita e interpretata col cuore, non riesce a lasciarti indifferente e una delle cose che amiamo in questa musica e' riprendere anche le nostre radici melodiche popolari italiane, che non sono quelle classiche che siamo abituati a sentire a Sanremo, ma sono quelle delle varie regioni che compongono la nostra nazione e, soprattutto nel Sud Italia, sono piene di ritmo e calore ma purtroppo sono poco conosciute.
Angelina's parents are both singers. Unfortunately, her dad passed away; he was Pino Mango. She sang one of his songs, "La Rondine," during the cover evening at Sanremo. She took part in a talent show last year where many people complained, saying that she was there only because she has famous parents. I've never agreed with that, as she's clearly talented. I would say she does pop, and her other songs are similar to the winning one. I'm happy she won. Vocally she can do much more of what she shows in her songs.
Italy brings so many differnt styles every year.. Mahmood was great with Soldi wich expressed a Urban style, then we brought Maneskin with high quality rock.. we ha of course also ballads that are very popular in Italy ! This year Angelina is singing a Cumbia Wich is a latin African rithm, very popolar in Italy as well!! I think that no other countries performermed so many different styles on ESC stage!! ..and all were high quality, and top vocalists as well!!

I appreciated the fact that you also noticed that this song by Angelina has the right characteristics to be appreciated on an international level too, but I also think that for Eurofestival in May she should do something little more than her performance in Sanremo. Yes, we're generally happy she's going to represent Italy at Eurovision. It would have eventually gone a different direction, the top 5 songs at Sanremo are not ballads (only the 5th one), so even if she didn't win you'd get something different than usual. Personally, I am very happy she won.

Italian singers that partecipate at sanremo are focused to win that festival, its not in their interest to create a song that can win eurovision like other countries do, for them sanremo is way more important, thats why every song at eurovision is in italian and every year there is always a lot of variety while most of other countries sing in english with always the same genre

I liked this song from the first time, Sanremo is Italia and I'm very proud that La Noia can represent my Country in Eurovision
I see this in the top 10 for sure. I think the juries will appreciate the composition of it and it's very televote friendly. Winning is possible but I think the field is still wide open there at the moment.

Italian here: yes she is indeed a newcomer, she’s fresh out of the biggest talent show in the country (which she didn’t win iirc). She got successful fast, she has two or three hits already, but what’s more important is she already has some experience in the music industry due to being the daughter of two singers.
As for us being happy with the entry: I feel like the sentiment is in her favour because she’s young, genuine and talented and very well loved. Some say they would have sent a different artist from the Sanremo contest though, usually picking Annalisa or Mahmood, who both had upbeat hits.

A bit of history and facts about Sanremo no one asked ⤵️
It's an iconic event like u said, popular in italy since it started back in the days. Sanremo is first of all a city famous initially for its flower market, but since the market gradually lost its popularity and made less and less money they began to host a music competition to attract people back as a marketing strategy. That's also why you will see singers receiving flowers at the ened of every performance btw.
Sanremo festival is also the inspiration behind ESC and it's now the oldest still-running music event.
It isn't a selection (millions have written it already, i know): the prize includes also the chance to go to Eurovision but the winner can potentially refuse. The winner is chosen for the quality of their song regardless of the chances they have to win ESC. The event includes a live orchestra and to take part into it songs have to be in italian, but there are less limitations music-wise than ESC (bands are allowed to play their instruments live, tracks can last more than 3 mins, the lyrics can have swear words).
The organisation changes a bit each year but Sanremo also has a cover night when artists can sing something of their choice featuring someone too.
Fabian, please do some research before doing the video. It will really help to talk accordingly. Sanremo is the most famous Italian music festival around the world, and all the other festivals found inspiration thanks to it. This festival is not a selection for Eurovision. It is an Italian song festival. If Mahmood wants to partipate three times to Sanremo, it does not mean that we want to be on Eurovision all the time. Translation you can find easily in Internet.
While the rhythm is similar to a Colombian cumbia, the vocal style is traditional frim Southern Italy and that is especially evident when she sings a cappella
Rose villain click boom was a good choice in my opinion, she could do pretty well in eurovision but Sanremo isn’t an eurovision pickup, it is more like the Italian festival of Italian music

But just to let you know Italian Sergio Pugliese invet Eurovision song contest in 1956 6 years later than Sanremo festival.to give Europe something similar. Sanremo is not a competition to select someone for EURO SONG CONTEST like many contries do. In italy60/65% share watch sanremo for 5 days around 15 million people every day while for Eurovision around 15/20% share watch the final daywith 3/4million. Basically we do not care cause is at show.Take your Country for example cause of brexit you always last now and Ucrania top.Only Sam Rider did well cause of the investment of bbc to win the festival.

I'm a 39 yo Italian. Personally, I'm excited of the evolution that the new generation music has brought during the latest years, they're a breath of fresh air. I mean, the latest Sanremo winners are:
2021 - Maneskin, UK/US style rock
2022 - Mahmood, Northern Africa immigrant rap/trap, so basically FR
2023 - Marco Mengoni, classical melodic IT song
2024 - Angelina Mango, ES / Latin America style
And I love that they do that without betraying the only real Italian music rule, that is: vocals, vocals, vocals! For 2025, I wish we had Lacuna Coil at Sanremo, to enjoy Scandinavian metal influences and another outstanding singer, Cristina Scabbia!
