Expect a new video every Sunday at 11AM Central!
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Glad to hear that you are done planting. Now just pray that it all comes up
Wisconsin sure can show off on a sunny spring day. Your drone work is one of bet on the net. Thanks😊.
Some beautiful scenery around there!!
Congrats on getting planting done
I didn't realize the 4.5 horsepower was in the title, but nice to see your neighbor farming. I visited the old iron works up north. Closed and its a musuem, but the made iron and farm tools. So one thing they made was a single blade plow. Prior to that farmers used a wooden plow that would last a day, now they had a plow that would last a season!
Hi Ryan and everyone from northwest Missouri so cool 😎😎😎 to see the Amish or midnights working beside modern machines planting Bud 😉
Great video Ryan, glad you guys are done planting, now pray for good growing weather and a bountiful harvest
Great Video Ryan, Good to see the corn planted and on time, on the aurora, we had fantastic aurora here in NZ. it was visible across the lenght of the country, thanks for sharing
Interesting to hear how mother nature can change your GPS lines😉👍 glad to see that planting is done, I'm looking forward to some hay making videos😁👍
Yeah, weather is getting weird. I had to put the heating back on in the house, in JUNE! Glad to see all your crops in the ground. Keep up the good work.
Love the opening
Awesome job! Interesting hearing what northern lights did to the GPS.
Hey Ryan and Travis, Thank you for the update on planting. Hope everything comes up great. Take care, Take it easy and trust JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
04:20 & thumbnail...Now I understand ur ' 4 1/2 horses ' reference in title. Cool shot of 100 yrs of farming
Hi from oz ryan. Get that first cut NOW before first heads come out. With 24 hour wiltdown to 55% will make exquisite silage so wont need to.feed as many bales over winter(about 20% less bales) then after you have enough then make hay that can be sold
Same here, about the auto stuff
Thanks Ryan!
Good video
Crazy watching the grass move at the 8min mark.
Non farmer in NC here...Did I see an Amish farmer working a field? What's it like having Amish farm as a neighbor?
This is beautiful
Great video and drone footage Ryan and congrats on being done with corn . That was interesting to hear how the solar flares affected the auto steer.
Hey Ryan!! Glad the planting is all done, now onto hay season. Was wondering how the lights looked in your area. We have a lot of light pollution from Des Moines. Made it a little difficult.
How did you drive the 28 unit on your cultivator
Great video but I so want to see Ryan and Hannah farm with horses for the day....would be cool trip to see how people farm with horses Is different from a modern farm
Love the music is so relax for me
Are you going to get another planter to put on the 4640 to plant beans?
Hard to imagine that crop will grow in this unworked ground.
Hard to imagine that everyone does so much tillage south of i80 when things grow just fine in no till or min till
We will take the rain you don’t want. We’ve had .07” (7 tenths) of an inch this year in southern New Mexico. We’ve had to pump for two months. The irrigation district is just now releasing water for farmers but it won’t get us through the year. We’ll be pumping again. The aquifers are getting in bad shape.

Must be the end of May ??
I’ve heard that happening to people and they had to pay to get there gps to work
You need to spray your field before planting .little messy
I was going to say there seems to be a lot more vegetation than usual haha
How come u guys doubt plow your feilds
Hay Ryan when do you think hay videos are coming also are you running the Kuhn mower again this year
Why does Travis hog the tractor? So selfish
Hi Ryan, Edison Motors utube startup sells a ev conversion kit for all trucks. Big red or future brother get a new cat 6 cylinder diesel generator engine that charge 350kw of battery, running electric axels that generate power going down hill braking. Saves 50% fuel and maintenance. Your age log truck drivers built there own trucks waiting on a Tesla semi. Big red becomes a mobile emergency power plant, runs silent in the city during deliveries and parades. Also would train u or Travis to do the 4 week install in BC Canada. Buy a shotvout engine, transmission old truck for peanuts with good bones and build a like new ev hybrid. They also are solar experts to coach Travis on materials for roof mount installs with battery backup. 3 kw per mile. USA availability 2025. It's the perfect retrofit for old trucks that won't be road legal soon. Cat dot certified generator engine handles the co2 bs. About as good as buying the JCB with attachments. If your hauling downhill, even more savings. Would bring a bunch of traction to all 3 channels. Log truck savings in Canada, $10,000.00 a month. Payback on new truck, 4 years before any green rebates.
You get trained on the install of your truck. FYI. Great 4 week winter project.
Money pit.
