  • This week I'm talking about the award-winning, original novel Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. I'll be focusing on the connections between the characters and drawing a visual diagram of how they are interconnected. I'll also be looking at one character's transformation.
Girl, Woman, Other is shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2020 and jointly won the Booker Prize in 2019 with Margaret Atwood.
*MISTAKE* Please note there is a mistake in the video: Hattie is Morgan's great-grandmother, not grandmother.

Hey, thanks for the video! Just finished reading the book, and am in awe of the breathtaking complexity that this book spells out for us from the lives of the twelve women. Nice way to start the new year, ainnit. Happy New Year to you!

This is really helpful, but Hattie is Morgan's great-grandmother, not grandmother :) Morgan is a child of Julie, who's a daughter of Ada Mae, Hattie's daughter.

Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it! It's wonderful isn't it, I won't forget it in a long time. I rarely re-read books but I'd read this one multiple times 😊

Honestly, I would recommend Homegoing before I would recommend Girl, Woman, Other.
    Same format, but done better.

Also it's pronounced like "Boomi" not being rude at all but spellings can be misleading!
