Derby Days is back with a bang as we take the entire series to Spain to discover the incredibly unique rivalries that make up this obsessed football nation! This time it's Asturias, where we discovered two sets of fans whose love for their team, is only surpassed by their love for battling for their team. So after not playing for over 14 years, when they finally met, we experienced a match day arguably more chaotic than anything we've ever seen!

I love seeing Spanish derbies because of how much hate there is during the game but then at half time everyone sits down and eats their sandwiches quietly. It's an amazing dichotomy.

I went to gijon in summer over their local cidra week - it was great they put cider bottles on all their statues. We stood outside the stadium during a game and I couldn’t hear anything for the whole game you could feel the ground shake. Local pride was so real I don’t think I saw any food/clothes/anything really that wasn’t made in Asturias - had a nice

I studied for a semester at Universidad de Oviedo in 2013. I kept telling myself I'd go see a Real Oviedo match but never did, not realizing that it was a pivotal moment during their triumphant "Proud of You" campaign. I still kick myself over that.
You can now right that wrong though, don't get jab poisoned to do so though.
As an Australian, I only get to hear of the big rivalries via mainstream media. Props to you guys for bringing to light the rivalries that the casual fan never really hears of.
I love derbies where the game is completely secondary. Just watch the fans the whole time!

Spencer Kilpatrick ignore him. We are passionate. Tickets are not that expensive. They are if you buy for just one game, but if you have the season ticket, like truly fans do, it’s pretty affordable.

I've been waiting for this since last Sunday! 🙄
I'm almost 40 years old and have traveled a lot in matter of football (others would call me a Groundhopper I guess). So, as time went by, I have built bonds to at least one club in most european countries...except in Spain, despite attending several games and met their fans (visited Barça & Real of course but also Betis, Rayo, Villarreal etc.. 14 in total).. I feel spanish teams are, in comparison, still very local-minded, less open to international fans (except the big two).. don't get me wrong, people I met were nice, friendly and talkative but their main aim, in every region of the country I visited, seemed to point out how "special" they are and that foreigners like me could never understand or be a part of..
This is where I see a big difference to Italian fans I've met during my journeys: they also enjoyed that I wanted to learn about them but instead of treating me like a tourist, they treated me like an old friend after a very time.. Now, 4 years after my last visit, I still have contact to ultras of Milan, Roma and Pisa who keep inviting me.. Does anyone who knows both countries share this experience I've made? Would love to hear about! Cheers from Germany 🍻
