NIL is essentially/supposedly allowing these young athletes to navigate as professionals. To that point, NFL/NBA has contracts where 1 shoe company produces uniforms & apparel, but each athlete is able to wear sneakers of their individual endorsement. It should be the same NIL/NCAA. Student-athletes wear school endorsement uniforms/apparel while wearing shoes of their own choosing. This shouldn't be hard for any attorney. Only one athlete needs to challenge such restrictions legally. NCAA would like to stay away from court/public record whenever possible.

NIL athletes should have an organization of lawyers, supported by NIL athletes, that can challenge the schools and their sponsors when they are overstepping their bounds. Schools and sponsors get away with soft coercion because of a lack of legal challenges.

I agree with Nike and LSU on this one. In the locker room you are representing LSU WB who has a brand deal with Nike, wear Nike. She is not a student in the WB locker room, she is an LSU athlete. Once she leaves that gym, she can wear Puma as a student all day and night. There are guidelines to branding that must be maintained. Alot of money is spent on branding rights.

In this case she did a music video and she's not signed to Nike the school is but Nike wants the school to police a players activities off the court. Her only mistake is using the locker room of the school....if she did the video in the school library would Nike have done the same thing? Probably....if they want to dictate what individual players do as far as brand repping off court they need to pay these players.
